I had Pirelli P Zero 20” on the Beemer, the road noise was significantly greater than what I’m experiencing with the Lexus.

A bit early to make a decent assessment of fuel consumption, the engine will still be a bit tight, i’ll report back once its done >1k miles. The cabin is surprisingly quiet even with the RFT’s, much more so than my BMW X2 which was very noisy.

Politicians will always find a way David.

Its easy, they will meter power for EV charging separately and at a higher tariff as well as apply VED to EV’s as well. Its looking like 13 amp domestic ring main charging will be pretty useless in real world use and most modern EV’s will need 3.7 to 7 KW/hr capability for charging.

Meanwhile here in Europe we are finding out that eco driven politics has resulted in us being unable to meet our own demand for essential hydrocarbon fuels and subsidiary products. Exploration and production canned because the green lobby say we must do without it to save the planet. Now Russia pull all the strings for European energy supplies, just where Putin wants us. We simply can’t stop using oil and gas, there’s no viable alternative yet, so we import it at greater cost to the environment from unregulated countries who couldn’t care less about pollution. Sorry it’s a bit off topic but it doesn’t make any sense at all.

Yes, this was available and showed my order number, you might need to contact the dealership for help / advice.

Can anyone advise what models are fitted with this function and how it operates, can it be selected and de-selected from the menu? Can’t get mine to operate and I’m beginning to think it’s not fitted.

From my experience of forums everyone will have different opinions on what they consider as being best, after all the choice is a subjective one. Thinkware, Viofo, Blackvue, Nextbase are all very capable manufacturers each having model ranges to suit customer requirements and budgets.

I had insurance declined because Direct Line had incorrect power specification and because I had to renew through a telephone advisor he asked me to verify information he was stating was correct at ever stage. They had correct model designation and naming convention but he stated it was 107 horsepower which I immediately pointed out was not the case, long conversation ensued and he said the information was supplied by the underwriters and had to be accurate. I pointed out that Wikipedia confirmed that the hybrid motor is capable of delivering 107 HP and this is obviously incorrect detail at DL end. They said they could not change this information as it had to be accurate and that they therefore were unable to insure my car. I also pointed out that there could be UX owners who renewed online and maybe didn't notice this detail, he said it is the customers responsibility to ensure that all of the stated details are correct and that wrong information such as this could void the policy. Now you might say this could be argued in court but I would prefer not to take on the might of a major company in court, this would just increase the stress following some kind of accident / claim being processed. However replacing filament lamps (bulbs) with LED's surely cannot be considered to be a "modification" as it simply replaces something already fitted to that car with something else that works in exactly the same way. As has been said they might have been fitted prior to you purchasing the car and how could you know that?

If I remember correctly the app will gradually update and move to the build phase, from there it moves to shipping, then to arrived at portbury docks, then it's processed by Lexus UK from the distribution center at Derby. last is delivered to dealership I looked at the Portbury docks arrivals and managed to track the ship according to the dealership arrival estimate. It seems like an eternity and it's the longest I've ever had to wait on a new factory build, it's not just Lexus though it affects all marques of cars, some have a lead time of 12 months!

Agree, it's just as important to record what going on there as it is on the front!

Here is a step by step guide from another forum for a Viofo A129 which appears to be a good quality but as I say that's personal choice. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ux-models-2019-present/960258-dash-cam-progress-thread-viofo-a129-duo.html?utm_source=LexusOwnersClubUK&utm_medium=ForumLinks

There are some quite useful threads on this if you do a quick search, this combined with some other member experiences and comments helped me along to decide. I ended up fitting a Nexbase 622GW 2 channel (front and rear) dash cam myself which isn't actually that hard to do once you get our head around things and plan it. I had considered getting the Lexus dealership model GW322 but took the plunge and ended up with the more up to date 4k version for less than the dealership price. In terms of wiring its easy to tuck them into the roof lining and follow the door seals and panels (avoiding air bags), the power can be supplied from the fuse box if you purchase the hard wiring kit and uses a 2 amp "piggy back" fuse holder. There's quite a big variation in prices and its all down to personal choice in terms of whatever your preferences are, I decided if I'm fitting one I may as well fit the rear one as well....

