I think that the window runners need a little lube as it sounds like the window is sticking near the top & this can produce the issue you have. A little Silicon spray into the runners each side & the top.

On a more positive note I left my car with Gleaming Motors of Bideford this morning to get some stone chips touched up and a machine polish to remove some swirls etc & have a coating of wax prior to the weather getting worse. 4/5 hours later and all done for £65 which I thought was a very reasonable price.

From what I know/have seen over the past decades (at least) and all IMO. The GP’s have improved vastly & have in the past few years had need to use them in Staffordshire / Somerset / Devon and all of them are vastly better than what I recall from a few decades before I left the UK to live overseas.. Many I know who live in London have simply sold any vehicles they had and now use TFL as it is much (much) quicker and cheaper as long as you stay within the zones and now no longer need to worry about the above. Coming in from the outside though is a different matter as it “may” be quicker but certainly not cheaper. Really should have been a Dentist or a Vet as that is clearly a licence to print money. Opticians have never been better though as a spectacle wearer for over 70 years you can buy good quality kit for little money and an eye test is around (i think) £15 but from what I know are very good now. Our masters (at any level) though are almost untouchable and simply lie / cheat with impunity if it suits the agenda, the MSM will meanwhile will simply look the other way. Trump tells the voters what they want to hear (and they believe him) so he beats the high priestess of lying with a landslide. IMO How many 08 vehicles would you trust to be reliable even when they had full manufacturer service inc with what is a low ish mileage for this year ? Yup only a Lexus will fit the bill to let you sleep at night.

Your welcome & what I would do is take your car there for a booked MOT and simply say that you took your car to your usual man who could not find any fault who then advised you to take it elsewhere for the re-test. Good reviews led you here instead of Halfords.
