  1. This is a reply I got a couple of months ago...... Lexus Customer Relations ref: CASE1920879 Dear Mr Rider, Thank you for your email regarding your Lexus ES and concern with vehicle theft. We certainly understand your reasons for contacting us and appreciate your enquiry. I understand that a new type of attack against vehicles involves a sophisticated, expensive and custom built electronic device, developed to forcibly gain access to cars. For Lexus, we have seen a push and increase in attacks on the RX model in particular. For the Lexus RX, at present we have a protective 'plate' which has been released as a physical blockage into a commonly attacked area of the Lexus RX. Even with such a protective plate installed, sadly there is no solution against vehicle theft as a determined criminal will find and develop new and novel ways to enter and steal vehicles. This development is due to the focussed attack on the RX model by well organised and pre-prepared criminal activity within the M25 region. Regrettably we do not have any information related to this plate for other models including the ES. We are continuing to look into other developments and protective measures that may help our customers. For the moment we regrettably do not have any other advice we can offer outside of suggestion to look at third party devices which can increase vehicle security. For example, it is widely reported to us by owners and in the press that these "second stage" immobilisers can be effective in preventing a vehicle from being started. I do hope that this inforamtion is helpful and thank you for contacting Lexus UK. Kind regards Craig Allen Customer Relations Case Manager Toyota (GB) PLC - Lexus Division
  2. Lexus support centre recently told me that my MY22 ES is not being considered for anti theft upgrades.
  3. I was expecting the same after reading these posts but l have just updated Lexus link+ without any problems, very strange.
  4. So much for wheel clamps! 393422284_306045935506405_8757084281599885388_n.mp4
  5. You say it 'fell off', where was the car when it fell off, on your drive, on a public road? Did you see it fall off or just found it laying there?
  6. It drives me up the wall also. My dealer says there is no way to disable it by default. I have even asked a couple of the mechanics on the QT, but again no way. The only time l use it is to enable the lane steering in radar cruise control. My wife never turns it off and says it doesn't bother her in the slightest.
  7. With all the advancement in car technology over the last 120 years the humble windscreen wiper is virtually unchanged and l can't see any changes over the coming years either. Just an observation.
  8. Well done, not my thing l'm afraid, but l do love a good project and attention to detail.
  9. Neil, are two modules needed to do all this or just one?
  10. Any updates on this install?
  11. I've always used the plate surrounds, I think it gives a more finished off appearance IMO.
  12. It's a few years ago now, l decided to buy a Mercedes S Class. I found the perfect one in a Mercedes dealership in Manchester, beautiful looking, all the toys, all it needed was a test drive and my wallet was out. A couple of silent miles into the drive the salesman ask 'well what do you think', my reply was we need to go back, this is without doubt the most uncomfortable drive l've ever had. He sulked all the way back
  13. Have you driven it much since as it can take a 20/30 minute drive to reset?
  14. Not on my 22 model, no.
  15. Will the mirrors operate on locking/unlocking or ignition on/off? Maybe a new thread on this, l can see it being popular?
  16. That does look very nice and not a bad price.
  17. Following with interest.
  18. Just cleaning under the bonnet for the first time since it went into Bolton Lexus for the recall last week, not only was the air filter not clipped down it wasn't even in position, shoddy work Bolton, shoddy work!
  19. It's when you come to navigate and park in a multi story car park that it becomes problematic. I've stopped trying.
  20. Where l live a car that looks like that wouldn't last long, it would be stolen within minutes.
  21. Why do you keep going on about having babies Stan?
  22. Took mine in today and just noticed l've lost some features on the Lexus link app. Did any of you guys have the same problem?
  23. Been into Lexus Bolton today to have the recall done. There was a transporter there unloading a few green ES's, I've never seen as many new ES's waiting for collection as there were today.
  24. I bought a Milenco steering wheel lock a couple of days ago for my ES. The only place it will fit because of the gear paddles and the other wide spoke, is at the top of the wheel. Because of this and the weight of it, the lock is quite loose and can easily slip down and damage the plastic paddles. I got round this by covering the lock bar with some B&Q adhesive type 15mm pipe lagging, ok it’s not my best DIY job but it makes it nice and snug and protects the wheel covering from denting as it still does even with the latest design.
