Update. Calvin sent me a replacement wiring kit for the reversing camera which came this morning. I have now fitted it and works perfectly. Calvin is a Top Guy.

Welcome Paul, I am sure you will love your SC. I love your colour. When I was looking to buy one last year that was the colour I was looking for but there was only one available in that colour which was being sold by a dealer and I felt it was over priced. It looks incredible when the sun shines on it. I ended up with a blue one which I also love.

Hi Anthony, Thanks for your message. I had to reply on the thread as I couldn’t seem to attach pictures in a message. So I have attached photos of mine below. Sorry about all the reflections they make the car look horrible when it is not. On the back bumper they are all 16” (405mm) centreline apart from each other so the middle two are 8” from the centre of the bumper. The outer two I didn’t go further out as the sensors have a flat surface so as the bumper curves they would not sit flat unless you go further around to get a flatter surface on the side of the bumper which I did not want. I basically copied the position where Rich Walker put his on his car on the Lexus World Forum except mine are flush fit. I did need to trim part of the foam behind the bumper where the sensor was going. The front bumper middle two are 1 1/2” (35mm) centreline of the sensor from each side of the numberplate holder and the outer two are 15 1/2” (387mm) centreline from the middle ones. Good luck with your install

Regarding the front sensors I fitted them using the same fixing method running the four sensor cables in corrugated cable sleeving on the off side of the engine bay then through a hole which is already made below the main wiring grommet in the bulkhead. I used cable rods to help feed the cables through to under the dash which made it a lot easier. The main box it tied up behind the panel below the steering wheel using cable ties. I fitted the on/off switch in the same panel. On the back of the panel it has the markings where a switch can be fitted. To make a neat hole for the switch that came with my sensors I purchased a 20mm hole punch.

I fitted flush fit front and rear sensors to mine a few months ago. My main tip would be not to rush it. The bumper needs to be removed which you will find posts already on doing that. Personally I found removing the rear bumper was easier that the front. The most nerve racking bit is working out where you are going to fit them on the bumper and measuring the distance between the sensors correctly and level. I used masking tape to get a level line across the bumper and for marking the positions. Use the hole punch cutting tool from the front of the bumper and you will find it makes a really neat hole. If you look at my build thread on this forum you will see where I positioned mine but where you fit them is up to you. I put two of mine above the number plate but it is a really tight gap which needs careful measuring as there is only just enough room for the sensor itself to be fitted after removing the outer adhesive fixing ring. I personally found these fixing rings useless anyway as even after clearing the surface of the bumper I could not get them to stick. My solution was to remove the ring and use a quality building adhesive instead. This does mean you have to put the sensor in the predrilled hole the right amount so that it is flush with the surface of the bumper. I ran the four sensor cables through the nearside boot floor grommet where the reversing light wiring goes through. My parking sensor control box is down the side beneath the nearside pocket. You need to get a feed from the reversing light power supply which I took from the electric fuse box on the nearside to the left of the sat nav and ML amp . I don't really like scotch clips for joining into cables but I did in this instance as it was easier. I also took a feed for the dash cam rear camera from the same point. I have added photos of this. The first two are upside down looking at the fuse box. I ran my rear camera cable from the boot area to the centre console following the cables that are under the removable metal cover in the centre under the rear seat. You can use the existing hole they use to run camera cable to the boot. I hope this helps

This car in question also has front and rear parking sensors fitted. I would check they work OK as sometimes they fail on an older cars.

The thing is if I had wanted to sound like a Subaru or a Ford Focus with a 6” exhaust I would have bought one of them. I really like a good sounding exhaust having had a TVR in the past but there is a level where it becomes obnoxious almost sounding like the exhaust is blowing and that how mine ended up in my opinion. Today I am really pee’d off as I put the OEM muffler box back on only to find one of the tailpipes is dropping again. When I had the new section made up without the resonators I had to take it back to the fabricator for the same issue. I now realise they fudged the fix as when I took the muffler off I noticed it was only secured on one side so obviously the alignment is still not right on the new section they made. I am starting to wish I hadn’t now gone down the exhaust modification route as both times I have had bits made they have not been right for some reason or other so wasted a lot of money and not got what I am looking for. The only saving grace is I still have the old sections of the exhaust which are in good condition. Thankfully a lot of owners have ended up with a modification they are happy with but unfortunately so far it has eluded me.

I updated my build thread with my latest work on my exhaust. How owners live with how loud the exhaust is when it is straight through pipes from the 3rd cat to the tips I don’t know. It is OK in the the car with the roof and windows up but is really loud outside the car. To much for me and I am not sure it is even at a legal level so I will be taking the straight through muffler section off again. It certainly gets peoples attention though if that is what you want.
-
Today I got round to refitting the straight pipes replacing the OEM rear muffler to the new resonator delete section I had made and that has got rid of the terrible drone I was getting with the straight through pipes fitted with resonators still fitted. However it is now not to loud within the car but it is really load outside of the car which is to much for my preference. It is much louder that the clip below so much so people look up or turn round when I approach them. So I will be putting the OEM muffler back on for now and perhaps next year think about adding a sports muffler IMG_4156.MOV

Thanks Ken that’s very helpful in that it may mean it is just my camera that is the issue for me.
-
Hi Ken. Thanks for posting the picture. I am a bit confused as to why your parking lines plus measurements and the stop sign are different to mine and others I have seen for the SC430mods setup. Did you order the one with the predictive telemetry from Calvin in other words when you turn your steering wheel do the lines move? Maybe it could also be your fitting company fitted a different camera to the SC430mods setup for some reason.
-
I think you will be OK Ken as Calvin has come back to me and said the green wire on my harness is defective so it looks like it is just me. Tomorrow I will test it with a multimeter.
-
After doing my own research I think the camera itself is probably the issue as some are PAL some are NTSC and some are able to switch between the two.

