Very interesting to read the comments and observations given I have just connected with a Samsung tag my disabled brother wears around his neck. My sister has been "tracking" him for some time now but it is only in the last few days I have connected via the "Smart Things" app. I've got to say I am well impressed with how it works and given its size, I'd reckon you could hide it where burglar Bill will never find or suspect it. For thirty or so quid it's got to be worth a punt.

As Phil above said, do your best to report as you find them and once the council is notified they then have a duty to log a pot hole. Importantly if anyone subsequently puts in a claim they cannot plead ignorance and say they knew nothing of the offending hole. It might also be the case that your new found "pothole" has already been reported which in turn will make your claim far easier to establish. I typically use "Fill that hole" who in turn report a hole to the responsible council whilst physically displaying its whereabouts on a map. The responsible council is then aware and must inspect/resolve. Surrey County Council also has a reporting facility but frankly I wouldn't trust them as far as I can throw them and invariably after I have reported by "Fill that hole", paint markings of one colour or another is applied. There is then a duty to get the hole or defect repaired in a given time frame. Some of these so called pot holes are more like cave entrances and I frequently see traffic cones inside them to help drivers to avoid. In regards road maintenance, then SCC are bad but West Sussex Council are now worse still. Chalwood could be in either councils area of responsibility a fact that will be established when you file a report by the likes of "Fill that hole". I sincerely hope you get some satisfication and that the responsible council don't play too many silly games as is their normal want!

Extended Plus Warranty
Brian R replied to Phil xxkr's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
I believe providing it has had a service, be it full or intermediate, then the Relax warranty still applies. I stand to be corrected on that, but I have had some warranty work done since my last service (intermediate rather than a full) and with no issues being raised by Lexus or my dealer. -
Extended Plus Warranty
Brian R replied to Phil xxkr's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
I couldn't agree more with you Phil, a full-blown service is in my view simply not necessary, and I have to say my Lexus dealer agreed with me. In theory, and according to age, it should have had a 60K service with just under 11k on the clock! Last time around we agreed an intermediate service, especially so because it had a full service at something like 5K miles followed by 2 intermediate services. In reality, it has had 6 oil changes over 11k miles, new filter each time, new air filters twice etc. I'll make a judgement call come July this year, but this car has had far more services than is necessary. -
Hello Bob Is that a turntable that your car is on?
-
Is that per month as in 12 months or per month as in 24 months? If the former i.e. £1188 then I presume that's for one minor and one major service. If the latter, I think I'd have passed on that "plan".
-
Are you happy that you have taken the "additional steps" but still have an insurance premium that goes up regardless? For the life of me, I cannot understand why Lexus can't solve this problem by a software fix or indeed a hardware solution.
-
You're right, it can and does drive you potty! The noise can appear to originate from the offside but can also manifest itself from the nearside, albeit the former tends to be more usual. BTW, well done for getting hold of the "TSB" which I believe was created by Lexus Australia!
-
The brace runs across the car from B pillar to B pillar. The connection to the B pillar(s) is by a "floating" attachment that tightens the two elements as the brace bolts are nipped up. However, sometimes (albeit it very rarely) no amount of tightening is sufficient and there is very slight movement in the attachment technique which in turn allows flex in the body resulting in a click or knock noise under certain loading circumstances.
-
I'm pretty sure I can help you with this. I can tell you straight away, this is almost certainly to do with the body brace that runs across the car and situated under the rear seats. Essentially, it might need tightening or just possibly, shall we say, a little more intervention. Take it back to the dealer and advise that Lexus HQ are aware of this problem and assuming you have the benefit of the "Relax" warranty, they will fix this foc. Do not be fobbed off by your dealer because this is known about and will be covered by Lexus. The following photographs hopefully gives some insight as to where this brace is situated and as mentioned it runs across the car. If you can sense the noise is coming from the rear passenger seat on the offside, then it is that side that needs investigating. Obviously if the nearside then that's where the problem is. Conceivably it could be both sides but it is usually offside. More than happy to provide further details if you pm me.

