  1. Mr Setright was obviously like an LS, very refined. Clarkson's more like a chavved-up Nova.
  2. I've had 2 Corollas, 2 Carinas and 2 GS300s, the only time the needle ever wandered was when there was a problem (like when the water pump dumped all the coolant out of my Carina E and I had to coast into Brecon Police Station at 1am and ask for 3 kettlefuls of boiling water for the engine). Rain or shine, once the engine warms up the needle stays put. Quality, see.
  3. I can't say anything about the Origin B2, but I've had an Origin Blue i for a couple of years. Had it replaced twice under warranty, because the screen went doolally. Screen went again outside warranty, replaced it myself with a decent screen instead of the cheap crap they use, screen's been fine since. Now it's decided that it hates updates - bought a second one from eBay (surprise surprise, a knackered screen), may swap my screen into it, but using TomTom for traps now anyway. Oh yeah, one more thing. Found about 12 cameras, 6 of which were the first time I took it out, whilst one of the others took about 6 months to find its way into the database. What are the chances of being pipped to the post (and denied the £50 finders fee as a result) on EVERY SINGLE CAMERA? Hmmmm....
  4. Follow the cables from the negative terminal of the battery to the bodywork, engine, etc. Those are the earth straps.
  5. Excellent! Lucky it was a TTE supercharger and not a different brand, though - could've been a tad expensive!
  6. Link This is 17MB, but well worth the download. Don't just switch off after a minute, it does get better!
  7. Fake search engines. Ultimate Search is one example. They wait for a popular domain to expire, then register it themselves and whack a crap search site on it. Not only that, they add a robots.txt file to the site that stops you accessing the old site with the Wayback Machine. Examples:- www.ultsearch.com www.djamanda.com www.hardware-update.com (hijacked from Microsoft!) www.wbw.com www.primealliancecyclingteam.com Look familiar? Notice how all the stuff on the page seems to be very closely related to all the spam we get! A more detailed example of what's going on is given here. (Incidentally I tried grabbing www.ultsearch.co.uk when it became available, but missed out by a couple of hours. Got www.ult-search.co.uk instead, though - but it's never going to be a fake search site!)
  8. If you do it, ensure you get a Flashlube kit fitted, this will lubricate the valves and stop them getting burnt.
  9. The LS has slipped behind Jaguar in the Sedan over $45,000 category. The LF-A has also slipped behind Jaguar in the Best Prototype category. The GS, GX, RX and IS are still top of the polls, though, and we're top of the manufacturers' poll, too!
  10. I recognise that ECU (middle-left picture, silver box to the right of the alternator) That's a Romano gas system, got one on mine. Same tank, too, but much smaller (got a 70 litre tank in mine)! Tsk, BMW engine cover in a Lexus? Luckily my engine cover still fits, even with all the gas gubbins fitted!
  11. Aaah, makes sense now. Mark D's "successive division" method isn't what I would've used, but looks like a good method. Just get a few practice runs in first to get used to it (checking your answers with Calc or similar) before the exam!
  12. Tax? Is it not possible to (a) get your UK-based mate to pick one up for £xx,000, (b) buy it off your mate for £1,000 instead, (c ) pay tax on the £1,000, then (d) bung your mate the difference afterwards? By the way, just checked on AutoTrader and Y2K W-reg LS400s fetch from £4,995 (one in Watmough) to £9,450, £9,850 and £9,995 (the other three). Y2K X-reg LS430s start at £15,980
  13. For Windoze users:- Start -> Run calc View -> Scientific
  14. ...and where from? Is this another UltraLEDS job?
  15. ...and keep some ID with you. I'd expect (hope) that after you've reported this you'd get pulled a couple of times because they're looking for your plate!
