  1. Car was parked on the road past our office yesterday. Came back to the car to find that a lorry, whilst going past to make a delivery to us, has managed to do this to my back wing:-

I'd only polished the car on Saturday, too! Trying to track down contact details for the logistics company we think is involved (CCTV doesn't cover the car, but it does cover Goods In). If they don't play ball then I'll get the cops involved, they can have the CCTV plus the paint fragments recovered from the ground and the car.

  2. When they get their day in court, don't forget to name and shame (after all, it's what the local papers will do anyway). Of course, if it accidentally gets crossreferenced with Facebook, Bebo, MySpace, etc. (some lowlife can type apparently)...

Oh, and lots of pics of them coming out of court if they're cuffed - they'll really like that and there's nothing they can do about it.

  3. edit footer.txt

    In footer.txt, put:-

    Thank you for your custom

    GS V 1,49

Every time you COPY footer.txt LPT1: I'd expect it to print the footer and cut the paper.

If the ASCII commands are a bit more unusual (like the Epson [ESC]-P ones) a hex-editor (plenty of free ones on the net) would come in handy.

  4. When the car passed me I waved apologetically and the guy stuck his forks at me.

I looked at the car driving off and there was a kid no more than 3 years old giving me a right dirty scowl !

What is he being taught as he's growing up. Scowling at 3 years old ? What the hell is going on in our society.

God help the next generation if that's what rubbish we are bringing up.

Gotta agree with you there. Bunch of little $#!+$ on one of the rough estates in Caerphilly giving me a gobful as I'm putting stuff in my boot, can't have been more than five years old. Drove down to the end of the cul-de-sac, turned round, one of them's at the side of the road, stone in hand ready to throw. It fell out of his hand when the car "started to drift off course" towards him, though! :whistling:

  5. I watched a program on discovery a while back (mythbusters) they tested everything to try and fool a speed camera including all the different sprays available but nothing worked. i just got a ticket through the other day, searched the web for days trying to find ways of getting out of it but there is no way, ****ERS!

    Tried www.pepipoo.com?

  6. the difference is when the tyres are fitted. asymetrical tyres can run properly clockwise or anticlockwise. when you look at the tyres fitted to the right and left wheels they tread patterns will not be symetrical

a rough look would be asymetrical= <(( left tyre <(( right tyre

normal symetrical tyre= <)) left tyre ((> right tyre

so re050's can only be mounted on the rim one way and will be marked inner and outer. re050A's will not be marked inner and outer so can be mounted either to run clockwise or anticlockwise.

asymetrical tyres always look a bit odd to me as if theyve been fitted wrong but the advantage is they can then be mounted on any corner of a car.

confusing but hope this helps :geek:

Asymetric tyres WILL be marked inner and outer and as such can only be fitted to the rim in one way. They have a different tread pattern on the inside to the pattern on the outside.

Exactly what I was thinking. Symmetrical tyres will have a direction-of-rotation arrow instead.

  7. A children's mental health charity has criticised the courts after a suicidal teenager who tried to kill himself in a car was given four months in detention.

The criticism follows the sentencing of the 16-year-old Newport boy by Cwmbran Youth Court on Thursday.

He tried to kill himself by crashing a stolen car in a street in Crosskeys.

He had been driving a stolen Lexus RX 4x4 at more than 100mph on his trail of destruction along the town's Risca Road, which caused £50,000 worth of damage, and told the court: "I wanted to kill myself."

    Full story here.

  8. Beemers are just too common these days, and Beemers with their foglights on are just ALL too common these days!

I'm with Kazi, I'd prefer an LS, either a 460 or (preferably) a 600h. If I won a Beemer in a competition (some hope) it'd be straight in Auto Trader before the dust even had a chance to settle. Not many marques I'd say that about (Ford is another one).

  9. I feel for you mate :crying:

Similar thing happened around here when someone slashed two tyres per car on every car down the street (Done about 20 cars in all).

That happened here a few years back, over 30 cars in 3 streets (BBC story here). I wasn't here at the time, but my CCTV caught the b*****d doing it to a couple of them. Footage went to the cops as soon as I found out about it. Not sure if he got nicked or not, I know the neighbours would've just hung him from the railway footbridge up the street if they'd caught him first.

  10. So, are all LEXUS dealers bound or must honour an LOC discount up to 15%...?

If I join for £25 get a card plus the benefits it brings (anyone know how long this takes) and then tell Croydon LEXUS... I should get a discount?

    Thanks in advance

No, not all Lexus dealers give LOC discount, but the majority do.

Worth shopping around, you may find it's cheaper to drive to a more distant dealer, such as Hanley, and get it done there.

Alternatively why not get the timing belt & water pump done at an independent, then get the rest of the service (and the L stamp in the book) at Lexus?

Incidentally when the water pump failed on my Carina E, Toyota in Builth Wells asked me if they wanted the belt changed at the same time (as it had to come off to do the pump). The extra cost? About twelve quid, the cost of the new belt!
