  1. Wait until you get the exhaust done, you will be listening to that instead 😅
  2. Hi Perry My front and rear parking sensors have a circular speaker about 3cm in diameter which has multiple holes is its face. I think black insulation tape is a winner as you could adjust the tape over the correct amount of holes until the sound level is perfect for you. Anthony
  3. I would like to think that it makes an improvement with handling but with certainty, cosmetically it is impressive! Excellent pics👍 It is also an upgrade that with the use of a torque wrench any newbie to car diy could carry out. Anthony
  4. Hi Nick Sorry to here you are experiencing technical difficulties on here but hopefully the boffins at LOC will sort it out. Thanks for the pictures, it was a pleasure to look and scrutinise them. Your car looks fabulous and I hope we will be seeing you at the meet next month 👍. Kind regards Anthony
  5. Hi Bart That appears another option when considering upgrading the sat nav. I suppose it will have many more pixels than the original and it will be easier to see in bright sunlight. Does the Tom Tom 6200 integrate with the Lexus telephone system and controls? Which model of 6200 did you buy, there appears to be a few? Regards, Anthony
  6. Sorry Nigel, that was a nervous laugh. It's something I suffer whenever anyone discusses Lexus Part prices, but I am sure many of us can tell you of tale about bizarre pricing that defies all logic! If you are a Lexus Club gold member you will get a discount from a Lexus parts department. There is also Lexus Parts Direct you could check out, below is the mast alone! Good luck, Anthony
  7. Hi John According to the oracle (Google) you are less than half an hour away as I live imbetween Marsden and Meltham. I hope you make some progress with getting your PAS pump sorted in time for the SC meet on 24th and 25th June. I have spent several hours over the weekend fitting front parking sensors and that job is nearly done now. Let me know how you go on and if you need help, just ask. Amthony
  8. Hi Nigel Personally I could not own such a perfect car which was hiding a relatively small defect. Part of the owning of a car like this is to tinker with it and I'm sure you would enjoy doing the job and the feeling of pride when it is completed. Remember though that we need you to tell us about it and post lots of pics! Anthony
  9. Hi John Welcome to the SC430 forum of Lexus Owners Club, I hope you enjoy the information and friendship the club offers. What colour is your car, trim and what year is it, picks if possible, we always enjoy seeing other SC's. Living just over the Pennines from Oldham and travelling in that direction regularly I may see you about depending what area you live. This pic is looking down on Shaw. There are a few SC's at breakers yards which are advertised on ebay. You could check the price on Lexus Spares Direct but as you say there must be someone in Manchester that refurbs them. Are you aware the annual weekend meet is in Coventry in June, great event and hope you can make it. Regards, Anthony
  10. Hi Jack Great to hear we will see you in Coventry next month. I will be there but as my wife will be driving it will be in her Suzuki Swace not my SC430. Anthony
  11. I didn't think you would rememer that (ancient history!) Ant😂
  12. Hi guys I could not let this thread go by without adding my comments as your thoughts mirror mine completely. The only difference is that, it was my wife who said, "Anthony, you are always talking about buying an open top car, why don't you, have you seen any you like?", I was able to pass her my phone for her to see a few SC430's I had been watching on ebay. After her approval my search went up a gear and I found one in Glasgow and the other near Luton, typical as I live in Yorkshire 😂. Little did she know that it would become the love of my life and get much money and attention being lavished on it. I use Lexus Leeds who are the best dealer that I have ever had the privilege to use. The last time it was in, they remembered my recent fall and injury and the car was returned no charge with... They service several SC430's but never fail to make me feel my car is special and on an earlier visit I took these pics... Last year I was so happy to take my nephews who live in the US up and around the Pennines. They loved it! Just like Tom my son (Lexiguy Junior) was when I first got it. I am so happy I made the right choice of car and found the one that fit me best. Anthony
  13. Hi Jack I use the Shin-Etsu grease too, it was recommended to me and it proved to be fantastic stuff.....expensive but fantastic! 🤣
  14. Mine were fitted by Lexus Leeds with no lubricant between the faces Anthony
  15. Hi Nico Your wheels look brilliant now but I shudder seeing the door protector as I have seen the doors of many vehicles scratched or rusting due to them...Good luck. A good professional seat clean is impressive, I knew mine were grubby when I bought it but the transformation was impressive! Also when treated regularly they stay very supple just as they should be! Anthony
