For me the strange thing is when I put in my Reg No in on that site it says there are no recalls outstanding for my car yet according to Lexus they have no record of it ever being done.

I fitted one of these a couple of years ago and works well although it’s bigger than the mirror and not so good in bright sunshine withe the roof down. It is a combined front and rear dash cam and when in reverse gear acts as a rear view camera as well. I already had a permanent live and switched live under the centre console so had to run wiring behind the dash and the under the side window cover to the top of the windscreen. I then had to run the cable to the rear camera and also pick the reversing light circuit to tell the unit when in reverse.

I forgot to mention the blue tooth battery monitor I fitted in October stopped working and there was no way of sending it back or getting a refund via Amazon. Well cheesed off I left a negative review. I then thought I would just check it with a multimeter and I got a resistance reading so put it back on the car and it started working again.

Has anyone ever had the airbag recall done and how recent was it? Mine was booked for the beginning of January but the dealer rang me a few days beforehand to say they hadn’t received the part and would contact me when available. I am now wondering whether there is any stock now bearing in mind how old these cars are now. My RX is due for a service and MOT in 3 weeks time I will enquire what’s happening about the part. Annoyingly I spent some time cleaning the car as I wanted to show off the car but I have driven the car recently and with the rubbish weather it’s dirty again. Also my knee is really playing up at the moment so washing it is out of the question and it’s not going near a car wash.

Just another quick update. The solar panel despite being now on the top of the roof was not enough to maintain a fully charged battery during the winter months. Now the days are longer it does now seem to be able to keep the battery fully charged. I have also now purchased a tracker with its own rechargeable battery so no additional drain now. Hopefully I won’t have any further issues.

The blue low mileage one is now owned by another member Peter on here. The same as mine with similar mileage.

I would have liked to have gone with Hagerty but they will only insure a car when it is kept of the public highway. I have been with LV a couple of years now on a multi car policy and the SC is around £300. Renewal is in May so I am not looking forward to how much it is bound to go up bearing in mind the recent hikes. I often wonder how guaranteed insurance works as I know with Hagerty you can say a car is worth up to £19,500 without obtaining a separate valuation. Whats to stop someone over inflating their cars value and getter a bigger payout at their expense?

I think with most things in life if you look at things purely from a financial aspect you would never do anything and life is to short. I have driven abroad for probably at least 25 years although not recently. There is not doubt it has got very expensive to drive in Europe now but what isn’t. The last time I went was in an BMW X5. On top of fuel and tolls doing 2500 miles adds on over £100 in tyre wear and brings servicing costs sooner. Plus extra insurance so all in all it is not cheap. Having said that I love driving abroad so the cost wouldn’t put me off. Trouble is the body is getting older now but the mind is still keen.

I have a funny story while travelling in France on the way back from Italy. I set the sat nav for Luxembourg to get cheap fuel but forgot I had set the sat nav for just France. I ended up in the middle of nowhere in a small Hamlet called Luxembourg with very little fuel left. I was then panicking on a Sunday to find fuel.

That red Lancia is beautiful but the build quality of Italian cars of that age is poor. I bought a brand new Alfasud and when I picked it up the rear doors didn’t shut properly. The paintwork had dreadful orange peal. The seats had no lumbar support whatsoever and the transmission would sound awful when on a slope. The front brake pads only lasted about 3 thousand miles as they were connected to the hand brake and the way it worked wore out one pad more than the rest.

Personally I don’t really like the birds eye maple which is why I wrapped mine. I may be wrong but I don’t it continued on to the face lift models.

A rare colour. Looks quite nice but I think black or red interior would be better. I think the gold badges on white looks a bit tacky as well.

It’s on Juan’s Facebook Group. Same place as before 22nd & 23rd June.

L/H drive and assembled in South Africa and not very original so not really a collectors car.

Personally not sure that the colour scheme looks right. Should have left it just Silver or green. It certainly stands out though but perhaps not for the right reason.

The other thing to remember is if you were a 40% tax payer while working and paid that into a pension you only pay 20% when drawing out as a pension instead of the 40%. However it does seem wrong to have to pay tax as a pensioner when you have paid it all your working life. With the new 8.5% increase I will now have to pay tax on the state pension because the personal allowance is not going up.

Hi Paul, I have just sent a message on messenger regarding the device.

Potential LC500 Owner after a little advice
Glyn Jennings replied to Dingle Dell's topic in Lexus LC500 / LC500h Club
I would love a V8 LC and you never know one day it could happen because I love them. What I have seen is they do not sell as there is no demand certainly in the UK. I have never seen one on the road and only a couple at dealers. This means recently they have really dropped in price and probably will continue to do so. So if you do buy one if ever you want to sell is going to be difficult. It’s such a shame but I guess that the price you pay for exclusivity. My choice would be the metallic red although the green or blue are also nice but seem rarer. Good luck in finding the one you want. I know not everyone’s taste but I love these two. -
Whats the auto position? Down, middle, up? I assume you don’t have to reset the mirrors every time as well.

I found this thread with a detailed description about how to change the battery in the siren on a 2005 Lexus IS which although looks different it might be a starting point if you are brave enough to attempt to change the battery. You can buy a new unit for just under £100 but even a new one may have been made many years ago so the battery may not be that much better. https://charsiurice.wordpress.com/2018/08/14/siren-backup-battery-replacement/

When I bought mine it didn’t have any fitted so I fitted Dolphin sensors front and back. I fitted the flush type and the blue colour they came was a perfect match for my paintwork. Bumpers have to come off and I wired the rear ones to the connector box in boot where the reversing lights are fed from. Worst and most stressful bit was deciding where to position them on the bumpers. The good thing is with the flush ones they provide a hole cutter which makes a perfect hole. If you have the mushroom type already fitted you may be able to change them without taking the bumper off. Your existing ones also may have an inline fuse so that would be worth testing to see if you have power to the control box. Failing that you probably need new sensors.

What is 56000 Feet in miles!

I know I moan about costs just because I am old but I agree. I have never been rich but all my life I paid a lot into a pension fund while paying into SSP and SERP’s as well so have no financial issues and content will what I have so I do feel very privileged. Just waiting for the sun to get the roof down on the SC.

I have the nationwide Flexplus account but once you get to 70 it is £50 each on top of the £13 per month. I also have high blood pressure and asthma which is another £60. So that is another £160 on top of the monthly fee. No fun being old financially.
