  1. Hi Glyn My wife Claire named my SC430 Gina and refers to her as my other woman. Gina is not an economy model but what mistress is! There again, the wife claimed to be an ecomomy model before I married her, but she soon drifted into the high maintenance bracket!! I can't believe how much I have spent on Gina but she is worth every penny. She has beautiful lines, makes me smile every time I see her and she is a right goer!!! (DON'T TELL THE WIFE) Anthony
  2. Hi John That will teach me not to be as trusting with these websites who promise to deliver and don't. Or perhaps its how they treat these rich sorts who live in the land of sunshine! 😂 Despite that thanks for the heads up and I will keep my eye on the transaction! Ant
  3. Hey guys Beautiful colour combo! If it is as nice close up as it is from a distance then it will be a great car for someone although I'm with you about the price but I reckon they will have a good margin to overallow on a px or knock off for no px! Ant
  4. Thanks John Yes, but being an old git I would need to print it out so I can read it! 🤣 Ant
  5. Hi Richard You are fortunate to have an experienced mechanic who works in a local trusted garage. He will know how hard to hit it and if that doesn't work he will probably give it some heat! Either way it will be job done! Anthony
  6. Hi Ken One bonus is that if the part was available from Lexus the cost may have been astronomical. For many customers it would then be embarrassing to suggest they fit a second hand one or get a specialist to repair the faulty one! Good luck, Ant 😁
  7. Hi Glyn I run my car on Michelin Pilot 18's and have been highly delighted with them. I do like the look of 19's cosmetically but would hate to loose the ride comfort of the 18's. Please show us some close up pics of your new wheels and tyres. Anthony
  8. Good look Ken, I hate it when I am put in that position between two parties. I know Calvin is a good guy and will assist you from his end but I would imagine he will tell you to fit the camera he supplied and all will be OK then. Hopefully that will happen and you will get exactly what you wanted in the first place! Regards, Anthony
  9. This thread started back in May by Alex (Ligier) assisting his father who was considering buying an SC430. I wonder if the purchase was made? Possibly not as I am presuming he would have been back on. Yes John, the metallic blue and red are both fantastic colours when clean on a sunny day but I have found silver is a great colour for hiding the fact it should be washday! Hi Paul mine has the standard wheels which were fitted on post facelift vehicles. The light interior colour like mine was very grubby when I bought the car but it is amazing what an improvement can be made by a professional valeter who specialises in leather restoration. That doesn't alter the fact its a constant job keeping up with it. The colour of vehicle and its interior are personal preference but that selection is often governed by what is available on the market at the time. I have on many occasions said to people, "don't look at the colour, look at the vehicle" but I am guilty of my vision being clouded by having an exact colour. In my case improving my car is the fun of ownership and although I know it will never be 100% perfect, it will be the best it can be and I will enjoy the journey! Have fun guys, Anthony
  10. Hi Mike I know your frustration and pain after recently hardwiring a dash cam in. The fuse I selected to replace was pretty inaccessible behind the inner a post panel in the passenger footwell. Good job I was working in the garage as the contortions exhibited in the process by my 6'3" well built frame would have put on an amusing show for neighbours! I bought the kit below and found it excellent and generic. I will say good luck to anyone attempting this project and don't start after a full English breakfast! Anthony
  11. Hi Guys I have a 2007 SC430 and when I bought the car 2 years ago the sat nav disc in the boot was the original one. It found it frustrating at times being woefully out of date when in certain areas like cities or new traffic lights and new roundabouts. I was told that if I went too new the system would struggle to understand the new technology the disc would contain. Bearing this in mind I went as new as I dared and fitted a 2017/2018 disc. The result was worth it, although it is not as good, instant or up to date like using Google Maps on my phone. It now gives me two options and I make my choice after consideration if my journey would benefit from Google maps. Good luck, Anthony
  12. Hi Martin It is always difficult to consider a question like yours without comprehensive information about the individual case. I have some experience in service management and associated legalities although this is my opinion and only by seeing a qualified solicitor will give you bonafide answer which would stand up to legal scrutiny. I am presuming that the above is an event which occurred to your car or that of a third party? You didn't say is this a Lexus dealer, a national company or an independent garage? Despite the above I believe that: Legally, I would imagine they are within their rights if the car is roadworthy, taxed and insured. It has been entrusted into their care, often with a signature giving them the right to test the vehicle as they see fit. It could be argued that incorporating a business errand in the vehicle and a road test would serve to give the vehicle a good test with no testing time to be attributed to the job. Morally, I would believe it is up to the morals of the garage or employee, if they believe it is appropriate to use a customers vehicle in this way. The incident you speak of could be considered immoral but would not be illegal. Regards, Anthony
  13. Yes Bill, the grey is a valet key as it does not unlock the glove box or the lower centre armrest storage box. Then it appears that either of the 2 black three button keys which are supplied with vehicle can assist in cloning extra keys. Yes Stew, I have seen the adverts for those " just give us your vehicle details and we will supply fully working keys! " Surely it can't be true or that wouldn't that be criminal? I'm with Bob on that one... don't do it!!!! 😂
  14. That's right Andrew, I think you hit the nail on the head by saying "local trusted specialist", unfortunately there are, in my experience, not enough about!
