  1. It's one antenna/receiver for the whole car, not one for each corner, and that's not just Toyota/Lexus. It's even sometimes combined with the key receiver in one module. My guess is you either got lucky or had good shops/mechanics who cared.
  2. Congrats. Let us know how you're getting on with the new car, driving impressions, noise, charging...etc. Also, do you have some interior pics?
  3. This is a post as much for myself as well as my fellow members on our TPMS systems. So as most of you know, our cars use TPMS sensors of the pressure sensitive (mounted in the tyre) masquerading as valve stems variety. Each sensor has a code that is printed on it and these codes are then programmed into techstream. You either have the simple system where you just have a TPMS light on your dash and are left having to check each tyre to find which one is low or you have a newer system where the tyre pressures are read out on dash. With the newer system you could also be left scratching your head as to which tyre is low if at some point the order of the tyres on the vehicle was mixed up (e.g. buying a new set of tyres and the wheel TPMS sesnor didn't go back to the same corner it was taken off). Frustrating isn't it?! Let's start with techstream. Under TPMS in techstrem you have usually 4 (or 5 for vehicles with a full size spare) TPMS IDs listed in the system. The problem here is that they are just listed as ID1 through 4, no mention on which corner. Now ideally it should be according to Toyota USA (not sure if Japan or UK may be different): ID1 = Front left ID2 = Front right ID3 = Rear right ID4 = Rear left So top view clockwise from front left to rear left. Sadly, a lot of mechanics/shops ignore this and things get screwed up. Also the car doesn't know which corner each TPMS sensor is on. It will just read them out onto the dash based on the above sequence. So if they've been swapped around, or they have been replaced, reprogrammed...etc. they could be out of sequence. Now hopefully they aren't out of sequence and they are each on the correct corner. If one of them goes bad or reached end of life, you'll need to reprogram all of them in a set time (5 minutes) in techstream, assuming you have techstream, not just the one that's being replaced. Even worse, you have two sets of tyres, summer and winter, so you have to program each time you swap tyre sets. If you go down the techstream route, make sure to get the list of all sensors as shown above before you go into the reprogram screen, and most importantly make sure you write down the code of the new sensor before it is mounted on the tyre (or you'll need a read tool which I mention below). Here's a quick how to: If you're OCD like me, and you rotate tyres and it bugs you that the pressures shown on the dash don't correspond to the correct corner, you'll also be doing a reprogram every tyre rotation. If you are availing yourself of the dealer service, which is what I do, one would hope they would do the same. Although speaking to one of the service managers, I think they might not bother. So you end up doing it yourself anyway. There is also an alternative method without having to resort to techstream. you can buy a TMPS reader/writer (e.g. https://www.autelstore.co.uk/wholesale/autel-maxitpms-pad-tpms-sensor-programming-accessory-device.html) and programmable TMPS sensors (e.g. https://www.autelstore.co.uk/wholesale/autel-mx-sensor-2-in-1.html) or a combo (https://www.autelsale.co.uk/wholesale/autel-maxitpms-pad-sensor-mx-sensor.html) as replacements or even a whole set for winter tyres. You can program the whole new set with the same codes you have on your summer set, or just the one bad sensor you're replacing with the code from the sensor that failed. In either case no techstream programming needed. See following video for a quick how to on a relatively cheap reader/writer and programmable TMPS sensors: I hope this helps those who are going through some TMPS problems, and myself when the time comes.
  4. On the second image it's not showing the error code, this means the problem is not in thus particular ECU/computer. Find in which ECU the code is stored. Some vehicles have two lkas menus, lkas and lkas2. Health check will scan all ECUs but will take a few minutes, be patient.
  5. Can you post a screenshot of where you are in techstream? Also, the error you're getting should show up, does it not link to the lkas screen? One last thing, which version of techstream are you using? Some functionality has been disabled in the newest versions. I think 12 is the last one with complete functionality.
  6. See this tutorial on how to use techstream. Not sure which menu he poked around in to get to lkas, possibly under cruise control as lkas doesn't fully activate unless you have acc on.
  7. It only beeps on mine if I am over the limit. Never had an ota update, behaved that way from new. Camera shows on map though, and on bottom conrer.
  8. Hopefully one of our members is located near you, has techstream and is willing to help. You could also purchase one.
  9. That error is Object recognition camera initialization incomplete. He turned on the system, since there's nothing to initialize, he didn't, forgot to tun it off, so now you get that error. You need to go back into that system and deactivate.
