  1. Anyone know any Lexus (or I guess Toyota) dealers in the W London/Surrey area that are doing the £299 offer? I asked Lexus Guildford, where I'm getting my next service done, and they quoted the standard £375.
  2. Thanks Phil, I'll make a note to chase it nearer the time.
  3. As a matter of interest, has anyone had the 10 yr plus warranty long enough to know whether it auto renews, or if you have to prompt the dealer? Mine will be up for renewal later this year and so wanted to know if I needed to do anything, or if it will just keep going unless I opt out.
  4. I'm the Thames water area too, and it's chucking it down this morning. Personally, with a ceramic coating I wouldn't bother washing until things were back to normal, and would enjoy the break instead:) That said, I'm not a fan of pressure washers as my last car had problems with the clear coat peeling. Granted, it was getting on a bit, but I'm sure the regular pressure washing didn't help. In any case I've found that, with a ceramic (graphene) coating, snow foam and a bucket and sponge is all it takes to get it clean.
  5. I believe that the premium (E5) fuels also have an enhanced additive package, and so it's possible that they clean things out a bit better, and thus improve efficiency/performance. It would therfore make sense that it would take a few tankfulls for the full benefit to be realised.
  6. Hi Rob, and welcome. In the absence of anyone near you, perhaps you could post your queries and I'm sure there'll be a few who could answer them. Maybe try posting them in the RX section, which probably gets more views.
  7. I quite like the funny mouse, but agree that Google Maps and Waze are far better than any manufacturer sat nav I've seen. As an aside, I used what3words recently on a couple of trips, and liked the fact that you could store your desinations on there and then choose which map app you want to do the routing.
  8. I don't notice much difference between most E10/E5 petrol, but do notice that I get up to 5mpg more with Esso E5, which is zero ethanol. As per Linas' comments, this is to be expected.
  9. I agree with Herbie on this, but I believe the Carista app and OBD dongle will allow you to alter this setting.
  10. If it's too deep for a polish, I've had success with the Chipex colour matched kits in the past.
  11. I think I posted this elsewhere but, as an experiment over a few recent long runs, I've tried driving at 60-65 mph instead of 70-75 mph. At 70+ I'd average around 33-35 mpg, whereas at 60 I was getting 40 mpg. Apart from the improved mileage, I noticed that at the slower speed I rarely needed to use the brakes, which meant less accelerating too, instead of the continual speed up, cruise, slow down, repeat etc that came with the higher cruising speed. I also noticed that it didn't seem to affect the overall journey time, with journeys almost exactly matching the google maps estimate. I found it also a lot more relaxing not to treat the speed limit as a target 🙂
  12. I've driven to France a couple of times in the last few months, so can't comment specifically on bikes, but here's what I know. Apart from the usual stuff, I believe you also need an emissions (crit'air) sticker for certain towns/cities. They only cost 3 or 4 euros and are valid for the life of the car/bike. Here's a couple of links that might help: https://www.visordown.com/news/general/does-your-motorcycle-need-emissions-sticker-go-france https://www.drive-france.com/faqs/motorcycling-france/
  13. Probably Pete. Would definitey have been better sleeping in the car with the air conditioning on over the last couple of weeks 🙂
  14. Not sure about Shell, but Esso E5 is zero ethanol.
  15. Me too. Wish I had a five year deal on my gas/electric 🙂
  16. I took mine out with Lexus Battersea (Inchcape) and it can only be used at any Inchcape dealer. So, to Dan, if it matters, it's worth checking if any plan offered is dealer/chain specific, or can be used at any Lexus dealer.
  17. Not seen anything less than around £1.71 near me (SW London/Surrey)
  18. Hi I'm not familiar with that year/model but assume it's an automatic transmission with bottons that allow you to change gear manually if you so desire.
  19. My experience is the same as Peter's. I set the climate control to auto and the temperature I want, and then I leave it on year round. I don't think I've ever turned it off in any car I've owned, and have never experienced any smells.
  20. Good point Barry. I guess he doesn't cover it, given that he's largely US focused, and the top 3 selling cars there are trucks, with not many rushing to buy EV's. I quite like the videos of his I've seen, although don't agree with his view that 5000 mile oil changes are necessary. Not sure if he really thinks that, or is playing to the crowd.
  21. Firstly, I wouldn't wash the car until the windscreen has been fitted properly. I once had a Jag that would sometimes come to a complete halt, and the electrics would go haywire, when it rained. Took it to a dealer and they found that the windscreen installer had fitted the seal wrongly, with the join at the top. They found loads of water under the carpets, and had to dry out the electrics and replace the carpets. If it's being organised by your insurance company then I'd get onto them and get them to get Autoglass to resolve it, or authorise you to take it to a Lexus dealer/specialist.
  22. Mine are 19's so not sure where or if you can get 20's.
  23. I've never experienced it either. That said, I rarely floor it, and also have crossclimates.
  24. You might find that the cigarette lighter socket is disabled when the car is off. As above, my AA solar charger also came with an OBD plug, so you just have to plug that into the port. No additional wiring necessary.
  25. In some parts of the US, Florida was one I believe, local authorities partnered with Uber during the pandemic, allowing people to travel either free or at the same price as a bus ride. Although it cost them money by subsidising the Uber fares, it was cheaper than running near empty buses.