Potential LC Purchase - CANBUS
Brian R replied to zachkylealger's topic in Lexus LC500 / LC500h Club
Perhaps some context is needed. One stolen LC out of circa 520 or in percentage terms 0.19%, hardly a commonly stolen car. With the insatiable demand for SUV's or their ilk, then the LC is unlikely to be at the top of the shopping list and I'd further suspect the one stolen was something of an aberration. -

How many lc500 convertible cars are in the uk
Brian R replied to Brian newman's topic in Lexus LC500 / LC500h Club
Interesting comment and so it would seem there was something like 148 registered cars of which there are now between 100 to 110 either on the road or Sorned. It seems those that are currently on sale are in or around the £200k mark, not bad for a car that the motoring press never regarded as anything particularly special, albeit I wouldn't say no. -
Potential LC500 Owner after a little advice
Brian R replied to Dingle Dell's topic in Lexus LC500 / LC500h Club
Without wishing to make life difficult for you, have you ever seen the car in structural blue? One as such is for sale right now and if I was searching I would give that model serious consideration. In my view the blue is beyond stunning and if I could, I would. Indeed, the wallpaper on my phone is of a LC in just that colour! LINK TO CAR -
Interesting question, and I wonder if this might help: Models by type and number registered As you'll see, the LC500 sport plus is the most registered version. Having said that, your preference for comfort (same as mine) would be met by any model, given you can dial down the suspension settings for a comfort or sports setting. Frankly I cannot tell the difference in mine whereas those same settings also affect engine performance with a world of difference between the various user selections ranging from ECO, COMFORT, NORMAL, SPORT and SPORT+. As for HUD, it often goes hand in hand with the Mark Levison sound system. A little unusually I have HUD but no ML, and frankly I'm not too sure what I am missing, but others will surely chime in and advise. Personally I would say the differences from base to full fat are not that great but if you are looking for the ultimate the LC can offer, then it's the sport plus you need to consider BUT you will not miss what you never had in any model. Good luck in your search and as the photographs would suggest, the LC in red is simply stunning and for my money I would give that model serious consideration, albeit I would think a price tag nearer £50K would be more appropriate.

Sorry for butting in, and apologies in advance if I am about to show my ignorance. I've often wondered about whether the fuel pump relay or some other crucial relay could be replaced by a "Bluetooth" enabled device such that it deactivates if your mobile phone isn't in range. Would this be possible?
-
Yes, I can confirm they did, albeit I'm not aware they issued a recall to fix. It was happening continually on mine and notably in cold weather. I could see what the problem was, and in practice the latch pin was marginally too long, it simply couldn't retract far enough once activated. I eventually attempted to file a smidgen off the latch pin and that seemed to solve the problem however it soon returned. I then applied some special grease as used in cryogenic applications and suitable for temps down to -60 degrees c. Remarkably this solved the problem and all I can say is it can only be a matter of a few thou that stops the mechanism from latching/releasing.

Do you mean Japfest 2024?

Another here for Bilt Hamber. My son put me onto their products some years ago and unless he finds something better I'll not change my allegiance. Even my wife uses one of their products i.e. Surfex and swears it is the best at about everything cleaning related and I'm inclined to agree! From what I recall, much of their product is natural/organic and while that very often means poor performance, then not so with BH and in fact quite the opposite. As ever, "horses for courses" and Autoglym is my go to when BH has nothing to offer.

That approach does seem to be working for JLR and I gather their theft rate is now reducing and as you say there's been significant promotion of their "enhanced security". It would be great if Lexus could do the same and why shouldn't they given I'm sure they wouldn't want their brand to leap frog JLR in terms of ease of theft, albeit I think it already has!

Can you keep the Jag for fun days? Tax/insure it for say 6 months/year? I had an "occupier" in my garage for many years and only taxed/insured it when I felt the urge.

Thanks, Len. I've just looked at the "Ghost" system and as you say, the Phantom looks like a copy and even down to its pricing. Perhaps not the ultimate solution unless there are hidden strengths not well covered in the firm's web site.
