  1. So what is the benefit of the protected no claims cover, especially as that pushes up the cost considerably? Are we chumps for buying the extra cover? Anyone else like to chime in on this?
  2. Given that the scammers knew about her recent correspondence with HMRC, she should secure her email account. Emails are frequently hacked, and left unmolested for such occasions. A big money transfer deal relating to real estate or some other big purchase. They scan the hacked emails and find a money situation where they can insinuate themselves with insider knowledge.
  3. They are not, and neither is the wireless pad if you have it in there.
  4. Even without the half and half cleaning it was obvious, and EW!
  5. That's an incredible sum! What, are they replacing the whole dashboard?!
  6. Have had two android phones connected to mine; a really old (8 year old) and a more recent android offering. IIRC the old one was on Android 7 (Sony Xperia Z5 premium) and the new one on 13 (Google Pixel 7a). Neither have given me connect/disconnect issues. I would recommend you first try having the car forget your phone, and delete that pairing on your phone too. Then start the pairing from scratch. If it persists, then try another phone if you have one to test with. If at that point it still persists, it's dealer time. Otherwise my bet is on the phone being the problem.
  7. Is this specific to those two groups (i.e. Marshall and Eagle) or does affect the wider lexus dealerships? Ours up here is a vantage group lexus dealership for example.
  8. Well that sucks
  9. Have you allowed OTA map and other updates on your system? It's off by default.
  10. Found this https://stereoupgrade.com/how-to-fix-apple-carplay-black-screen/
  11. I'm not seeing the video unfortunately. Anyone else see it? In any case, first I've heard of this one. Even checked the US forums. Lots of IS battery change dead screen threads, but no ES.
  12. Sounds like it may be iphone/carplay specific. Did yours come from factory with carplay, or was it one of those lexus add on kits later?
  13. Or some insurers have this get out of jail free card included in the loss/damage exclusions section: "Loss of or damage caused by the unauthorised, and/or malicious access to computer system(s) or electronic components and systems, resulting in any reprogramming of software, introduction of malware, codes or viruses with the intention or effect to cause such systems to stop, fail or function otherwise than is intended by the Vehicle Manufacturer." which is ridiculous. But, there's no way for them to prove it once the car is gone and remains unrecovered. That is unless you hand them CCTV coverage of the theft, or the car is recovered and the CANBUS attack is confirmed. From my reading looks like the won't pay out for repair or replacement if the car is stolen by the CANBUS method. Someone please correct me.
  14. I've just forwarded the news to our local dealer in Preston. If each one of you makes sure the other dealers hear about the Lexus Lincoln theft, maybe they'll get off their collective behinds and bug HQ more effectively than we could.
  15. Excellent idea. Emails can be hidden away and ignored, bur bad publicity via social media isn't something they can shrug off easily.
  16. Given the age of the car, why is this not under warranty, or at least the extended relax warranty?
  17. Just used their recall checker for my 2021, doesn't seem to be included
  18. I'm happy with the Michelin crossclimates for noise levels. 19k later and they're still good at about 5-5.5mm and mostly quiet unless the surface is bad. I do rotate them though every service. I made the mistake of listening to the service advisor and not rotating on my previous car, also FWD with the crossclimates, and they ended up causing a humming noise from uneven wear. Not uncommon for all seasons on a FWD car apparently. If they tell you that you can't roate without unmounting and restting the TPMS, call BS. The system detects each corner and adjusts automatically.
  19. Heard from my dealer. They got a response back that a solution is in the works. The RX problem is being tackled by the plate reinforcement and some a second non-lexus immobilizer fitted under warranty. ES owners will have to wait, no ETA yet.
  20. You're looking in the wrong place: https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product/lexus-0w16-engine-oil-1l/ discounted form £33.20 to £19.92 for a litre https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product/lexus-0w16-engine-oil-5l/ special offer £67.90 for 5L Ignore the images the text and part numbers are correct I've driven from here in Lancashire all the way to Germany, twice. It's now at ~19k. I haven't had to top up. As long as you observe/have observed the break in period (no full throttles, vary engine speed...etc.) you should be fine.

    MPG

19.1k on mine now. Yes, what you're getting is exactly what I've reported in the past on this form. The thing likes long runs. Best, full tank MPG for me was 60. Can dip into upper 40's when cold and when I'm mostly doing short runs.
  22. Sorry to hear that. Where was it taken from?
  23. Sadly, no it's not because you retired. Other RX owners are reporting the same. There has been a recent spike in RX thefts, especially in and around London, but not limited to there alone. CAN-Bus thefts, relay attacks and OBD key cloning have all been reported.
  24. Sorry E, been off a few days. I emailed my contact at our local Lexus dealer in Preston, he further raised it himself with head office. If you have a trusted contact at yours I'd do that, otherwise as others have done above straight to head office.