Well thats me had the UX for 17 days now, I thought I would post my initial thoughts on the car good and bad. Its my first Japanese built car since my Toyota Corolla SR in the 1970’s which I loved. Since then it’s been all German apart from owning a Volvo XC60 D5 for four years, so VW, Audi, Mercedes and latterly BMW finishing with an X2 M Sport 2.0D which was great. So I wanted a change and to downsize a bit since recently retiring, I cover <8k miles a year now (saved 63 quid on my car insurance when I told them to reduce mileage from 12k and I’ve retired!). My shortlist was VW Troc, Volvo XC40, Audi Q3 and Lexus UX, the UX was the last car I looked at. None of the other manufacturers had any stock to show me for my specification requirements, I got a test drive in an XC40 plug in hybrid but thats it. The Lexus dealership had some cars to look at and a demo which they gave me for 24 hours to test. I have to say as a dealership I felt they valued my custom and went the extra mile to allow me to make a decision on whether I wanted to buy. The others just more or less shrugged their shoulders and said it wasn’t their fault, cars are in short supply. So, following the test I decided it was the Lexus for me, it had so much going for it when compared to the opposition. Ordered 1st September, factory build, arrived at dealership and was handed over to me January 10th, hand over was excellent with great explanation of the cars functions and tech and the fuel tank was filled. One of the reasons I went for the Lexus was that it is unrivaled with the others in terms of the tech, F/R parking sensors, electric seats, leather seats, blind spot monitoring, radar cruise, heated steering wheel, keyless entry and the hybrid system the list goes on and on. This spec is available for <40k so VED remains in the low pricing category too. The drive experience is good, I quite like the CVT, it suits the way I drive and its very smooth, the engine and hybrid system is excellent and the transition between battery and petrol power is seamless. The seats are extremely comfy and although the boot is a bit small its adequate for us and our springer spaniel. The steering rake adjustment is a little too low for me even a maximum adjustment. The infotainment system takes a bit of getting used to when compared to the beemer iDrive but that being said it has significantly more functionality, its bigger and incorporates ACP so all in all combined with it having a bigger screen its actually better. Lights are good, reversing camera etc all a bonus and in the spec, but why oh why are there still filament bulbs on the indicators when all the other lamps have more efficient and better looking LED’s!! So I think I made the right choice but time will tell, the warranty is there if needed but Toyota / Lexus are renounced for reliability so hoping no issues there. I fitted a Nextbase 622GX 2 channel dash cam, my first foray into using them but the standard of driving in my opinion has noticeably declined during the past few years and I now feel its a necessary evil. Be interested to hear other peoples first impressions too!

I suspect this is more due to lower ambient temperatures affecting engine efficiency and therefore overall fuel consumption. We also use more auxiliary equipment such as heated seats, heaters, lights etc which must consume slightly more energy from the battery / engine. I don’t think this is in any way a Lexus issue but will equally affect other marques as well.

I was thinking more along the lines of someone doing something stupid like just stepping out giving me no time to react. Any time a vehicle is involved in a collision with a cyclist or pedestrian the driver will be under intense scrutiny, if it’s not my fault the dash cam will prove it. If it is my fault then I’ll be in the wrong and would admit that anyway, I wonder how many rear end shunts will happen when someone slams the brakes on thinking a pedestrian is about to cross the road? Introducing this ambiguity into road safety is counterproductive in my opinion and will lead to more incidents happening.

I suspect my newly fitted dashcam might be handy at some point!!

Thanks guy’s, I have a Nextbase 622GW, the manual says the files will be automatically deleted but also suggests that to maintain stable performance the card should be regularly formatted. It’s my first dashcam so I’m still learning all of the features and settings, I’ve added the text below directly from the manual. “Format SD Card Format the inserted SD card. This will delete all content. If the format is unsuccessful, a message will appear on the display; “Format failed, please try another SD Card (U3, 128 GB Max).” Note: For stable performance, it is recommended that you format the SD card every 2-3 weeks. You should only do this AFTER you've downloaded any files from the card that you may want to keep.”

Dash Cam and Radio Interference
Hamish2015 replied to Hamish2015's topic in Lexus General Discussions
Well, fitted the Nextbase 622 GW front and rear dash cams today, took me around 2 hours to fit and set up the app The fitting is pretty much as described by another owner as per the link below except I didn’t remove the A Pillar cover. I also found that the offside rear window grommet containing the rear washer hose had much more room to get the cable through, some washing up liquid done the trick no problems. No broken panel studs and everything came apart and went together as planned. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ux-models-2019-present/960258-dash-cam-progress-thread-viofo-a129-duo.html?utm_source=LexusOwnersClubUK&utm_medium=ForumLinks -
Thanks for the replies Herbie / Len, I fitted it today and the pad and lens handily fit between the HRC elements. The view is unobstructed and the image very clear so I had no need to worry.
-
For those of you who have one fitted is the lens / image affected at all by the heated windscreen wiring? Just about to fit mine and wondering if the lens might try and focus on the screen rather than the road. My UX has a wire in the middle that runs vertically down the screen so I may need to offset a little probably to the O\S. I'm also hoping that the wiring won't be damaged by the sticky pad used to attach the camera if it needs to be removed.

When I had that discussion the person advised me that it was the responsibility of the policy holder to ensure the stated details are correct. So if it states the power as being 107ps then that’s all it must have plus or minus 5. Not everyone is diligent enough as to read such detail, I would prefer not to be in a position of having a disputed claim should I be involved in some kind of accident. The advisor simply kept saying DL could not insure the vehicle because I stated the correct power (even although they are wrong).
-
When I was arranging the changeover from my BMW X2 to my UX I called Direct Line to confirm the details and to transfer the insurance. It seemed to go very well but because I have private plates they had to input the car details manually. The details were fine apart from when the person asked me to confirm the power output as being 107ps. I said it’s more like 184 and this is clearly wrong, he then said that the details are set by the insurance underwriter and can’t be changed. He contacted someone and phoned me back and said unfortunately Direct Line can’t insure me because my car is more powerful than what they have on their database. Meanwhile I had been looking up Wikipedia and found that the 107ps is the power output of the electric motor only. He agreed with me that the database is wrong but that he could not insure my car because the power output details were incorrect when compared to what they have. I’m now with AXA who had all the correct details, but it’s an easy thing to complete an online insurance quote and miss the power output detail. If someone does this their insurance would be invalidated and claims would not be covered. So if any of you are with Direct Line and have a UX my advice would be to immediately call them and change your insurance.
