  1. 493,053 now. My cousin just signed!
  2. Just seen this video about a locked charging plug and the guy saying you can't stop a charge until it reaches the charge set by the car. Apparently the guy spoke to Lexus CS who couldn't help and the owner is apparently on this forum. Who could that be? Have to say I haven't had a problem stopping a charge on a Tesla charger using the app..
  3. The State pension may be a giant unfunded Ponzi scheme but it is nothing compared to the Public sector pension liabilities which stood at £2.6 trillion in 2021-22. No politician dares to challenge that but huge savings could be made there. Not least reducing the inflation protection they get. My small private pension rises at a maximum of 5% no matter what inflation is. Public sector pension increases rise at whatever inflation is even if it was 50%. Think of the savings if they were brought in line with the private sector.
  4. The DT says Labour are "poised" to raise it by £400 for those who retired post 2016 and only £300 for those on the old state pension. It's not yet cast in stone and a lot can change before then.
  5. What's the betting come Budget time they will say that although they intended to keep the triple lock, they have found a bigger black hole and they can't afford it this year. Remember Brown who gave pensioners a 75p a week rise in 1999 I think. I wouldn't bet against it.
  6. I've just read that the Government is considering sending eligible pensioners on an all expenses paid trip to Switzerland. The good news is they will make considerable savings going forward. The bad news it is only a one way ticket.
  7. Never mind the Winter fuel allowance the question is are we still going to get the £10 Christmas bonus? We look forward to getting our cup of coffee each year with it. Mind you, when it was introduced in 1972 it was worth something and apparently it is the only "benefit" that hasn't increased in 52 years.
  8. Think how much you will save the Government going forward if you do. That would be very public spirited of you!
  9. Well if you get to 104, I would love to treat you to a bottle of Champagne to celebrate. I would still be a mere youngster of 102. Bet the politicians - Labour in particular- would be upset if we oldies stayed around too long to take all these "benefits" and deprive more worthy causes of cash.
  10. Well as a pensioner I have never voted Labour but it is comforting to know you think we could be dead in 5-10 years. That's made my day. Must open a bottle this lunchtime to drown my sorrows before they ban it.
  11. I maybe wrong but I thought the software update sorted out the charging problem. I certainly dc fast charged 4 times in a 24 hour period a few weeks back and didn't notice any problems.
  12. The update will certainly help. A couple of weeks ago I did a 400 mile round trip to London. 28 deg c on the way out and 30 deg c back. Set the cruise to 70 with ac and the overall return was 3.5miles/kwh. I was very impressed. Obviously I expect this to drop as the weather gets colder. Mine is currently showing 220 miles on a full charge. You have to take the car to the dealer for the update but if yours has the HUD, they are still not doing the update. Best call the dealer to check.
  13. Just received a letter from Lexus with a recall campaign for the front/rear cameras. Apparently due to insufficient laser welding of the camera cases there is a possibility the case may separate allowing water to enter and cause the circuit to short which may cause the increased risk of a crash say Lexus. So another 200 mile round trip is on the cards making my 5th visit in less than a year to have problems fixed.
  14. I remember a few years ago when Abbot was visiting Northern Ireland. A reporter asked her what she thought of County Down. She said she still watched it but it wasn't so good without Richard Whitely.
  15. It won't mean £300 less for me because I am not over 80. As for going to a more worthy place it will probably go towards people who have never contributed anything in their life. But that's another story. Anyway, have a good evening as I am about to be busy planning my next world cruise!
  16. So you are now insulting us pensioners by saying we are gullible and easily bought. You really don't like us do you?
  17. The Winter Fuel allowance was actually brought in by Labour in 1997. But don't let actual facts get in the way of your apparent prejudice against pensioners
  18. Have to say I can't see how your car has the latest software available if it isn't showing the % charge. They must have changed back to the previous software version for some reason. Mine is still going well since the update. I would ask the dealer to clarify.
  19. Ken. it is interesting that they say it is a known fault. The engineer who came to see me a number of times said he had never heard of anyone having this problem but me. This was repeated by the Hive team on the phone and they said it was because I was in a poor signal area. Strange that as I had to have a smart meter fitted last year when my analogue meter broke. That uses the same technology and works perfectly.
  20. Since the software update the range has increased significantly. With the warmer weather 100% now showing as much as 220 miles which is pretty accurate. Turning the fan/aircon off only improves by about 5 miles. So the software update- for those who have had it- has made a significant difference.
  21. It's rare that it happens unless you buy an RZ. In my case the GFV is over 12k higher than the current trade in price. A lot can happen before the PCP ends next May but it will definately be in negative equity.
  22. Just another point about the Hive app. After 3 years they will start charging you a monthly fee to access the data from the charger. Obviously I wont be paying this as it would be pointless. I've noticed on the heating app as well- which I have had for many years- they have a new updated app launching and it seems they also want to charge a monthly fee for data of that as well. Just another way these companies want to screw you.
  23. Every since I had the Hive unit a couple of years ago it constantly drops out virtually everyday. I have the Hive app for heating which is fine but the ev charger is always offline. I had the unit changed to a new one after a month but the new one is no different. I've complained dozens of times but now they just wash their hands of it and say there is nothing they can do. I'm thinking of changing to a new manufacturer next year when the 3 year warranty is up.
