Hi Glynn I have often thought an SC430 would look great with front and rear windows dropped without the roof being down. Like an American muscle car. I remember seeing an American electrical specialist post a YouTube clip that made this possible by an electrical modification That mod of being able to control the rear windows independent of the roof mechanism would probably be the answer to both. I wonder if Calvin (SC430 MODS) has ever investigated this and found a method of achieving it. Keep us informed. Anthony

Lexus service booking frustration
Lexiguy replied to Ian2015's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
My car has a service plan and I use Lexus Leeds who are part of the Vantage Group. I have nothing but praise for the dealership and all the staff but they use a central call centre to book vehicles in for work which is less than ideal. I have met most of the problems identified earlier in the thread and commiserate with all you out there that have to suffer it. I find it best to call in or email a service advisor with the request and ask for a call back to confirm. Good luck guys, Anthony -
Good luck to Gerry, I hope he has found a new owner out there for his high end leather suit bag. 🤞 In the end I decided that the SC430 fitted boot luggage was a better fit for my needs and that's what I have ordered. I liked the way they fit in snugly using all the available space. That's my Christmas present sorted Santa! 🎅 Well....and the new boot strut supports! After Christmas I will evaluate both items for this forum. I hope you guys have organised presents for you pride and joy. Let us know! Anthony

Just noticed this on ebay...dark green mica ones must be as rare as hens teeth because its the first I've seen! Let's hope it's new owner becomes a LOC member and we may see it next June at our annual meet in Coventry

Hi Perry You are observant....that had passed me by unnoticed! 👏 Anthony

If anyone is looking for accommodation then you could consider Haigh's Hotel and Restaurant in Balsall Common, it is family owned and run, I stayed there last year and it was very good and I felt confident that my car would be safe in the carpark overnight. Perry and I have both booked in for the Friday and Saturday nights. They currently have 6 double rooms and 4 twin rooms available but to avoid disappointment it would be best to book early. Anthony

Hi Perry Thanks for your suggestions and I have passed them on to Juan the organiser. Anthony 👍

Definitely not a case of one size fits all then, but if apple and android can be finally be made to agree on a universal phone charging plug socket there is a chance that commonsense will prevail and more engine lubricant uniformity will ensue!! 🤞

Blimey Bob you are taking some of us older guys on a memory lane trip of our early oil memories!

I have always been a big fan of Shell Helix Oil. That was probably, initially misguided as it was based upon the fact that when Shell Helix Oil was first introduced I worked in the motor industry and was sent a plethora of free, really good merchandising gifts! Now that was one way to curry lasting favour considering that was back in the 1990's! Anthony

It sounds a lovely piece of luggage, I personally only need one in the very rarest of occasions but I am wracking my brains to justify why I need it and it being an absolutely essential purchase 😂

Yes you know Yuan that famous printing error!!! 🤣

Great News....STOP PRESS I have had confirmation this morning from Juan that the annual meet will go ahead on Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th June 2023. The Saturday will comprise of a series of workshops on different topics which have not been decided yet. The Sunday will be a strictly non competitive display of SC430's and like last year we will be joined by the Soarer Club. Both days are for owners and enthusiasts to see an array of vehicles, meet friends old and new, exchange information but above all to have fun! It will be held at The Bear Inn, Spencer's Lane, Berkswell, Coventry, CV7 7BB. Many like Juan and I will be booking in at hotels locally and I would advise you to get rooms booked promptly to stop dissapointment. I will update this feed when more information is available, but please share with us any suggestions you may have. Also confirm if you know you will be attending. Anthony

That's what I call win win mate! 👍

Hi Phillip I would agree with the earlier comment about your damp seat belts possibly being caused by a water ingress. I think you interior is beige, if so the belts frequently get marked and stained. I wonder if they like that on your car and the supplying dealer cleaned them but did not allow them to dry properly before you took delivery? If so that's a rooky mistake! Keep them fully pulled out with pegs or clips to stop them recoiling, then use a hair dryer on them. Also see if you can find any water or damp in the seat belt mechanism and if so remove with a tissue. All the best, let us know how you get on. Anthony

Yes Glyn you are quite right that it was Juan Thornes who organised the last one and it was quite near the date when the date was announced. It would be good to have that date early and the people like me who have to plan ahead can do that. It does appear that the weekend of 10/11 June 2023 would follow the last one well. I think most people thought the venue venue near Coventry was good and I for one would be happy to return there. I suppose Juan will need to check with them that they can accomodate us. I will make him aware of our speculation about the event next year and if it would be possible for him to confirm the date. Anthony

Well done Richard, that is a vast improvement 👏 👍

Isn't it always the case Glyn!

Hi Glyn Mine is the same not heard with top up and windows closed unless I give it some gas. They got it just right for me!

Yes Bob you are right, I had mine replaced from the front cats back at Tony Banks in Leeds specialist exhaust fabricators and the workmanship is superb. It was about £900 and I chose which tailpipes, single or twin each side, also which chrome finishers I wanted from a selection they have. Apparently they have done a dozen or so SC430's so that gave me the confidence they would know what they were doing! They did mine in about 5 hours while I went into Leeds City centre to pass some time. It included a new middle cat and is guaranteed for as long as you have the vehicle. Also if it is a standard looking exhaust there would be no awkward questions in the event of making an insurance claim. If gentle on the throttle it bubbles like a V8 should but if you put your foot hard down it really sounds fabulous. At a £1 a smile I must have had over 900! 20220525_163230.mp4
