  1. i met up with Toby last year when I had problems with my muffler delete and saw all the mods he has done to his. Really nice chap and lives very near me. i hope to catch up with him again this year when the weather gets better.
  2. You and Steve (WIL44) seem to be the only ones who have really upped the mods on your cars in the UK. I think the general age demographic of owners and their numbers in the UK determine the extent of mods carried out. That plus the cost compared to the value of the car. I myself have spent about £5500 on mods but £3500 of that was on the wheels and tyres alone.
  3. Hi Neil, thanks for the info. I know you did yours and had quite a bit jiggling to get all the bit’s to fit but you did end up with something special which I did see at the meeting last year. If I did it I would have by a another SC for the project so not really practical and I don’t have a garage or off road parking either. To keep costs down I would also want to do most of the work myself apart from paintwork.
  4. This looks like good value for money. If I didn’t need to keep mine from being taken back to stock to retain it’s value easily I would be tempted. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/403922825980?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=0c2XQ1bCR3S&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=fgLYK3NFS2u&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
  5. Your solution will surely give you piece of mind. Panel edges have thin paint levels and are always prone to chipping especially on a door that is curved, Even though my car was in great condition when I bought it there were quite a few chips on the passenger door that in strong sunlight looked awful. My car is only used occasionally just by me so I just touched them up successfully with a Chipex kit. I am not endorsing their product but I have used it on a couple of different cars now and have had good results. You get micro brushes in the kit which you can also buy separately elsewhere which I think helps. A cocktail stick also works well especially after you have already downed the cocktail. Some one will tell me why but I have never understood why base coats on cars is always white so chips and scratches stick out like a sore thumb. I I guess it all comes down to cost,.
  6. Anthony I thought I was obsessed with my SC but you have trumped me. I will just have to get a Lexus logo tattoo to level up.
  7. Wow, that's awful I hope you recover to full health in due course. Life can change in an instant I know a couple of people who have just been doing ordinary things but some thing has gone wrong and survived but their lives will never be the same. We just have to thankful for every day we are able to appreciate it.
  8. Thats my wife sorted. I have told her she will still have to use the kitchen table until she gets the ironing board for her birthday. She also has to still use a broom until energy prices drop.
  9. I remember enjoying reading Steve's and your build threads on Lexusworld. It's a shame that's all gone as it was such a good resource
  10. I have often thought how nice it would be to be able to raise the quarter windows with the roof down and lower them with the roof up sometimes. I know there was a kit available years ago to do this but it hasn’t been available for a long time. I wrote something further on this but realise I need to edit it so will add to this post when I get the info correct
  11. I think it may have been down to me. Today I rediscovered how to redirect the air to the windscreen and put it in recirculating mode the air in the car and it was much quicker. I did read the manual quite comprehensively 18 months ago when I first got the RX but obvious have forgotten most of it now but at over seven hundred pages this is a lot to remember on top of the further over three hundred pages for the infotainment and satellite navigation system. So much high tech and so many settings but I guess thats progress for you.
  12. No problem. That’s exactly what I mean’t but you have explained it much clearer.
  13. My RX is a great car but the time for defrosting and demisting is abysmal unlike the SC. I wonder if it is because it is a hybrid.
  14. It allows for two sets of wheels to be set. One set button pushed and another not pushed as in winter tyres. It doesn’t reset the TPMS when the pressure changed. On the later models there is s button under the steering column that does reset the TPMS.
  15. Winter has definitely arrived but I did go out Monday and yesterday in the SC. One of my RX wheels needed diamond cutting as I caught it on a kerb. An insurance job but over 20 miles away and I didn’t fancy driving that distance on a spacesaver and the 20” RX wheel fitted in the boot of the SC. Lovely and sunny albeit cold on both days. I have to say I am so impressed with how good the sound of the ML system is particularly streaming music from my iPhone via the SC430mods.com Bluetooth adaptor. I have had several BMW’s with high end systems and they haven’t sounded as good. However what I do find strange is how poor the ML system is in the RX, sounding very thin and lacking any sound stage. A friend of mine had recommended a group called The War on Drugs so l have just started listening to them and am really enjoying their music. They are an old American rock group which I had never heard of. Nowadays I find it hard to find new artists that play music I want to listen to. Old bands didn’t just sing songs but took you on a journey through their music. I recommend you give them a listen. I particularly like tracks Under the Pressure and Red Eyes. What do you think? Any other artists you love to listen to? SC is now back under it’s cover now. If only I had a garage then I wouldn’t have to wash and dry the car every time i put the cover back on.
  16. I hope to attend on the Sunday unless there is a good reason I can’t attend.
  17. I think last years meeting was Sunday the 10th July so next year could be the 9th July if it sticks to it's anniversary date. It was arranged by Juan Thornes who runs the Lexus SC430 Club UK group on Facebook so I guess he will do the same next year and let people know. I think the announcement of the date and time was only made on the 10th June so it was quite short notice so it would be better to set a date sooner so more people can plan around it.
  18. I told my insurance company I had aftermarket wheels and exhaust mod. No extra charge but there always seems an admin charge.
  19. When I had my BMW 335d I had a Superchips remap on it. You installed it or removed it by a device called Bluefin that attached to the OBD port. Looking at their website it looks like they also have a remap for the SC430. When I had the BMW I removed the remap to sell the car but the program crashed and really messed up the electronics on the car and it was undriveable. It was with the BMW dealership for over a week sorting it out. Fortunately the Service Manager is a friend of mine so I got it sorted for a low price. The upshot is after that horrible stressful experience I will never entertain any sort of ecu mod again but I do have the SC430mods.com throttle controller as it doesn’t alter the cars main ecu.
  20. Hi Anthony, out of interest how much do you hear your exhaust with the roof and windows up? With my straight through muffler delete I do hear the exhaust every time I touch the throttle. Whereas when I am not touching the accelerator I don’t here the exhaust at all.
  21. That’s really useful information. I only have a foam puncture kit in mine at the moment but if I were to go touring round the UK or abroad I would definitely look to obtain a spare tyre. Having said that I have done a few hundred thousand miles in 53 years of driving and I have only had one occasion where the tyre was so bad it couldn’t have been pumped up enough to get to a local garage and that was driving to Italy fortunately I did have a spare tyre. I guess I must have been lucky.
  22. Yes welcome Steve. You car is the same year as mine. The SC430 is a great under appreciated car which you will never realise until you own one. Sun is out today so l have been out in mine. Bit to cold to have the roof down though.
  23. Sc430mods.com is now selling a new improved version for $95 which now doesn’t drop the volume when listening to radio. I have ordered one myself.
