  1. Ha! ...I'm back. Good old Yakima roof bars for NX's with no roof rails: Better looking than Thule too.... https://www.yakima.co.uk/vehicle-finder/combination/view/make/lexus/make_id/100335/model/113493/year/2020/variant/144838
  2. Scrap my last post. Woke up to an email from PF Jones this morning saying that they were obsolete and Thule were being vague about a replacement. Damn. Not happy. When we bought this car a few weeks ago the dealer offered to give me a discount on a roof rack. Looks like the discount was 100% !!!
  3. I'd consider a slightly older diesel Honda - the 1.6DTEC engine is excellent, as is the car, though I think the engine was discontinued in 2018. We considered the Mazda on the basis that there are plenty of CX5s on the road so it must be popular for a reason. We plumped for an older NX in the end, but the Mazda is certainly a handsome car and a bit bigger than the NX (with better fuel consumption because it would be difficult for it to be worse). Though a lot more expensive, the new CRV hybrid is a very good looking car close up.
  4. Hi - it doesn't, unfortunately. It's suboptimal, but Thule made roof bar adapters for the 300h glass roofed car but discontinued them. I found some, however, and now I've secured mine the part number is Thule 141768 and they have some here: https://www.pfjones.co.uk £49.99 then you need the appropriate Thule feet, but there's an excellent specialist shop in Tonbridge run by two Gen X guys who really know their stuff, so I'm going to use them to get those parts. Hope this is useful to someone... Chris
  5. You'll probably be branded "Far Right" and imprisoned, Malc. Tunbridge Wells by any chance?
  6. Hi All, Just trying to dream up ways to make my fuel consumption even worse and came up with the idea of a roof box. Unfortunately, our NX has a panoramic roof with no roof bar fittings. Has anyone managed to find some decent looking roof bars that clamp onto the roof / inside door tops? I used to have an A8 that used this system, but there were bosses to hold the bars in place. Obviously, the NX has none.... Any help appreciated. I've scoured the various manufacturer sites to see if there's an obvious solution and been to Halfords, but unfortunately the staff at my local are all on YOP schemes or the modern equivalent! Thanks Chris
  7. I had an UX F Sport the other day whilst CarPlay was being installed on my NX and it was a far more engaging drive than the NX, though smaller or course, and the "spec" was nowhere near our Takumi. And then there's the Yaris crossover ....
  8. You're right, I think the engine is the same but the hybrid pack is more efficient making it a bit pokier and improving the fuel consumption. Regardless of what you buy, the beauty of these cars is the reliability so even an old GS will still have plenty of miles in it.
  9. We bought the NX in the end and whilst I'm generally happy with it, it lacks the turn of speed that the newer engined IS300H's have - and, as I found out this weekend, the new RAV4. I'm in Norway on business and hired a RAV4 for a long weekend and I wonder whether I might have overlooked something here? Of course, it is nowhere near as luxurious, but has more headroom, legroom, passenger room and luggage space - apparently on the same chassis? I haven't checked the fuel consumption yet, but am pleasantly surprised with my hire car. As it comes in considerably cheaper I'd certainly consider it when it comes to a change.....
  10. Thanks Ken, I think I'm going to go for the NX. It's arguably a more versatile car and the (potential for continued) depreciation on the ES is a concern - though that's what attracted me to it in the first place....I could believe the comparative value for money. Amazing. Why don't we see them more often?
  11. You've hit the nail on the head. The ES is attractive because I can get an A6/5 Series-beater with a specification that doesn't exist on those vehicles precisely because its lost half its value in 3 years. The cheapest Takumi I can find is £23,000 and £27,000 from a Lexus dealer, but if it continues to depreciate like that I won't be impressed. My gut feeling is that the NX will hold its value a little better....I just wish I hadn't sat in the rear seats and pressed the recline button on the ES!
  12. We're just changing our car and can't decide between a 2020 ES Takumi or an NX Takumi....first world problems, but anyone have any insight here? My wife wants the NX due to riding position, I want the ES as I think it's far more comfortable, economic and better value for money. Any thoughts please?
  13. I'm new to Lexus having recently traded out of a 2017 A8 diesel for an RX 450h. We're (the family) are pleased with our choice, but a bit disappointed with the sound system. We got such a good deal on our car (trade-in & price on the new one) that we didn't fancy coughing an extra £4,000 to get a Premier with Levinson, so now I'm looking to spend some of my saving on upgrading the stereo system and CarPlay. Question is, has anyone been down this path and what delivers the best bang-for-buck returns? Thanks Chris
