I have decided to go back to the Disklok for now as I now see you can get a protective cover to put on before the Disklok is fitted so it doesn't mark the wheel. The Disklok is a really unwieldy to put on and off and store but needs must and it is a good visual deterrent. I did inquire about a Scorpion canbus immobiliser but they said the SC430 doesn't have a canbus system which I am not sure is correct however bearing in mind their response I think it is going to be to difficult to fit this type of immobiliser to an SC.

My throttle controller is in the ashtray as picture below.

I either use my iphone or PC to view this forum and have just noticed when you view this site on the PC there is a search option yet on the iphone there is not. So I have found the answer to that query myself.

Thanks for the suggestion. This is very similar to the Ghost and similar price. When I have the Ghost fitted to the RX I will also inquire whether that and Scorpion are suitable for the SC430. One you could fit your self would be handy to keep the cost down. I understand there are two types of CanBus systems, 2A and later cars 2B. Perhaps the SC is 2A and that is why it is not listed. No car on the Ghost list is older than 2008 and most are newer than that.

Firstly I can’t remember if I have already posted something on this and unless I am being thick I can’t find anyway of quickly searching for a topic. Am I missing something? So as part of my obsession with my SC I want to make it as difficult as I can for someone to steal it especially as it is just parked out in the road along with my RX and I have spent a lot of money on it including £3500 on wheels and tyres alone. I am well aware if someone really wants your wheels or car they will persevere and could even put it on a low loader which you can not prevent. I have 3 different locking wheel nuts on each wheel in a attempt to slow them down or put them off. In that event it might be easier to just take the whole car. I am going to get a Ghost immobiliser fitted to my RX450h as it is now number 6 in the top 10 cars stolen in the UK often by tapping into the Canbus system under the front wheel arch. The SC430 is not listed a vehicle suitable for this to be fitted therefore I have considered the following options. 1. Fit some sort of electrical fuel cut off device. Although having looked at where the plug to the pump is there is hardly any wiring showing to connect into and it is open to the elements. 2. Try to stop the handbrake release mechanism being released. 3. Lock the gear selector in the park position. l already have a cheap tracker fitted but it won’t stop someone taking the car. I also have Disklok steering lock which I don’t like using as is is prone to marking the wheel. Any suggestions welcome.

I think don’t they look to bad to me especially if you get the Lexus centres. I think if you didn’t know different they are how they were meant to be.

The sun broke out today so I took the opportunity to fit the window module. It was pretty straightforward just undo two plugs, fix those into two on the module then the other two on the module plug back in where the original ones were after removing the boot trim. This then left running two wires under the rear seat to the centre console box. The worst bit was feeding these two wires through from the boot which was a fiddle as the hole they needed to come through was just up behind the seat back. I was being lazy as if I had removed the back of the seat as well it would have been a lot easier. It then enters the centre console compartment at the back where there is a plastic cover you pop out to release the boot manually if you ever need to. On testing the unit everything works well as you can see in the photos. A couple of observations are 1. The suppled cable is only long enough to reach into the centre console compartment so if you wanted to plug it in where the ashtray is you would have to extend the cable. 2. When you raise the quarter windows up or down you need to press once then again to go fully down or up. These are not really a great issue though it you want to be able to control your quarter windows independently to the roof. The instructions are very clear but at the moment I haven’t committed to memory the sequence for which button to press when. I haven’t driven the car yet so cannot comment if there and difference to wind buffering in either the up or down position.

So it’s arrived this morning from Japan after one week via FEDEX and TNT which out performs EVRI when they only have to travel 200 miles in the UK. It cost me another £22 to get it shipped so the total cost is £155. So windy and wet today and as I have to fit it outside I need a nice dry day.

I don’t think generally they are adjustable but you could just tape some foam or something round the speaker.

I’m on my 3rd type of phone holder for the SC and still have found one that I really like. The first one I already had that worked well in my BMW as it slotted in the CD slot. However the CD slot on the SC has a flap that seals it off and only opens when putting a CD in or out. The second one pushes on the air vent but obscures the sat nav when in the horizontal position. The latest one hooks and tightens to the vent slats but is a poor fit, doesn’t tighten well and because it is bigger and I have an iphone 12 pro max it is wobbling all the time. I wasn’t as keen on sticking one in the dash especially as it is quite a big phone as Nexus7 has done but I realise now that it may be the best option. What do others use?