  16. Hi Nigel Welcome to this SC430 forum and I hope you become a regular here posting news, information and pictures to us eager followers. Yes, you have bought a beautiful car and I agree that it you have made a excellent choice. It is more important to buy the right car rather than avoid dealing with a guy that some people don't like (and can't let go). Personally I have had no problems with Rich Walker and to me he has always been helpful and knowledgeable although I commiserate with any who feel he has treated them shabbily. I really hope these people can draw a line under their bad experience and move on. It is very rare that cars of this age do not have any issues, I know mine had...and still has! To me that's the fun of owning it, making it the best it can be. Many of us lavish our attention and money on them fitting accessories and replacing or refurbishing parts. Some of us even love them more than their wife and name them, mine is called Gina! I hope you are planning to attend the Lexus SC430 weekend near Coventry in June where you can meet many of us, see many cars and learn lots! Regards, Anthony
  17. Hi Nick It's good to see you on this forum and a big welcome to you. Congratulations on your acquisition it looks great on the pictures except for the one with the big guy stood in the way 🤣 I have contemplated this upgrade since I purchased my car but deciding whether to upgrade the current pop up screen or have a Tesla type screen to replace the sound system and the switch panel above, see below. I would buy a head unit replacement from SC430MODS.COM. He has a good reputation and some YouTube videos that are very useful if fitting any of his products. The full Tesla type units are from AliExpress and it is an expensive purchase from a unknown Internet company like them. On a positive note, I know two people who have taken the plunge and all went well and they have had good service from the units and we're highly delighted. All the best and keep us informed. I hope you are able to join us for the annual SC 430 meeting near Coventry in June. Regards, Anthony
  18. Well done Jonny, you have made the right decision. Please share with us some photographs of your car and especially on your continental roadtrip. I am sure we would all enjoy seeing them. I hope you will be around to join us at the SC430 weekend meet near Coventry on 24 / 25 June. Anthony
  19. Hi Colin I am sorry to hear that the car you bought has been deemed uneconomical to be put back into reliable roadworthy condition. With all you new found knowledge and experience I hope you find it has not soured your desire to own and run a SC430. Thomas did come back to me and said he always used Lexus Glasgow and does not believe there is an independent Lexus Workshop in the area. I would venture there will be a really good guy in your area but it's finding him! Good luck, Anthony
  20. Hi Jonny After all that....are you still feeling lucky? Anthony 😁
  21. I have to admit that one of the lower clips went ping, never to be seen again despite a good broddle with an extending magnet! The struts I bought went on with a healthy click too which gave me confidence too. Anthony
  22. I have messaged Thomas (Rev Lexus on YouTube) as his SC430 was always maintained in your area. Check out his YouTube clips about his car. Anthony
  23. Hi Guys I got a C-Tec battery charger at Christmas. They supply two connection leads, the usual one with crocodile clips and another to stay constantly fitted to the battery leads. I have just fitted the second one and it is brilliant, such an easy job to do and makes connecting up a doddle. I would also add that having used the charger, it is light, compact and works well to keep the battery fully charged. Anthony
  24. Hi guys We started this conversation about boot struts, but digressed. I got two new struts from China at Christmas and have just fitted them. It was an easy and quick job, just prising the clips off the old struts then the struts just pop off. The new ones with clips on just pop in place. The things I learnt was: 1. The Chinese one are much cheaper and appear to work as well. 2. Find a prop to hold the boot open and put it in place before starting. 3. Pay attention and don't fit them upside down Some of the above I may have done but I won't admit to it 🤣
  25. Hi Jonny As you are probably aware the SC430 engine is not a safe engine and if the cambelt breaks the repair costs would be colossal. I would imagine that very few garages would take the risk of selling an SC430 without doing the job or having proof and a receipt of it having been replaced by a trustworthy. I would worry that a visual inspection can not forsee belt deterioration that may start in the next few miles. I'm sure your auto engineer, irrespective of how good he is would want to guarantee it. It is also good practice to replace the water pump and consider tensioner replacement at the same time. This is not an area to take risks with, good luck. Anthony
