I have a 2005 and I thought I had turned TC off before. Maybe I didn't then. But I definitely didn't do any pedal dance. I gave up turning it off for normal driving. Because it wouldn't stay off once you turned the car off and I just forget to turn it off again every time I drive. Maybe the reason why is that it was never off, because I didn't do the pedal dance. Later on I will try again and see how mine behaves and report back. But can I just say it's good to see you back in the IS250 game. 🙂 Another manual?

True, but some of it, specially based on some reports by owners, seem unethical at a minimum. Like taking away things which were originally there. Besides, I don't see it past the EU to do something about it. Remember when they made every phone manufacturer adopt the same charging port type? There was not actually anything deeply wrong with having propietary ports. Except it was screwing people a bit. They like to do things like that.

Fully agree. I find the German cars to be pure hype. Been there done that. These days most of them are ugly too. The most hilarious is their money grabbing tactics. Everything is an option. The only reason you don't have to pay extra for a steering wheel is because there is probably a law against that. 😄

For my last MOT I had to invest basically double that, although in Euros. My fuel tank was too rusty so I had to have another one put in. Tank and heatshield. It was a huge job as the whole rear axle has to come off. Huge bill. But in the end the reasoning I used to decide if it was worthy or not was the following: Can I buy another 4 doors luxury saloon, with all the luxury features I have and my car is loaded, RWD, manual tranmission, petrol, at least V6, as well designed, built, finished and reliable, which looks as good, for the money my car is worth? The asnwer was no. So I paid for the repair and couldn't be happier with my decision.

Thanks. Problem is I'm in continental Europe and things from the UK after Brexit take ages and end up more expensive. Also, since ebay doesn't have the correct cap in Europe, I need to order the cap from my Lexus dealer here. And it would be good to order the connecting clip together with the cap. I want to have it within the next 2 weeks as I'm going on holidays with the car in 2 weeks. But so the 8520753040 from the ebay listing is correct? I thought it was wrong because when I googled that part number the result was this part:

So as it turns out, I still haven't got around to buy this. The seler on ebay I was going to buy the retainer from sold his last. So I contacted Lexus about the cap and the price is not bad compared to Ebay. Specially that the only one for the left side I found is white. So I would have to paint it. From Lexus it costs 40 plus tax and I would have the correct color. But I need to know the part number for the retainer too so I can order them together. But I can't find that. The part number 8520753040 which was on the ebay listing for the retainer seems to be for the complete nozzle system. Anybody would know the part number for this:

I don't remember which side fell off in the car wash. I was thinking, maybe it was the same side and I just didn't stick it in properly. Or maybe the car wash damaged it when it took it off, and it's why it fell again, as you say, because they were damaged. But I really don't remember which side it was. But I thief a don't believe. These cars are as rare as hen's teeth here. Specially where it was parked, the chances of somebody who owns another IS walking by and taking it for their own car is smaller than winning the lotery I would say. 🙂 A vandal is more likely.

That's interesting. So they are really just stickers, with some doubled sided tape? The way it looked, I thought it was something more fancy, perheps stuck on with heat or something.
-
Thanks. That's very helpful. So the part numbers/covers are the same for the 2009 facelift and 2011 faclift right? I found them on Ebay, but the seller is saying it's for 2011. By the way, here are some more angles of mine. This is the right side. Sorry for the funny texture. It was the morning and the car was wet and I tried wipping it.

I remember seeing somebody's car in a meet, which had leather seats with emobossed headrests but it turned out it was some kind of sticker that looked like embossing. Looked pretty convincing, to the point I was surprised t was a "sticker".

I had never heard of such product. Sounds interesting. 🙂 My car is black and if I just wash it and go for a drive to dry it, I always get water spots. Sure drying it with a microfiber towe helps. But if it's possible to get spot free without ever touching the paint physically it's probably better and also easier. I'm not sure if I fully understand the point of this product. But I'm guessing you add it to the water so it won't cause water spots after dry and you can let it just air dry, even without driving around to dry it? The ony down side is you would of course have to wash at home, to add it to the water. I normally go to the carwash. Not the automated one. Just the one with the spraying water hose.

Ok, here is a picture: Now that I found out my bumper is a 2009 facelift bumper, despite my car being a 2005, I wonder if the reason it fell off is because the washer cover was for a 2005-2008 bumper and my is a 2009-2010 bumper. So it didn't fit properly. Does the above look like the 2005-2008 cap or a facelift cap? The 2011-2013 facelift uses the same as the 2009-2010 facelift? Thanks.

What's this DMF you are all talking about in the V6 petrol? And if mine is not that bad yet, should I hurry to change the clutch?

Yeah, mine was also like that when I bought it. I wonder if I should change the clutch right away or wait till it gets worse. I can drive around it, as you say.

Similar indeed. But it seems yours is a bit worse. Maybe mine is not on that stage yet, but will? Mine is not really an issue when driving in traffic or around car parks. And warm it does get better. I also tested without the tractio control and also got the impression it was better. But I wasn't sure, thought it could be just wishful thinking. I also like driving with the TC off, but since it turns itself back on when you turn the car off, I always forget to turn it off again every time I turn the car on. But I love how my car goes around corners regardless. It sticks to the road like glue. Like it's on rails. Good tip about the gearbox oil and the molyslip gearbox additive. How much does that kind of service normally cost?

Ok, as I seem to have fond out on the other thread (Front bumper scrape - Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club - Lexus Owners Club) it seems my car has a 2009 bumper. I guess this would change the part numbers for the washers covers? This is really interesting but I never realized till now. I have had the car for over a year now. Maybe when the 2009 facelift came out the owner facelifted his 4 years old car to make it look up to date. I know the car has not been crashed as I have had it on a ift and inspected after I bought it.
