Full Charge is only 210 miles
John Adams replied to MikeD1948's topic in Lexus RZ Owners Club - All-New Electric Lexus
Yours should do slightly better milage than the Takumi I have. At the moment on roughly 10 mile local trips at 30/40mph I am getting 2.2miles/kwh which implies a range of about 140 miles. Last week I did a 120mile round trip mostly on motorway and A roads at 60mph and I got 2.4miles/kwh which implies a range of around 154 miles which is not brilliant -

That's interesting Bob. I've never seen a range of 200 miles on mine fully charged even in the the summer months. -

At the moment, a full charge in mine shows 178 miles. Since new, it has never shown more than 196 miles in warmer weather. Which model do you have? -
It would get my vote for worse Lexus of the year by far.

Lexus use CCS on the RZ. It is a mystery to me why they stuck with Chademo when they made all the useful upgrades to the 300e. If the 300e used CCS I would have probably bought one instead of the RZ

That's probably one of the best reasons I've seen for a buying a 300e. That started my day off with a laugh!

The dropping range is just a fact of life with ev's in the winter. I'm currently showing 180ish miles on a full charge. Of more importance to me is dc charging speed when on a trip and the fact you can never get anywhere near the speed they claim. A peak of 68kwh for 10 minutes before tailing off to around 10kwh is not acceptable. I have reported this from day one and although I agree Lexus used to have exemplary customer service, on this car they have failed miserably and still have no answers. Let me know what they tell you about the slow charging when you take it in.
-
All I can say is welcome to the club. I have had charging issues from day 1. The fastest charge I have ever seen on my car with a low battery was 68kw which tailed off after 30 minutes to a pathetic 10kw making long journeys a nightmare. I won't go into all the details but suffice to say the dealer and Lexus CS are useless and after 6 months I have no firm answers. Good luck, you will need it
-
Well I was going to wait until Monday to do a report but I'm currently in the middle of a 500 mile round trip to see relatives. On the way down on Friday in roughly -3 temperature I recorded a very impressive 3.9 miles/kwh at a steady 65Mph. Seriously though, I hired a Tesla model 3 from Hertz at a reasonable £300 for the weekend as I knew the RZ wouldn't have made it without multiply stops and very slow charging speeds. I will report back on Monday. Off to lunch now and a couple of tinctures!

Second key availability
John Adams replied to John Adams's topic in Lexus RZ Owners Club - All-New Electric Lexus
Hi Steve, I've had the car since June. With regards to losing your key, I was told by Lexus CS early on that they would fully reimburse anyone who lost their key including expenses in getting the car back to the dealer. You would obviously have to pay for the lost key as normal. Also with the locking wheel nuts they told me they would pay for the replacement of all wheels if they should be stolen, again including expenses. -
Second key availability
John Adams replied to John Adams's topic in Lexus RZ Owners Club - All-New Electric Lexus
Just had a letter from Lexus CS saying "Good news" you can now order your second key. They then go on to emphasise that they are going to supply this key to me" free of charge" as part of their customer service. Better still, when I've driven the 100 or so miles at my expense to collect the key they will also programme it for me "free of charge". How kind of them. Don't these people realise I have already paid for the key when I bought the car? -
Taking the plunge in to EV
John Adams replied to ivancrx's topic in Lexus RZ Owners Club - All-New Electric Lexus
Kevin. You are not as shocked as me to have to write what I do. As a long term lover of Lexus cars I should not have to write such negative comments. The sad thing is I have never complained about any Lexus before and if they won't listen to people like me it proves they don't care. There will be no more Lexus cars for me when I eventually get rid of this and they have lost my business for good. I doubt it will concern them. -
Taking the plunge in to EV
John Adams replied to ivancrx's topic in Lexus RZ Owners Club - All-New Electric Lexus
Can I be more specific? Where do I start. Firstly when you are charging the RX doesn't show you the % state of charge which is infuriating when I charge at at home. The NX 450+ I had showed you the state of charge in the app. The RZ does not because it takes about 2 hours to update. Every other ev gives you basic information such as how much the ac consumes or how much regen you have generated. The RZ does not. In all other cars if you put a destination in the satnav that is greater than the range it recommends charging stops. Guess what, the RZ doesn't. The software the BZ4 had to address some the issues was done months ago but the Lexus updates is some months away. That's just the software and I haven't mentioned all the other problems affecting the car. I could go on but the bottom line is that the dealer and Lexus CS couldn't care less. It's so infuriating when you spend so much money on a Lexus. If I really told you what I thought about this car I would be banned from the forum. So let's leave it there. -

There is a big difference with the interior quality and the Lexus. But this pales into insignificance when you consider the usability of the Tesla compared with the RZ. The RZ is poor not only the range but the software which is rubbish. A much cheaper MG has far better software and range than the Lexus. The premium cars which Lexus should compete with are miles better. Lexus have messed up big time with this car and long time Lexus owners like me have been shafted big time. -
Talking about range, I've just come back from a very early 80 mile round trip. All 30 and 40mph A roads. Very little traffic and 8 deg c outside temperature. I had to have the fan on because of steaming up. Average speed was 36mph and total average of 2.4miles/kwh. Gawd knows what it would be on a motorway but not impressed. Was expecting better. Incidentally I saw a UK range test last night on You Tube and the guy covered 140 miles miles at an average speed of 60mph and 3miles/kwh. More importantly though, he said the useable battery capacity was 67kwh but he didn't know whether it had a software update because it was a dealer demo car. Could be wrong I suspect
-
To be fair, when I moved from the NX 450+ to the RZ in June, my insurer -Saga- only charged me something like £100 extra from what I was paying albeit with a bigger excess. I accept this may be because I'm an old git and it might change at renewal but I do think there is a lot of scaremongering out there. The Telegraph in particular run scare stories every day the latest being that EV's are bursting into flames every day and not forgetting the multi story car parks collapsing. A relative of mine living in Ascot just changed his Range Rover for a Merc EQ something and he is paying an extra £300.

Taking the plunge in to EV
John Adams replied to ivancrx's topic in Lexus RZ Owners Club - All-New Electric Lexus
The bad reviews are down to the fact it is a bad car. You need to own one to understand the many problems and with no assistance from the dealer as they haven't a clue on how to fix basic problems. And as a long term Lexus buyer and fan, i'm not happy saying that but it's true. If Lexus UK would acknowledge there is a problem that would be a start. But they won't -

Yes. Too many issues which need resolving. The dealers haven't' a clue and when you contact Lexus UK they refer you to the dealer. Worst Lexus I have ever owned and they should not have launched this car with so many basic problems. As for the app.. well it's rubbish as we all know -

It's not hatred. It's just a fact that we expect much better from Lexus. As a long term Lexus owner, I expect better. This car is a lemon and I expect much better from Lexus and they have really let down long term customers big time. They have got this car so wrong and as a long time supporter of Lexus it leave's a poor taste and I am now finished with Lexus for good. -
RZ450 e range test at 70mph
John Adams replied to John Adams's topic in Lexus RZ Owners Club - All-New Electric Lexus
The RZ will be hard pushed to get anywhere near 3m/kwh at 70 mph. I tend to drive on the motorways at a steady 60mph to conserve range and the very best I have got was 3m/kwh in ideal conditions. Currently down to 2.8m/kwh with lower temperatures