  15. Sorry John but I felt most aggrieved and irritated when I watched the Jay Emm YouTube clip some time ago feeling it was unfair and I therefore have no intention of revisiting it. Although I am sure he will have appreciated all the additional hits this feed will have generated. If you or anyone disagrees then feel free to tick the like button and then subscribe to more of the same. Kind regards to a Grand Master from a mere padawan!
  16. If the above is true what defines which black key is the master key or are there two master keys?
  17. Hi Daniel Although I appreciate what Barry has said, being in a similar situation to you I decided to stick with Lexus dealer servicing. My SC430 is now 15 years old and has 90000 miles on the clock and although it has a full service history the majority were carried out by independent garages. I have a great relationship with my chosen dealer (Lexus of Leeds) and my car is now back on track with them doing the services and incorporating other extra work on schedule. I now feel super confident about the reliability of my vehicle and believe I would be well supported by the countrywide dealer network if I ran into problems away from home. This confidence does come at a premium but in my opinion its well worth it. The choice is yours my friend and I wish you the greatest of luck whichever direction you choose to take. Anthony
  18. This feed has got me thinking. My car was supplied with one black 3 button key and one grey two button key. If when new they were supplied with two black ones and a grey one, so, which is the master? Thanks Ant
  19. So it would appear that we all agree that JayEmm looks at cars the way he wants to, mis quote and describe as he wants to! Getting peoples back up is one way of securing more hits.....don't give him the satisfaction!!!
  20. I have heard it is easy to mistake stupidity for bravery as the results are often the same, or at least similar. Although bravery is knowing what you're up against and doing it, and stupidity is going into something with your eyes closed. Did he have his eyes shut? I'm not quite sure! I would rather look at Dr Will on YouTube its much more accurate!
  21. I saw that when it was aired. His perspective maybe but that doesn't mean that it is not negative, fundamentaly flawed, warped and inaccurate! 😠
  22. Hi R Like Roy I am sorry to hear of your problem and understand how frustrated it must make you feel. I am sure there must be a way around it and calm perseverance will win in the end. You do not say where in Yorkshire you are, I am in Holmfirth and use Lexus Leeds and I am ultra satisfied with them. They still look after several SC430's with the same courtesy as any other customers who have new cars. The service manager is Jordan Robinson who is a great guy and I have found him to be knowledge about the SC430, honest and give good advice. I have found that when you use main dealers for service, you then become one of 'their' customers and they will bend over backwards to accomodate you and go the extra mile to resolve issues. Good luck my friend and I hope you get you the problem resolved. Please let us know how you get on. Anthony
  23. Hi Glyn Sounds like that was a good deal, I would have had that done, it would be good for Lexus service departments to revisit that offer. Perhaps it's like property, it's better to have good doors and windows which lock, an alarm system and CCTV for belt and braces. Although cars appear to need more with mechanical steering wheel locks and window etching etc. Anthony
  24. Hi Paul It certainly looks an eyeful of car and I'm sure it will turn heads everywhere you go 😁 Have you thought about what body wax and leather dressing you will use? Everytime I drive mine it makes me smile and I am impressed by how comfortable, responsive, smooth and quiet it is. That is why I accept 17 mpg when running about locally. The roads around here are fun but not conducive to much improvement unless travelling further afield. I am presuming the old wheels you have are like these? Mine have deteriorated badly despite being refurbished before buying the car (I think they only spray painted them). Having them done properly (powder coated) is certainly on the agenda! I do consider buying another set with good winter tyres, then I could have them ready for the white stuff Glad to hear about how much you enjoy your SC and long may it continue. Anthony
  25. Thanks for that, I need prompting about new things but now it's worth investigating.
