Lexus independent in Glasgow west of Scotland
Lexiguy replied to colin4989's topic in Lexus SC430 Club
Hi Colin Great looking car and great colour, although I may be prejudiced! My car is an 2007 with 91000 miles and was originally supplied by Lexus Edinburgh but I live in West Yorkshire. I tried to find an independent Lexus garage locally to me but to no avail. I decided to use Lexus Leeds and I have had superb service from them, they understand it is an older car and the bills haven't been too bad. They also give me parts discount for being a Lexus Owners Club member. You could try finding other SC430 owners in your area and see who they use. I hope you are considering the trip down to the annual SC430 meet in Coventry in June. It would be good to meet and last year was fantastic and this year should be even better. Keep in touch and let us know how you get on. Anthony -

Hi Colin Welcome to Lexus Owners Club, I am sure you will get benefit from part of our friendly group. Please don't be gutted, summer is coming and that's when SC430 ownership is at its most enjoyable. We would all like see some pictures and for you to tell us about your car. What are your abilities with tackling some of these problems yourself because you would save alot of money. There are YouTube clips, articles and clever helpful guys on here for guidance if you need it. Kind regards, Anthony -
I have fitted 25mm spacers to the rear wheels which I believe improves the look of the wheels in the arches significantly. I have not noticed any difference in the roadholding capabilities but nothing beats a set of good quality tyres! Regards, Ant 🐜

I believe prevention is better than cure! 😁 i therefore greased the pivot and contact points with old fashioned grease. The rubber seals were rejuvinated and made supple with Shin-Etsu grease, which I thoroughly recommend. 👍

There is a penguin in the back seat! Not surprising as it was the only thing that fitted due to its short legs! Perhaps the back seat was designed for penguins?

Yes, what is NSKZ? Thanks Malc, thought there was just me that didn't know! Ant 😕

Hi Ken Yes, I probably fit into your bracket too but I enjoy the opportunity to do anything that is within my capabilities. That why Haynes Manuel's have always been spot on for me! Anthony
-
You have tried cleaning them I suppose? When I bought mine I was shocked by just how dirty they were!
-
Hi guys I have always thought it was a shame that Haynes never produced a repair manual for the SC430 as that would have been sufficient for my needs. I suppose it is down to how many copies they believe they could sell and they probably presume that all purchasers of SC430'S are well heeled and would never get there hands dirty ....leaving that to a Lexus Maindealer! Hi Russ Yes, it does so I put the car battery on Ctek charge almost always. So beware you may need to charge regularly if you don't buy the HK3 kit Herbie spoke about. Anthony

Hi Perry I have hard wired a dash cam into my car and apart from needing to be a contortionist to access the fuse box by the ns A post, all went well. Mine was really easy with a piggy back fuse just to push into the fuse board. I put it on a constant live so it operates when the ignition is off. Anthony

Hi Michael Please let us know how you get on and if you find the cause. Anthony

Hi Nick My wheels are in poor condition and need refurbishing, a local company to me with a good reputation will refurbish, powder coat wheels and paint the trims to factory spec for £440 including removing and refitting tyres and valves. I thought that was a good deal. I also keep watching on ebay and other sites for another set as they would make a good set for winter tyres. Anthony

Hi Nick Great to hear you can make the meet this year. 😀 It is Saturday and Sunday, a two day event this year, please see hotels above if you are going to stay. Your car is a great colour, especially in the sunshine. Anthony

Hi Michael I agree with Neil, I find the responses from Lexus Parts Direct to be prompt and knowledgeable. Up here where I am in the Pennines is too far north for you but we have some great members in your neck of the woods, so hang fire and I'm sure Bob will have something to say! Anthony

Hi Michael It does look an eyeful of a bag and as you say screams quality! Good luck with contacting Gerry, it appears that his last visit to this forum was on 4th December 22. Regards, Anthony

Hi Neil Yes you are right, there are several easy upgrades that Lexus could have brought to the SC430 which may have helped its longevity. But if they had, you wouldn't have enjoyed all that fun you have had with yours! 😆 Anthony

Hi Doc I find it very strange that on occasions I have purchased items from long distances like the USA, Japan or even Australia, paid the postage and tax for less than we pay in the UK. I suppose it isca lesson that it pays to shop around for the best deal 🤑. Anthony

timing belt replacement near Sevenoaks Kent needed
Lexiguy replied to lance latter's topic in Lexus SC430 Club
Hi Lance I find it so hard to believe that a Lexus Dealership would decline to do a cambelt change on an SC430, certainly Lexus Leeds the dealer I use would have no hesitation in accepting the job unless there are aware of concerns with your individual vehicle. Malc is right that inspecting or replacing the pulleys and the replacement of the waterpump while doing this job is a 'no brainer'. In my opinion, nothing gives me the confidence like work carried out by a Lexus Dealer but that does come at a hefty cost! For me second best would be an independent Lexus or Toyota mechanical workshop or a personal recommendation. As you are aware the SC430 engine is not safe and the repercussions of a belt failure could be catastrophic and costly. I would certainly look for someone to do the job who you feel is competent and someone who would not shirk their responsibility if you incur problems. Good luck and let us know how you get on. I had a friend who used to run Mercedes Benz 200's and while looking for parts he bought a full vehicle sold as spares or repair. When he went to collect it was so good in so many ways that it became his new 'Pride and joy'! So this SC could be a gem waiting to be discovered and cherished! Ant

Lexus Leeds collected mine on Tuesday and with a recode of the TPMS it was finally sorted. The customary wash, vac and then returned with apologies and 'no charge'! That's why I use Lexus Leeds they have your back 100% when it's needed. Anthony

Hi Stew I like it and have emailed them to ask if it will fit a 2007 as it says only to 2005. Ant
