I have just come across this and think that you should all register your interest. No sure if anything will come out of it but I guess there is nothing to lose. Please post on all relevant sites and let's try to get as many people to sign up. Toyota and Lexus owners may be owed compensation as some keyless vehicles found vulnerable to theft | Leigh Day

I wouldn't bother as I wouldn't want a damaged vehicle coming back. I have had a Ghost immobiliser fitted about 9 months ago. Hopefully they will not be able to start the car and therefore not be able to steal it (unless they literally lift it off the road). But none of these seem to make any difference to insurance quotes.

My insurance is due for renewal on 1st November and like others, LV informed me that they will not be renewing it. I have been with them for years with no claims but such are things. I managed to find insurance with Aegean for £1,350 which is about £100 more than last year. Still high but the best I could find at the time. It is now £2,000+ when I checked again! Is a 2023+ RX that much cheaper to insure than a pre 2022 one? I am seriously considering changing if rates keep going up. Thanks.

That is extremely disappointing. Why has it taken so long to think 'Let's add a tracker'. A ghost immobiliser is probably a better option. At lease they can't drive away the car and therefore you will not need to track it!

If it is going to be software based immobiliser, I would rather stick to my Ghost II which works perfectly. Having an immobiliser fitted over another immobiliser may be a little overkill and if the car doesn't start, which immobiliser is at fault?!

I spoke to Lexus a couple of weeks ago and I was told the software/hardware update should be rolling out in July/August. I have not heard anything further. Does anyone know any more on this?

The one show tonight (13/3) had a special on stealing Lexuses! Apparently they spoke to Lexus and Lexus confirmed that they will be releasing a software update for cars registered before 2021 that should stop the CAN bus issue. I have already contacted my Lexus dealer and will update if I have anything further. Has anyone heard anything?

I am not sure that I will live long enough for a software update from Lexus. I am therefore having a Ghost II installed tomorrow. It will not stop the scumbags from damaging the car but at least I know they will not be driving it away. I hope!

On a more serious subject, I have just had my car back from Lexus after a service, and was told that they fitted new enhanced plates to the car. I did originally have the plates fitted back in July 2023. Anyone have any idea what is enhanced on the new plates?

All great ideas. Almost worth serving a few months inside just for the enjoyment of actually doing it. Maybe not!

Yes it is. I think a high Voltage discharge unit would probably be better. That way you will have time to catch the thief and chop his hand (and other bits) off. That said you will likely be arrested and be the one in the wrong! Wokism gone mad!

Thanks Neil but as per my original post, I had these plates fitted back in July 2023. Unfortunately they will not stop scumbags damaging the car anyway before they realise they cannot get to the cables.

I have a few other ideas but I do not want to get arrested!
