I may be wrong but I don’t think they did a black shifter plate I thought they were all dark grey regardless of the trim colours on the preface lift cars.

New wheels - does an inch or two make a difference
Glyn Jennings replied to Smellyone's topic in Lexus SC430 Club
I run !9"wheels on standard suspension and don't think it has made much difference to ride quality however I have read about several owners who have gone for 20" wheels and have reverted back to smaller, The reason being ride quality and more likely damage by potholes. -
Hi Jav, my SC was supplied with the standard light colour birds eye maple wood trim from new. I wrapped all the trim in carbon vinyl plastic and bought an aftermarket carbon fibre gear knob shifter via ebay so unfortunately I can't help you. I think it is going to be difficult finding anyone who has a new OEM black one and to be honest I am not sure :Lexus ever did a black one rather than the dark smoke grey colour. You might possibly find a second hand one on the Japan Yahoo auction site as a lot of SC spare parts are sold on that site. alternatively you might find what you are looking for on a different Lexus model that should fit.

SC430 struggle to run when stepping on gas pedal
Glyn Jennings replied to Dukewin's topic in Lexus SC430 Club
I am not an expert on this but it might be worth a try cleaning the MAF sensor as it is any easy job. Two bolts attach it on the air inlet after the filter and spray with a special spray that is easily available. -
I like the grille surround painted black. Hasn’t got current TAX or MOT. Looks a bit suspicious to me. Why would you take pictures at a petrol station.

Another thing to moan about is since reaching 70 years old I can’t drive a minibus or a motorhome depending on it’s weight unless I get a medical check up done by a doctor. Why can I can drive both at 69 but not at 70 when I now drive safer than I did in my youth. Moan over. Good luck with the sale.

I know it was a problem in lockdown because Hybrid's were not being driven for weeks on end which was is what I was told by Lexus at the time. I doubt it is a problem now but withy any car if you don't drive it on a regular basis a trickle charger may need to used depending how often the car is used.

Looks like you might be right about the 2012 date which I was mot aware of so assumed a TPMS light on would be a MOT failure. Bob may be the best person to advise. Something else I did spot that I wasn’t aware of while checking this out is that a tyre over 10 years old on a steerable front axle is also a failure because of the age regardless of condition. Makes you wonder how safe the tyres are on all these classic cars that don’t need an MOT.

I’d still have a LC500 with the V8 myself any day.

I posted this in a different forum which is my experience regarding the tracker, I had mine fitted to my RX Tuesday last week both the tracker and the OBD. I left the dealer with the Tracker card and was told I would be sent documents by Tracker. I rang Tracker today as I hadn't received anything and they emailed the dealership and it is now sorted. They don't issue stickers as they don't believe advising a would be thief that a tracker is fitted so they don't go looking for it. The Tracker fitted is a S7 Locate as far as I am aware and Lexus have paid for a 3 year subscription but it does not seem to be transferable to a new owner if you sell the car. That is what the Tracker T & C s say however it might be different as Lexus paid for the subscription and not me. My car is a 2016 so already 8 years old so I doubt if I still have the car in 3 years time I will renew it. From my understanding of the system I don't actually see the point of the geofence on the app as if it is on apparently you will get an alert by email every time you drive the car that needs a response back to Tracker to say the car is not being stolen within the range selected for any given location. You can set this to a range of 250m to 5000m. The other option on the app is to use safe mode with will alert Tracker if the car is moved at all. This does mean you will have to turn in on and off every time you enter or leave the car via the app which although a pain seems to be the best option. So with this Tracker, Pandora Storm Immobiliser and plates fitted I don't see what much else can be done to make the my car any more protected from theft. Update. Using the safe on and off mode I do find sometimes I still get an email alert from tracker regarding safe mode but not on every occasion. I have a cheap stand alone tracker on my SC430 and the alert system is much better as the tracker sends a notification and text to my phone if the car moves or vibration detected. Obviously it is not tracked by a third party but I would know where the car is whereas with the new monitored Tracker as soon as you let them know it has been stolen you cannot track it yourself on the app. I guess this is to stop you getting involved with dealing with the thieves which you probably wouldn't want to do anyway. It was free and it might make insurance easier so I went for it. The best option obviously is to stop them driving it off in the first place. Watched a couple of LC500 YouTube videos today and boy I really want one.

Hi Alan, I am not sure this is any help or not. Tech stream TPMS 2002 - 2006 SC 430 REGISTER TRANSMITTER ID a. Set the inflation pressure of all tires to the normal value. b. Connect the LEXUS hand-held tester to DLC3. c. Turn the ignition switch ON. d. When registering to "Main": 1. Using the LEXUS hand-held tester, select the registration mode,"Main". 2. Forcibly transmit the transmitter IDs for all wheels. HINT: * The transmitter ID can be transmitted by rapidly reducing the tire inflation pressure. * When rapidly reducing the pressure, loosen the valve core. * Increase or decrease the tire inflation pressure by 20 kPa (0.2 kgf/sq.cm, 2.9 psi) or more within 15 sec. for each tire. 3. Using the LEXUS hand-held tester, make sure that the number of the registered ID is 4. HINT: If the operation of step (d) does not complete within 5 min., it will return to the normal operation mode. Also, if the number of the registered ID is less than 4 after 5 min. has elapsed, turning on the ignition switch will make the tire pressure warning light light up for 3 sec., go out for 0.5 sec., then up again and remain ON in the normal operation mode. In this case, do the operation again from the start. e. When registering to "2nd": 1. Using the LEXUS hand-held tester, select the registration mode,"2nd". HINT: If the operation of step e. does not complete within 5 min., it will return to the normal operation mode. Also, if the number of the registered ID is less than 4 after 5 min. has elapsed, turning on the ignition switch will make the tire pressure warning light light up for 3 sec., go out for 0.5 sec., then up again and remain ON in the normal operation mode. In this case, do the operation again from the start. f. Using the LEXUS hand-held tester, check that the last 3 bits of the 4 registered ID codes are different each other. g. Setting the inflation pressure of all tires to normal value completes the transmitter ID registration. know, it's been addressed many times in different ways but I could not find a thread dedicated to Testing and Programming the TPMS sensors in our cars. I am pretty sure this applies to years 2002-2006... i Am only going to show how to find the bad sensor for now and will show Programming when the new sensor arrives. your techstream software, connect the OBDII connector to your car. Once it detects your car Select Tire Pressure Monitor from the menu. had an error code for ID2 As you see, Techstream provides plenty of data from the TPMS sensor. Easy to read and diagnose. The low voltage and extremely high temp was the giveaway this was the bad sensor.

Thats where I fitted the switch for my front sensors but if you have no front sensors it’s not that. I had to make the hole to fit the switch so as far as I am aware there is no switch fitted there by Lexus normally.