  10. I opted for all seasons here in the UK. Michelin CC+. Made the mistake of summers once on a new car, then a dedicated set of winters, also a mistake as they're overkill for most of the UK. Goodyear vector 4 seasons, and the new conti all seasons are well reviewed too.
  11. Summer tyres tend to do that on the lines at current low temps. Are they summers, how old? Older harder tyres are even worse at low temps.
  12. If you were looking at the camry, then ES300h should be on your list. At the time I got a better price on an ES than I could on a Camry. Not to mention that the ES is considerably better built.
  13. First off, no need to shout. Those are some mighty large fonts 🤣 Do you work for exxonmobil? who btw fund aei. at least partially fund that is. It was also a bit embarrassing to have exxonmobil ceo lee raymond on aei boad of trustees, so he isn't anymore. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2007/feb/02/frontpagenews.climatechange but in all seriousness, so we can give the thread back to @Mincey ; you are pulling my leg, right?
  14. We got to see "God on a Quad" at the end 🤣
  15. Apologies to @Mincey for the thread being hijacked. How did we get from the dashcam, soundtrack and going over hatches to here? Sorry. Please save us with another excellently scored dashcam clip.
  16. Are you sure you are reading the link above. It's a scientific paper where the first line is "Current anthropogenic climate change is the result of greenhouse gas accumulation in the atmosphere, which records the aggregation of billions of individual decisions. Here we consider a broad range of individual lifestyle choices and calculate their potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in developed countries, based on 148 scenarios from 39 sources." nowhere in the paper do the words essex or cobbled appear 🤣 and I don't know where you found that paragraph of drivel to quote and claim it's from the paper. Unless I misunderstood your comment and you are discrediting the whole field of climate science using that quoted paragraph because you didn't like the first line in the paper and think the whole CO2 global warming field is nonsense? Which didn't immediately come to mind in this day and age of extreme weather, flooding, unprecedented fires...etc. but then again those are natural phenomena, part of a large swing cycle, right? in the words of a fictional character "The truth can indeed be a finger down the throat of those unprepared to hear it." and in the words of a less fictional character
  17. One last thought. You didn't have a bump to either rear bumper corner, right? Mirror BSM lights will give you a clue at startup when system is on/initializing. You are correct it is a bumper off job and can be costly.
  18. You could try techstream. I've only seen this once before on a US spec ES, they got lucky, old battery, low voltage, threw up this warning. How old is your battery? Can you check voltage?
  19. What color is the light? I'm not seeing a mention of a warning light in the manual https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1141722/Lexus-Ls600h.html?page=420&term=BSM&selected=1#manual Visible sensors have nothing to do with BSM iirc. It's actually two radar units in the rear bumper corners, not accessible without some disassembly
  20. Thought the graph still linked to the original scientific journal paper. Here... https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088/1748-9326/aa7541 Figure 1A Has already been cited 538 times and counting
  21. I thought the 40k threshold didn't apply to electric? yup...."Any vehicle (excluding BEVs) with a list price of £40,000 or above will incur an additional premium rate for 5 years (starting from the second time the vehicle is taxed)."
  22. I've posted this elsewhere to just illustrate how damaging...well the figure speaks for itself
  23. One or two to maintain, ok. But 7! ,cough Boris, 7! We decided to even out the odds from such selfishness. It's the people who think otherwise, in an irresponsible fashion, who are pushing the planet to destruction for humans and the rest.
  24. Toyota seating position. At 6.3, especially if you have a normal leg to torso ratio, I don't, you will be just under the headliner. Shame. Don't think there's a way round that. You might like some of Honda's offerings, they have the low Honda seating position (with the exception of the 9th gen civic). Unfortunately no Accords here, civic would be a step down, noisier but goes around corners like it's glued to the ground, and gets 50ishMPG. CRV is pretty comfortable, a hybrid, but an SUV. If it's sedans/saloons or estates you're after I'm afraid it sends you right back to ze Germans. I was in the same predicament. Only other alternatives were Volvo S90/V90. Cramped in comparison to the ES. Skoda superb, big, but material quality and engines were blah. Jag XF, also cramped, questionable reliability, and zigzaggy lane keep, and I mean zigzaggy all the way to the line and back. Mazda 6, dinosaur thirsty 2.5L engine. Although I hear the new one, not out yet, may be something worth testing. LS actually has less front headroom than ES. Am I missing anything?
  25. I for one, accept none. Thankfully, I found a like minded partner and decided to not procreate. I try to change minds through teaching, but it's an uphill battle.
