  1. And forcing drivers over seventy of the road as apparently they are now incompetent to drive and are a dangerous liability.
  2. Personally I think for that price the mileage needs to be half that amount.
  3. I fitted the same make to mine front and rear but used the flush mount ones. The blue was a perfect match for the original indigo ink pearl paint on the earlier Lexus SC’s and you would never know that weren’t fitted at the time of production. I have to say the flush one’s are a pig to fit as they are fitted from the inside of the bumper plus the double sided adhesive is not strong enough and a couple of them I also had to cut down the mounting plate due to limited space for fixing.
  4. Probably a very desirable car but I can’t see many people will want to pay that for an SC. If they are not willing to drop the price they are going to have dead money hanging around for a long time. Needs to be below 20k to make it a viable buy. I paid half that for mine 5 years older with 7600 miles on the clock. This one is higher tax and you would have to get agreed value insurance and at the price you would have to pay for a professional valuation and who knows what that would come out at. If you didn’t do that and it was written off you would be lucky to get 10-12k
  5. Hi Anthony, it was good reading all your posts over the last couple of years and sad to hear when you had your accident and subsequent health issues. At least you have had the opportunity to own and enjoy owning your SC creating happy memories. I wish you and your family all the best for the future and hope you will still contribute to this forum. Glyn
  6. His son was only a lad well below the driving age.
  7. That was Anthony. At the last two meets his young lad took over the responsibility for organising the parking at the event. I guess his health issues may have meant the SC is no longer practical. We will all get there at some point hopefully later rather than sooner.
  8. I had noticed that Anthony hasn't been very active on here recently like he used to be.
  9. I’ve attended for the last two years on the Sunday and was planning to attend this time but something else has come up so I may now not be there this time.
  10. I believe they have changed the MOT rules in that if you get it done early and it now fails on anything you no longer get until the original expiry day to fix it. It has to be done straight away to be legally roadworthy.
  11. I remember years ago we were in Rouen and my wife had the speciality of the region. The menu was in French, it turned out to be sheep’s foot. It was like a ball of elastic bands in a very strong garlic sauce. Revolting. What do the French do with all the good bits of an animal to eat. The specials always seem to be the rubbish bits.
  12. I did the same. Fortunately it was at home so the spare keys were to hand.
  13. To be honest the one I bought direct from China was identical. However I have bought a lot of mods from Calvin and appreciate all he does and am willing to support him in his business. What you can say if you buy things from him they will work and if they don’t he will refund you straight away. I think where his strength is to develop unique products and solutions for the SC community. We are very lucky to have someone who is as enthusiastic about our cars as he is.
  14. Great video. That's a very intricate mechanism.
  15. Hi Dave, I have PM'ed you Regards Glyn
  16. Hi Dave If you would be prepared to post them and I pay the postage I would love to have them. Regards Glyn
  17. I maybe wrong but I would be surprised if the light reactive function is still operational after all these years. I had a BMW with that type of mirror and one got smashed by a careless van driver. A new mirror glass on it’s own was £400 for a replacement. A good friend of mine who has worked for BMW for years said after a few years the chemical in the mirror eventually leaks out so they no longer work. Hence I had a standard one fitted which was still £120.
  18. Hi Dan, I am just waiting for confirmation of the agreed value and then I will be chuffed. It nice to see you are taking the time to take an interest in owners forums. Regards Glyn
  19. Thats the difference buying direct from source or not and an item flying all around the world attracting shipping, local taxes and import duties in every destination it is sold through.
  20. Interestingly the SC430mods one I did have is exactly the same display and the same apple connector as the one I bought direct from China
  21. I did have the SC430mods one originally but sold it as I wanted one with a lock function as an extra level of theft protection. They are all basically are the same and made in China.
  22. Thanks for trying to help Neil. I've not had time myself to try yet as it is still disconnected. It does have a lock feature that stops the engine being accelerated but that doesn't prevent the engine being started, According to the mechanic when I spoke to him over the phone he said when it was connected the car would not start and the display of the throttle controller did not light up, I can only think that the connecting wire has got damaged or the display unit has packed up caused by the work carried out as it was working fine before otherwise they wouldn't have been able to drive it into the workshop. if if was something that was a standard fitment on the car I would expect them to put it right. I bought it direct from China for around £40 so I will probably just buy another one rather than trying o repair this one.
  23. If that’s the American ones it will be because the reflectors are red at the back and amber on the front. The dimensions however are the same. When I bought mine I asked the seller to supply 4 amber ones with clear lens so if I ever wanted to wire the up they would be all amber as we use as standard in the UK. I also sourced the bulb holders and connectors to facilitate. All the new clear LED ones are made in china. I have purchased somethings from the US at higher cost and then found out that they are made in China. So it is cheaper and greener to buy things direct from China.
  24. Just picked the car up today following the airbag recall after having had the car for 3 days. I haven’t notice any squeaks or rattles so far and got a clean health check. Only issue is the throttle controller doesn’t work anymore. If it’s connected the car won’t start so it’s now disconnected. Guess I will have to buy a new one.
  25. Mine is pre facelift and these fitted perfectly from ebay. They are the ones that light up but the fitment in the bumper is the same. I am not sure if later models are the same dimensions mine being 183mm length x 38mm high. I am not sure this seller is still selling them. Alternatively SC430mods sell them https://www.sc430mods.com/product-page/clear-corners-all-4-included-smoke-also-available
