  1. £600 (gulp)... brave move For me £600 would be going on either new tyres, brakes, tints, Exhaust etc Happy motoring.
  2. Interesting can you provide abit more info please. Where did you source it from? Overall Cost? DIY Guide or professionally fitted? Hows the wiring is it plug & play etc Thanks
  3. Is dark tint the only option available? It would look Factory/OEM fitment if the tint was toned down but each to their own preference I guess.
  4. It will reward you on the bends stick with the F Sport suspension take it for a spirited drive on a twisty road & you will soon appreciate it. Ensure tyre pressures are set correctly if i'm not mistaken 36psi all around. They are not run flats so should be smooth ride. Keep in mind this time of year local Councils generally wait until the winter passes then send the roadwork repairs out so the roads are more pot holed than usual is why you could well be experiencing it more so than normal. Not that I recommend swerving but I do have habit of avoiding pot holes where possible ever since I broke a Coil spring in another car many moons ago + keeps your wheel alignment in check.
  5. Have you explored changing the side wall size? For example 225/40/18 - Go with 225/45/18 or 225/50/18 Providing the tyre allows clearance between the Arch you shouldnt have a problem, the result will improve the comfort as their is more rubber/cushion to asorb the bumps. Caution: Not sure how it will impact your speedometer though.
  6. Looking for a Techstream software to see what options are available. - Which version is compatible with the LEXUS IS300H 2014> - How much does the software retail for & what hardware is required? For example explore options put the windows down with the remote. Reprogramme TYRE pressure sensors etc Thanks
  7. Yes your right its if the water sits there in heavy downpours may result in potential issues.
  8. Sharing for info noticed under the wipers at the front of the car there is a plastic wiper scuttle trim. If you notice water sits there you most likely have a blocked drain hole its located on the passenger side get a screwdriver or a pick and dig out the grit/mud/dirt & watch the water drain out via a tube under the passenger arch. I can only imagine long term it will cause issues potentially excess water getting past a seal under the windscreen into the cabin causing expensive issues. Appreciate this may already be documented on the site but if not this may prevent owners facing future issues. (I may well be overthinking it)
  9. Costcos finest less than £15 Michellins
  10. Unlikely if your garage is not vented the fumes will build up quite normal. If it was an actual issue you would think the petrol smell is there permanently, inside the car the fuel pump is usually under the rear seats. You must be one unlucky bugger if your vent tube is blocked because there aren't really any reports of one blowing up yet.
  11. How much? Pls post the pics Thanks
  12. Disconnect the 12v battery as a precaution & crack on. Changing the brakes is not an issue its like any other car, its the bleed procedure when changing the brake fluid that can land you in trouble if not done properky there are warnings the drivers door should not be opened whilst the bleed valve is open as it loads up pressure when the door is opened. For Hybrid procedure skip to 11:00 the carcarenut explains it better.
  13. Crikkeehhh whats the hold up?
  14. 5% - Side windows 20% rear
  15. Could be Carbon build up use full tank of V power & get it upto temperature & rev it out old italian tune up may help. If not see this link below just the wiring came loose from the plug. https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/gx460-p0390-code-on-2011-build.1266722/
  16. Do you have any more pics to see the damage? You know what these these things happen dont be so hard on yourself take a breather stop for a second & reflect it was out of your control 4 new tyres vs most likely an oil spill/ice on the road it can happen anywhere to anybody. You walked away from it so thank God you live to tell the tail & spend time with the family for Christmas it could have been much worse. In regards to cost if your fully comp your insurance excess will typically be £250 check your policy though. Claim thats what insurance is for? if your no claims bonus is protected you shouldnt loose them & also keep in mind any claim you have to declare for the next 5 years regardless of fault or not so your premium might go up at renewal around £100 a year so at worst your out of pocket over the next 5 years if including your excess by approx £750 but you get paid out market value for the car. Just swallow the pill & soldier on got to move on. Same thing would happen in a hit & run scenario unpredictable when this sort of shizzle occurs. Insurance will most likely write it off as they wont want to chance repairing it & for it to still be faulty & for obvious reasons like liability if an accident occurs as a result of a repair. These cars are not uncommon to find so take your payout & just buy another or explore your options the SUV versions in Lexus range look quite tasty. Re buying subframe sorry I dont have exact part numbers but extensive research on google will tell you. Just be careful with buying used parts as there was a revision to the suspension from 2016/2017 models (couldnt tell you what) facelift has improved suspsenion. New parts from Lexus will work out very expensive. Until a reputable mechanic sees it very difficult to say but an honest one will advise you they can only repair what they see, if another component is damaged not visible to the eye by mm believe me your car will not feel right especially at high speed. All the best mate Merry Christmas & Happy New Year. 2023.
