Hi Paul I believe they are a Lexus wheel but even if not, they look brilliant! 😎 Good choice to do that, I quite liked the others but they were not a patch on those. Ant 🐜

Hi John I now see what you were alluding to! It was when I realised that there are over twice as many etype Jaguars on UK roads compared with the SC430 that I thought a register would be a good idea. Lexus SC430 there are 1849 vehicles taxed and Jaguar ETypes there are 4565. I suppose you commented but it is very difficult when no feedback is available to base decisions on. Hi Neil The more the merrier, it would be brilliant to get several vehicles together! Perhaps even you could join us if you could combine it with one of you regular business trips up north! Hi All Please let me know what you think about starting a register of SC430's and what information of vehicle and owner would be appropriate? Please let me know if a trip up to Holmfirth for a bite to eat and a natter would interest people?
-
That idea was shelved as I don't want accusing of wanting to be....I think you said 'the centre of the world'
-
That would not be a problem Neil, we could open the visit to Meltham, near Holmfirth for any other SC's and their owners! It will probably be in about 3 weeks but date currently undecided. Ant 🐜

Ok make, Wattsapp me and we can sort a day. Ant 🐜

Hi Russ Lexiguy Junior bought me a set of trim removal tools last Christmas and I have used them alot. If you fancy a run up to Holmfirth we could have a listen and a go at finding and curing it. Including free use of removal tools! Ant 🐜

Hi Russ Sorry to hear that, it would drive me crazy too! Let's hope your problem is not the wood because it screws on from behind and you need to remove the dash! Can you get someone to have a ride out with you to locate exactly where it's from and if a push or pull of anything effects it? Good luck, Ant 🐜

Hi Graham Welcome to Lexus Owners Club and congratulations on your wise decision to buy what I believe is the best convertible ever made! Please show us pictures of your pride and joy and we hope to see it in the flesh at the SC meet next year! I use Lexus Leeds for my services and have nothing but praise for them. I have a service contract with them so I can speead the cost. I know many will disagree with me but I think it is worth the higher service cost because I believe they give me value for money. I did my headlight lenses after buying my car and would not recommend the Ispon kit but would agree with Herbs the the Meguiar's is a far superior product. I would say that masking the car up is really important, don't freak out when they go totally opaque during the process and ensure that you don't linger too long and overheat the plastic which can make them worse! I found upgrading to LED's made a great improvement to the performance and cosmetic aspect of the units. Hope you enjoy you new car Kind regards, Anthony

Technical hitch! When selecting reverse, the leds on the rear facing camera light up but the screen on the dash cam does not display that image as would be indicated is a feature of the product. So I think....it must be me, an error or problem in the wiring or a box to tick somewhere in the menu and it will spring into action! I check, double check then recheck the menu and all possible ways I may be able to turn it on, but to no avail...I even read the instructions and search on the Internet! I then get an auto electrician friend to check my wiring continuity, joints, junctions, plugs etc but no problems detected and no joy. It is presumed to be a dash cam fault and an exchange of that part will finally sort the problem. I enter into several back and forth messages with the supplier and they agree for me to return the dash cam and they will replace of refund on receipt of the return product. So watch this space for the next installment of the Full Monty! Is it me or is nothing easy these days, plug and play just doesn't plug and play sometimes!! Ant

Hi guys Thanks for all the contributions made to this thread, which has formed a more balanced approach to this job. Despite not receiving any clarification from Lexus yet, I think no change point is erroneous as contamination, ingress, or leaks are always possible, especially when a car has done 100k or is 15+ years old. How could the above problems be known about and corrected without changing the oil? Thanks, Anthony

Hi Paul Hope to see your pics soon, my wheels are in appalling condition due the supplier having them painted when I bought it and subsequently paint flaked from the undercoat in lumps! Can I ask if you had anything done with the trims and centres because mine are scratched around the lug nuts, what colour (original silver) and how much did they cost? Regards, Anthony

Hi guys I think a common and important theme here is keeping busy and the mind active. As a semi retired psychy nurse who spent many years assessing patients with dementia this is paramount. You guys make me feel a youngster which is great, especially as I have, over the last two months been to the funerals of two school friends who were both younger than me. I work one day a week as a psychy nurse and keep current, I am involved with several groups in our village and on the committee of most of them. Of course I have Lexiguy Junior who is 11, SC430 mad and has just started high school this year. 👇 ....then there is Gina, who I lavish my attention (and money) on daily. 👇 I never seem to stop sometimes and hope I am not doing too much and one day I will drop off my perch! It is such a pleasure to meet such a great group of guys, drawn together by our passion for SC430's. I sincerely hope we all can get together for the weekend at the annual SC430 meet next July in Coventry. For those who didn't make it this year: There is also some excellent footage of the meeting from Dr Will who is the proud owner of one of the bright red ones! Have a great weekend, Anthony

Hi Paul Hope you like the Michelin Pilots, I know I did! Have you thought about a set of really good snow tyres on them? Around my neck of the woods they would be invaluable when we get the white stuff! Anthony
-
Hi Ken Fantastic, well done 87 and still driving a beautiful SC430. That is so good to hear and encouraging for us all! Hi Glyn I think we could be slipping into a grumpy old men's club but I will throw my two-pennth in! The trouble is that guys like us with fantastic claim history throught our life with home, car, life, animals etc etc, it's not worth a jot! All they are interested in is raking in the premiums and in the event of a claim looking for an excuse not to payout or hoping the customer has a great big excess! I know it is possibly not true in all cases but I have heard about so many tales of woe, and besides I find a good rant cathartic! Anthony

I have Emailed Jordan at Lexus Leeds and it will be interesting to hear his take on it! I will left you know. Anthony

Hi Colin Thanks for that comprehensive appraisal of the gearbox oil change question and your explanation of different gearbox oil changes. I will email Jordan Robinson the service manager at Lexus Leeds and give him the information you kindly supplied and they can price up the cost of oil, filter, sump gasket and labour cost for the job. Kind regards, Anthony

Hi Piers You are right, opinion on the subject appears divided so I was hoping that some clever bods on here have 1st hand experience of the Lexus auto box and can give me the benefit of their expertise! Thanks, Anthony

Hi guys I have just been watching High Peak Autos on YouTube and Matthew Goodwin appears to firmly believe that changing the gearbox oil is essential maintenance that is rarely done. Matt says that invariably the old oil has deteriorated and is no longer lubricating and protecting as it should. He adds that it is a cheap job to have done. My questions are: Has anyone changed their gearbox oil or had it changed? Does it need doing and why isn't it on the Lexus service schedule? Is it the same as when I have changed gearbox oil previously there has been a drain plug at the bottom and a second one higher up which indicates when it is full by allowing any excess to run out. I presume no special tools are required, just 2 plug washers and adequate gearbox oil. My car is in at Lexus Leeds for service in 3 weeks and wonder if it would be good to get it carried out at the same time. Thanks, Anthony

I have fallen into the same trap, paid my $5 but only got a front sheet! Be warned: do not use this site until the problem is resolved! Ant

Hi John I have had similar experience with PayPal before and they were a pleasure to deal with, they listened, understood and then reacted promptly in a responsible way! 💰 Anthony

I reckon your wife is the queen of understating......I have never ever seen such wheel bling!! 😎

Hi Richard That sounds like a plan, if the mechanic taps it and it drops out your bill will be less! Good luck and let us know what happens. Ant