I ordered the SC430mods rear view camera and it arrived today. I have just finished installing it and it was pretty straight forward apart from me knocking over my quarter inch socket set with stuff going everywhere and one socket rolling into a one inch round hole that was impossible to get to with no other access. Fortunately I was able to retrieve it with one of those telescopic magnet tools. I had visions of it rolling round while driving the car and in turn would have driven me nuts. I didn't use the camera fixing bracket as intended to fix behind the number plate but instead shortened the bracket to the size of the gap between the rear number plate lights and attached it in this gap with double sided tap. This did mean reattaching the camera to the bracket the other way up which was easy to do. The only other different thing I did was to run the wire to the camera through a hole I made in the rubber grommet in the boot which I will seal with some silicone rather than run the wires at the side of the grommet where they would be touching the metal bodywork. After all this I have come across a slight problem which I have contacted Calvin at SC430mods about in that the image is mostly black and white and the yellow parking lines are purple. Having said that it does work and is usable. This may be down to my clumsiness in fitting it or a faulty unit. I have also queried with Calvin as whether this may be related to an NTSC/PAL issue ie do SC430 Sat Navs in the UK use the PAL system to input to the screen and other markets use NTSC to input to the screen. I will report back when I here from Calvin. Ken - I will be interested to see if you have the same issue when yours is fitted rather than just me. If you haven't arranged fitting yet you might want to wait to see what Calvin comes back with. Calvin is a very straight guy who will sought things out for his customers. Here’s some photos bearing in mind I have two cameras. The one on the left is for the dash cam.

Not the English offering but similar I would guessLexus_US SC_2010-1.pdf

To be honest I spend weeks looking at wheels and really struggled to find something that I liked and was in stock and gave up. These wheels are a bit of a gamble for me as to how they look on the car which I won’t really know until I get them. I am hoping they look good but if I don’t like them I will sell them on. They are extremely rare, expensive and difficult to get hold of so they should keep their value hopefully. The trouble is most of the wheels I really like are mostly on cars outside the UK and very difficult to find in this country.

Thanks for the info on delivery and custom charges. I was an gas engineer many years ago so am well versed in taking things apart and enjoy the challenge. As for the front facing camera I like to have both. I also have a RX450h which has front and rear cameras as well as on the sides so I guess I am used to being spoilt. If ever you get to buy an RX they are such a nice car compared to it’s rivals. You just can’t throw it around and the fuel consumption is not great.

I have now sold all the SC bits I had for sale on eBay so I’ve decided to buy one of the SC430mods rear view camera myself as I like the idea of having the camera view on the sat nav screen. I probably won’t use the bracket to mount the camera though as I like the flush fit stuck on numberplate look. What would be cool is if you could fit a additional front facing camera on a switch to this setup using the same feed into the sat nav. I am sure it could be done does anyone have any ideas? I realise it would mean running wires from the front of the car to the boot which would not be a problem for me as I reckon they isn’t any interior panel I haven’t already removed at some point. I would just need advice on where to make the connections to power the camera and video feed.

I played around with a photo editor and put the wheels I am waiting for on a blue SC. I ordered them in March this year and they are now made but not even on the boat yet from Japan. I hope they are worth the wait.

Found it on the SC430mods forum on Facebook. A written guide with pictures on how to install the camera thanks to Mark Dressel. Here’s the link https://www.facebook.com/groups/5768778186473135/permalink/8210156749001921/

Here a link to the installation video I thought someone also did a guide to installing it on the SC430 UK Facebook Forum but I can’t find it now. That’s the trouble with Forums on Facebook you can never find anything afterwards.

You might get a way without customs charges. I have bought several products from SC430mods and not paid any.

I also have a reversing camera setup made by Wolfbox where the screen fits over the existing rear view mirror. It also has front and rear dash cams. It does work well but not so good in sunny days especially so with the top down. You can also turn it off and use it as a normal mirror. I fitted it at the end of last year but now I probably would have gone for the SC430mods.com reversing camera as that one does connect to the existing Sat Nav screen for viewing. I still then would have to find a front and rear dash cam setup. I may at some point fit the SC430mods one as well as the Wolfbox and have two cameras about the rear number plate. The Wolfbox is the same height as the existing rear view mirror but extends over the end for the front camera to view forward. Visually I don’t thing it looks to bad considering it is strapped to the rear view mirror. For me it is a compromise to get front and rear dash cams.

The thing is my neighbour is a nice guy and we get on well although we don’t socialise. I guess he’s not going to give up his parking space just for me. Bizarrely at the time when I asked him he said he would but then never did. I am at a time in life where I want to live peacefully so I don’t let it bother me. No stress live longer is the plan.

I envy you in that I would love a garage full stop. My SC has to sit in the road but at least it is a relatively quiet Cul de sac. Having said that I do have a garage but it is unusable as the front of it is opposite the back of a row of houses back gardens. Because everyone has so many cars these days they now park their cars there which leaves me about 10 feet to get the car in and out. I did ask my neighbour a few years back if he could not park there so I could use my garage but he still does. Interestingly my three children converted their garages in to rooms as so many people do now. I am beginning to think that a garage is a luxury now.