  17. Hope your alright! How did it happen? Its a tricky one complex setup you need it on a ramp to properly see the damage. If you have damaged the Subframe looking on ebay they go for around £200. Then factor in the following connected components: - Upper & lower control control arms with ball joints - Wheel bearing - ABS sensor - Shock asborber & top mounts - Anti roll bar & drop link - Coil spring may be ok - Wheel alignment 100% - Alloy wheel & new tyre? - * Potentially damaged driveshaft & differential if your saying wheel is bent, as its a rear wheel drive! Conservative Estimate easily upwards of £1000-2000 (used parts from the breakers or ebay) if you include labour. You can spend all that but you will not be guaranteed it will drive straight afterwards. As you dont know what else is bent. My suggestion would be go through insurance?
  18. Try this procedure works everytime for me. No need to deactivate smart entry from the cars settings, it basically stops your key from sending a signal that allows it to communicate/talk to the car. So because your key is asleep nobody can pickup the signal via those fancy devices near the front door. To test it with the key in your hand try to open the car it should remain locked. Job done. To reactivate just press unlock works like a conventional key. Yes its inconvenience but I'd much rather wake up to see my car on the drive than having disappeared overnight.
  19. Invest in GB40 keep it charged in your boot ready to boost you in the event of your battery dropping below voltage not allowing your car to start it will get you out of trouble. https://www.halfords.com/motoring/battery-maintenance/jump-starters/noco-gb40-1000a-jump-starter-721898.html The boost points under your bonnet: Open the fuse box: + Red cable to the positive terminal - Bllack cable to a metal section in the engine bay
  20. Now that I have owned the 300H can only speak on this version, the 200T Is a good engine but quite thirsty range from 20-25MPG. + cost more in Road tax. Not too popular in the UK you may see challenges (delay) when needing parts for it chassis is the same just engine components. They are both going to be reliable if maintained, I'd say the 300H is likely to be more reliable if you do mega milea as its a naturally aspirated engine there is no need to worry about turbo failure. Yes there is the high voltage battery but its proven concept to not require any attention for 10 years + Prius being a good example some examples out there over 300k. Its the same technology. If you have the V6 itch / want performance go for the 450H, blend of economy & performance. Very capable motors out of the box as standard. Just be mindful they cost more to maintain i.e spark plugs change its an intake manifold off job at 60k intervals its not too bad to be fair, if your good with spanners DIY is possible if your brave. Your right its a shame we dont get the 4WD version of the IS in the UK otherwise 350 would be my choice as well.
  21. Your probably right not enough clearance on the lowered cars. I guess if anybody is that curious they can just jack it up, but must be a different setup/functionality making the SUV versions a target its a shame really the 450H F Sport looked like a future choice for me but im not so sure
  22. Curious to understand is the IS300H also impacted by the Canbus method of stealing it? Have seen a few posts more commonly via the wheel arch but on the SUV models 450H etc Appreciate its not going to be used as a getaway car but just for breaking it in parts or shipping abroad maybe worth while to theifs. What preventative measures other than steering lock can we take to avoid theft, if left ungaraged it makes it vulnerable to the opportunists. Thoughts? https://japantoday.com/category/crime/japanese-police-struggling-with-growing-number-of-'can-invaders'-used-to-steal-luxury-cars
  23. Look at it as preventative maintenance its not necessary but just for peace of mind. As long as there is no leak you have nothing to worry about. Plenty of cars go to the scrapyard without gearbox fluid change. Relax your driving a Lexus afterall. These cars generally have an easy life popular in Taxis too. Keep eye on fill level and top up as necessary.
  24. I have taken a few cars to 100k+ in my years of driving Never once have I had any major issues mainly owned Jap cars so generally pretty reliable consider the following if you want to reach the 200-300k milestone. This list is overkill but you wont be seeing a breakdown if your ontop of these items. Service (Major) - Oil & Filter - Air filter - Pollen Filter - AC Clean & recharge if necessary - Brake Fluid - Wipers & washer fluid - CVT Fluid & Differential oil - Coolant radiator & invertor - Spark plugs at 60k intervals - Clean Hybrid fan & filter - Drive belt - 12v Battery - Brake disc & pads - Water pump inspect & replace if necessary - Tyres & wheel alignment - Shock absorbers & Drop links - Ball joints & control arms inspect - Exhaust corrosion inspect usually mid section/back box - Oxygen sensor - Clean MAF Sensor - Inspect rocker cover gaskets if you see any oil leaks replace - Underbody corrosion including brake/fuel lines Dashcam (accessory) works in your favour if your ever in a bump. The list goes on use your MOT advisories for any work due keep ontop of your preventative maintenance & your guaranteed plenty of miles ahead.