I must confess I am not one to compare different sound sources but I do like a quality sound in always having had at interest in HiFi since a young age and done a fair bit of mixing for live bands. Perhaps it is my age and ears now that I don’t find Bluetooth an issue apart from the occasional crackle or interference which only lasts for a couple of seconds. At home I also use it to stream to a Cambridge Audio streaming unit to Kef Speakers. I have found using FM and cassette adapters have given me poor quality sound in the past. I also find the Mark Levinson audio in the SC to be very good whereas in the RX it is very poor with little or no soundstage. Not wishing to make this in to a HiFi thread or endorse a product but the best experience of listening to music I have is via in-ear Bose quiet comfort in-ear headphones again via Bluetooth. They have the effect of putting the music right inside your head and your hear bits you don’t hear normally through traditional speakers. The Bose ones are also so comfortable to wear as the don’t actually go into your ear canal like the Shure one’s I had that made my ears sore. You also get a better sound from a iphone if you don’t max the volume and instead increase the volume on the device it is going to. Having said we all different and have different expectations which is probably a Godsend.

I installed the SC430mods.com Bluetooth adaptor and for streaming music and phone calls from my iphone 12 I find the sound quality excellent and I am used to listening to music on a high quality music setup. The only downside to the version I have is when listening to radio or tape the unit drops the volume but a new version is being introduced that corrects this issue. I also have the SC430mods.com rear camera fitted. Both of them are not massively difficult to fit with connections that just fit into existing connectors and interior trim removal for which there are videos showing the process. These mods are cost effective as apposed to the work involved in putting a double din system in. It’s all down to how much you want to spend and features required.

Mine came with the Pie Plates as well which are not to my taste either. The only place I have seen the replacement spinners for sale is on ebay from the US which works out quite expensive with shipping etc. I did end up buying some from another UK owner that were on refurbished wheels so I used those and sold my existing wheels which needed refurbishing without any inserts. Since then I have put on some nice new alloys but am keeping the OEM wheels as the car is worth more with the original wheels if ever I sell it.

Thats odd as I have also done mine as well without any issues as soon as I disconnected the two plugs. Is it definitely the TPMS light and not the VSC one?

I couldn't decide whether or not to build my own module and had seen this one on You Tube from Japan recently. Having seen a short review on it today by a guy in the US on Facebook I thought I would give it a go and order one. I think I could have build my own for a modest cost but I like the fact this is ready made and you basically plug it in. it was £133 and not that easy to buy as it is on a Yahoo Japan Auction site only for Japanese buyers so you have to use another Japanese site to buy it for you and then they ship it to you. I will see how it goes and will update this thread.

Wow, thats a lot of work. When I bought mine 18 months ago it had only 7400 miles on it. It had just been in to Lexus for new timing belt, tyres battery and radiator. Consequently I did pay probably double that of a high mileage example but still less than it’s worth. In the time I have had it it has been mechanically excellent. The only fault with it was a blown speaker in the drivers door which I repaired. You obviously can buy a cheap one as a bit of a project or pay a lot more for one that is fully sorted. Great cars either way.

I have front and rear dash cams fitted and a tracker. I only drive the car occasionally so what I do is connect my Ctek battery charger for 24 hours every 2-3 week that way I never have a flat battery.

That would sell well to US owners, They seem to love their luggage.

I got my fingers burnt many years ago regarding this. I bought a secondhand Nikon lens from a private seller in the US via ebay because it was cheaper than buying from a UK seller. When it arrived via the postman I had to pay another £53 pounds. Royal mail & customs charged £12.50 just open the box to inspect it and even though it was secondhand I had to pay VAT on the price it sold for new in the UK so I didn’t save anything in the end. Strange thing is that since then I have bought several things from the US including from SC430mods and never paid anything on top of the postage.

Your GS460 is certainly a rare car that I didn't know existed.

I would hang on to your SC it is really unique and special plus you have put so much time and effort into it as well as money. You never know if you do sell it you might wish at some point you hadn’t. I am getting on a bit now and in 53 years I have owned nearly 30 cars but my SC is the one I feel most attached to. The RX is a lovely car and I really like it but it is not quick nor particularly economical. I recently changed the tyres on the RX to Michelin Sport EV tyres and they give a lot harder ride so I now wish I had gone for the non EV ones but having spent £800 on them I am stuck with them.

I think it is OK but I don’t think it flows very well. It does look like it’s just been stuck on the glass rather than styled with the rest of the car. My personal view is that roof spoilers look better on hatchbacks and estate cars as opposed to a boot spoiler on a car with a boot which can be an appealing addition providing you don’t go silly. However if you like it go for it it’s your car and we are all different in what we like and don’t like. It might look great in the flesh especially if the car had a boot spoiler as well to balance it out looks wise.

Rather than buy another SC part of me wants to swap the RX for a GSF but the price they sell for is above what I want to spend. They may be rare but around £40,000 for a 7 year old car I think is overpriced compared to other Marques. If it was £30,000 I would be tempted. They also seem to hang around for bit before they sell which may mean it is not on many peoples wish list. I bought a four year old BMW X5 M50d from a BMW dealer that was £75.000 new for £29.000 with 60,000ml on the clock. When I sold it to buy the RX it was 9 years old and I struggled to get £17,000 at 84,000ml. The first LC500's which I love also go for around £50,000 now but again there doesn't seem much of a market for them.
