Hi Steve Welcome to LOC, you look like you purchased a fine example, will it be a daily driver or a garage queen? We hope to see you in person next June at our annual SC430 rally weekend in Coventry. Great colour but I am biased 😉 Anthony

I have a water ingress in exactly the same place. I have improved on what it was but its not 100% yet. The back corner of the boot aperture seal has a drain hole in it, make sure it's clear or water pools there and comes over the seal. There is plastic cup at the back corners, these have a hole and a rubber drain hose, make sure that is clear. Give all the seals with a good coating of Shin Etsu grease which will rejuvenate them. Next cross your fingers and retest!! Good luck, Anthony

Hi Paul It doesn't come easy to me either but I think of the satisfaction when I beat it! I have a 12 year old (Lexiguy Junior) who is pretty good and last June at the SC430 meeting he went off on his own and paired a phone to a vehicle because the owners previous attempts had be unsuccessful. Perhaps I need to send him round to yours.....lol. Anthony

Hi Malc Hopefully the Garden of England where you live will skirt the majority of the bad weather and letting it travel north to effect us hardy types! 🥶 Ant

14.11.22 It looks like winter has started up here in Yorkshire with a thick fog tonight. I am glad I uprated my bulbs to led to have the best chance of seeing on these unlit roads.

If the vehicle has buttons on the steering wheel and starts it's pairing procedure on the sat nav system, then it would appear that it does have Bluetooth phone factory fitted. Perhaps it was a 2005 spec vehicle and registered in 2004. It's very interesting and if you weren't at the other end of the country I would have liked to compare the set up procedure between yours and my 2007 model. Good luck, Anthony
-
Hi Paul Yes from 2005 models onwards all have Bluetooth phone capability. The system is integrated through the sat nav system and it is straightforward to follow the set up procedure. Be aware that this is a quite old system and it showing its age now despite being state of the art at the time they were being fitted. Anthony

Hi Ken It sounds like you have probably got a short somewhere in the wiring and an intermittent fault like this that you can't replicate is the worst problem to fix. Personally I would not be happy to disconnect the horn because that would be illegal and unsafe. I would personally contemplate getting a trusted and competent auto electrician to rewire the horn to the fuse and the pad. I wish you luck Anthony

Hi Phil H Welcome to Lexus Owners Club and for help you have come to the right place! If you are buying from a Lexus dealer or an independent garage you would, of course have some comeback depending on the problem. If you don't feel confident to appraise the vehicle you are looking at then perhaps using the AA or an independent inspector would be a wise move. You could ask the seller if they would mind if the nearest Lexus dealership did a healthcheck before you make a decision. Many people believe that a full Lexus service history is a must to ensure its pedigree. I reckon it is certainly desirable but a strong regular history shows its been looked after. You could also consider are its tyres all the same reputable brand, also is there a sticker or entry in the service book which confirms its had cambelt change. Checks like, are all dash warning lights working and do they all go out when it is started up. Check the roof operation to affirm the mechanism and all the motors are working correctly. Look for signs of water ingress into the passenger cabin or boot. Does the sat nav and head unit all work properly. Corrosion can also be an issue depending how it has been used and looked after Despite all the above, they are a fantastic car and I have enjoyed every minute I have owned one! Kind regards, Anthony

Lexus 2002 SC 430 Water Ingress Drivers Footwell
Lexiguy replied to Graham Wilkinson's topic in Lexus SC430 Club
Hi Graham It may be like the water ingess problem I had into my boot. Lexus use either double sided tape or something equally sticky on the flange and then put the rubber seal on. When the seal was disturbed on my car, it was then that the problem started. The ns drain tube being partially blocked probably didn't help either! Good luck with it Anthony -
Spoken like a seasoned professional Richard! I believe that invariably the engine management light is not indicating a terminal problem although I for one would want to address the issue promptly. Once you know the reason for it being on you will be able to consider what remedial action is required and how soon it needs addressing. Good luck Anthony
-
Hi Richard As an avid watcher of High Peak Autos I believe he is a respected and honest trader. It is therefore highly unlikely that he would tamper with the light and that would appear to be supported by the video clips. Unfortunately problems like this are encountered when we buy vehicles which are old and have had multiple previous owners. I have had several issues where things were not done properly or corners were cut and have dealt with them in a pragmatic way. For me the joy and fun my SC gives me is worth all problems I have had and I hope you feel the same! Anthony

Welcome to the club and I am sure your new purchase will give you lots of fun! 👏

Hi Paul I think you have posed a difficult question looking at the lack of response. I would imagine that only someone who has tried will know the answer, although I have seen a picture of a SC430 steering wheel which had been replaced by a full leather, flat bottom version. There is always the alternative of wrapping it with carbon as below if you are wanting a more modern look. ...but you could decide to cut your teeth on an easier modification like below 🤣 Good luck and welcome! Anthony

Hi Paul Joshua the technician was very knowledgeable about SC's, ultra helpful and polite! I find the other staff just the same and look forward to my visits Ant

Look him up on YouTube, there are several videos on there!

Yes, I was amazed just how clean and dry it was!

Clever buggers!! 🤣

My SC went into Lexus Leeds today and had a service and mot. They did a brilliant job with no problems on service or mot except saying the ns headlight was acceptable but a little high. That may be due to the headlight being damaged or badly fitted. (I removed it to clean the dead fly out and fit upgraded bulbs... so it looks like fitting front parking sensors has moved up to the top of my list now so I can sort at the same time as the bumper is off) I was able to have a good look under while on a ramp and it looked very good condition underneath. No leaks or worn bushes. I was surprised to see another two in there both silver! At my request they fitted a pair of 20mm spacers on the rear wheels which has improved how the original factory wheels fit in the arches. Great mini valet too! I would recommend them to anyone, from reception, to technician, to manager!

Hi Philip Yes it looks a beautiful car, so much that they must be women! I know mine is contrary so that would fit (but don't tell the Mrs). Don't worry about asking questions we have all done that and some like me never stop! 😆 There is a UK handbook on for sale on ebay but it appears to be in poor condition and its £30!. Perhaps one of the company's who advertise they are breaking SC's have a handbook pack, may be worth messaging them. Regards, Anthony

Hi guys The tpms warning light came on, I had the tyres checked and all was OK. I tried pushing the reset button above the drivers side footwell to no avail. My car is in Lexus Leeds today and the technician informed me of a button above the passenger footwell which has two positions for two different sets of wheels (like winter or track tyres on another set of rims). Who would have known?...hurray!, that problem is sorted...well done Joshua (master technician)!!!!! Anthony
-
Hi Guys I fitted the flush fit ones to the rear as per the pic I posted earlier and despite the drilling of the bumper skin being nerve-wracking it was very straight forward! They work well too! ...just the front to do now!
-
I don't know where it is but it is certainly below us!!!

Philip's location is Hertfordshire so he must be down South! There again most people are when you live up North! 😁

Can you see the back of the box or perhaps it is on the leaflet inside, but the supplier agreed what it indicated, so I don't have a problem! Do you?
