GS F owners UK
Rob RCF replied to Fair and square's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
You're almost right, it's the same as a normal major service except that at 6 years it includes iridium spark plugs, which turn out to be quite expensive when you factor in that there are 8 of them, plus labour. -
Is Texaco premium not really "premium"?

You might have to explain this one because I don't get it? What suggests I put diesel in? -

Here you go: Was driving around "empty" for a day or two up to this point. Just filled until the first click, then stopped. So if the tank capacity is 66L I must have had about 3.9 left. -
Flat Battery - GSF
Rob RCF replied to Killysprint's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Excellent, out of interest did they test the battery and find it not up to spec? Or did you just ask for a new one regardless? -

You might want to think about picking up a jump starter and keeping it in the boot. I have a NOCO GB50. Tiny thing, but proven to have no problem cranking big engines. My battery also sounded a tiny bit weak when I started the car yesterday. Cold weather along with not driving it much in the last couple of weeks. I'll ask them to test it next time I'm at Lexus. -

You should definitely see the speed displayed somewhere. I think there's a cruise control "tab" and you get to it by pressing left or right on the steering wheel. But you shouldn't need to, I'm sure it switches to it automatically when you turn on cruise control. From the manual: Press the ON/OFF button (on the end of the lever) to activate cruise control. Push the lever down to "SET" your current speed. Push the lever up or down to increase or decrease your speed. I'd recommend reading the manual for more detail, it does have a few nuanced features, especially if you have dynamic radar cruise control. -
Valley plate issues on GSF’s
Rob RCF replied to Killysprint's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
This has led some people to even switch to red coolant retroactively. I think the best thing to do is stick to pink coolant, but just change it more often. Every 5 years/50k. -
Thinking to buy RCF 2015
Rob RCF replied to Zmms0918's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
I thought the same tbh, M4 comp with lowish miles should be around £40k. Be careful @Zmms0918, I'd be wondering what's wrong with it. -

Hello. Most used RCFs are somewhere around the £30-35k mark so that sounds pretty reasonable, but really as with any car it depends on condition, how well maintained it is, stuff like that. Don't just take the dealers word for it, ask to see the service history, ask to look underneath the car, give it a decent test drive, the more you do the more confident you'll be that it's a good buy. You want to find out about any little issues before you buy the car, not after. As for the M4 no one can answer that for you and I think you should drive both and then decide for yourself which one you like more. I can't comment too much as I haven't driven an M4, but the general consensus is they are a bit more sporty and feel quicker because of the torque from that turbocharged engine. That doesn't mean they are a better car overall, but it depends what you're after. Try to look at each car as a whole and figure out what fits you better. -

Ha, I believe you, RCF tyres are a lot wider than those marks! You must be the first person I've heard of with an RCF who "doesn't give a monkeys" about the performance and enjoys driving it in eco! Fair enough, I certainly don't drive mine hard all the time either. But when you get a nice open road with nothing in front of you it's so fun to just pin the throttle down for that rush of acceleration and noise. If you get the chance to keep going into some higher speeds it's really impressive how the car just keeps pulling and pulling. The most fun/engaging way of driving the car is in full manual mode, but I'm sure you know that already. You don't need to be too worried about losing the back end since the traction control will kick in if the car starts to slide, although you can completely disable it by holding the button down. "Expert Mode" is a nice balance as it allows the wheels to slip a bit, but will still kick in to save you if you start getting too sideways. -

Hello and nice car! This is one of my favourite colours although I ended up getting a white one. It's not a sports car 😛 but I know what you mean, your first performance car? I've had mine for just over a year and it's my second performance car, but my first RWD car with more than ~200 bhp (a lot more!). Cruise control does show your target speed to the left of the speedo, I think? If you have radar cruise control you only get 5mph increments for some reason. I use it sometimes, but it can be a bit frustrating around traffic. If you want to keep the car in tip-top condition there are a few things that are generally seen as a good idea to get done more frequently than Lexus suggest, like the transmission fluid, coolant, more frequent oil changes. I'd recommend running it exclusively on super unleaded petrol as well (98 RON or above) to help ensure you're getting the full power and torque. Enjoy it and don't be shy with the car, drive it hard, it can take it! -

Here are some of the main shots we got from the meet. Thanks everyone for being so willing to get the cars into position etc, this all went very smoothly. A few had left at this point so this isn't quite everyone. But a very decent turnout for a "small" meet. Thanks Ben @L55 RCF for organising this even you couldn't make it in the end. Feel free to post more photos below and leave your names if you like so people can put a face to a name. I'm on the far right in the second pic. Oh and let me know if anyone wants plates blurred out or anything, I can do that if necessary and then update the post. Rob

Has anyone taken out the blower motor/fan on an RC/RCF? Just want to get an idea of difficulty before I take it to Lexus. Mine started making an annoying noise last week. Sounded like something caught in the fan at first, now turned into a pretty nasty squeaky kind of noise that's present constantly unless I turn the climate control fully off. Not too thrilled that I'm already dealing with my second gremlin with the car, but maybe it will be an easy fix...

My ISF on EBay £14995
Rob RCF replied to Rich1988's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
£15k ISF 😮 Someone is getting a bargain! FYI your ebay ad has expired. -
Fair enough, I guess I meant super long life rather than lifetime.

FYI, The Car Care Nut just released a video about coolant leaks and briefly touches on the valley plate leak and how there's wild speculation all over the internet on what causes it (ahem). He just says ignore the "lifetime" claims and change pink coolant every 5 years or 50k miles, or red coolant every 3 years/30k miles. For those that don't know who he is he's a Toyota master diagnostic technician and imo he's easily one of the best of the "youtube mechanics". Here's the video (relevant part around 17:30 onwards) https://youtu.be/MltsfDaC0rg

South Coast meet in September

@hockeyedwards Sure! How about the car park behind the Sarsen Stones? Should be empty at that time and it's easy to get onto the M3 from there. @Shahpor You'd be welcome to join us, although I don't know where in Hampshire you're coming from. If it's not the most convenient we might be able to work something else out. -
Welcome to the forum, nice RCF. Yes the high RPM downshifts are one of the highlights! Already thinking about mods eh? I've kept mine standard so far. They are already nice cars, they don't need much if anything. Maybe an exhaust and some subtle appearance mods if that's your thing. OEM+ Enjoy it. Not many V8s around, they're special.

Green Wheel Dust Covers
Rob RCF replied to Jgtcracer's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Same! Track pumps are great, I have a Topeak with a gauge. I don't really like the powered ones, at least the one I used was ridiculously loud and I don't think it even saved much time compared to pumping. -

I don't actually know if they come as standard on the car, but it's these (technically I shouldn't link directly to external site, so here's a screenshot):
