  1. I think we can safely agree the numbers are most definitely low, as one would expect. I would also concur with your "optimistic" dealer observation. Frankly, I wish there were more out and about, but I guess at the end of the day it's something of a niche product.
  2. Just did another quick check and if I am interpreting the data correctly, it would seem approx 255 have been registered. To be honest I am not too sure where one would acquire definitive figures. It also seems there is but a handful that are SORN'd which might suggest not many are being tucked away.
  3. Had to look it up and yes, never seen one of those in the wild either! Good looking car as well. 💓
  4. I believe the only one I have seen on the road was within spitting distance of my local dealer, Lexus Gatwick. Having said that, I think they may have recently sold two in recent days, a red and a white model, or just possibly shunted them to other branches. If they are local, then I guess I will see them sometime soon, but hitherto I've yet to see one out in the wild. Assuming I have interpreted the figures correctly, then it does seem there are less than 200 nationwide. Obviously an extremely rare car!
  5. You might be surprised by the scrap price for cars. Try this link and see what yours might worth: Redcorn
  6. Absolutely the right stuff to use and apologies if I am repeating what might already have been said, but you should not use "normal" grease on any rubber component. Essentially, normal grease will degrade rubber and is totally incompatible. Red rubber grease is designed to be compatible and is readily sold by the usual culprits or easily sourced on say Amazon. As for using copper grease elsewhere on brake components or disc/wheel mating, then simply do not do this! You should use a grease like Cera Tec which is specifically for metal on metal contact parts and is particularly suited to the high temperatures around brake disc areas. Conventional greases will rapidly go walkies as heat is produced by braking.
  7. Would be great if it could be retrospectively fitted, albeit I think I must have some Japanese genes given I'm already reasonably adept with the pad.
  8. Many thanks Wendle, I'll take a look see tomorrow morning. I also notice on the American forum, some folk are piggy backing their reverse mirror wiring. My concern here is that my camera needs a 5 volt (micro usb) power supply and whilst they can be very small I don't think small enough to contemplate connecting to the mirror.
  9. Gents, I would be most interested in knowing more and in particular the power pick up points that your cameras were/are wired to. I always put a camera in my cars and my current is a ROAV unit. It simply needs a switched supply on/off with the ignition. In my previous car it was connected by a USB cable to a power socket but I fear that is not a practical solution in the LC.
  10. I've only had my LC for some 11 days and have already experienced this problem. Took at look at matters and solved the problem by filing a slight chamfer on the female part of the lock/unlock mechanism of the fuel cover. I used a fairly small flat Swiss file and hey presto problem solved.
  11. Many thanks for that. Must admit I hadn't noticed that in the "Setup" menu but will take a look see later today.
  12. Just bought two Faraday pouches by Defender and very happy to report they work! Additionally, I also use the hold lock, press unlock twice in built facility to switch off the key broadcast. Perhaps a belt and braces approach and over the top but the crims always seem to be one step ahead of the game. I also tried the biscuit tin method, and it would appear providing the key is not in direct contact, that too works. In other words, if the tin is lined with say cardboard, it forms a very effective "pouch". The Defender pouches are suitable for one key/fob only whereas of course the tin method can hold considerably more. Out of interest, does anyone know if the keyless entry system can be switched off in its entirety? I was able to do this with my Jag and grateful for the facility, would be nice if I could do the same with the Lexus.
  13. Hi Philip She is good, isn't she! All makes so much more sense when've watched just a few of her vids.
  14. I don't know whether this might help or indeed whether anyone else has suggested it but I found an extremely useful resource in "Northside Lexus". Link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCz01SYFxf4xhV8ok7FYaGyw Melissa provide dozens of very useful video tutorials and has certainly explained what on occasions was unfathomable to me. You'll also be mighty impressed by her obvious enthusiasm for the brand.
  15. You should see the rest of it, lusher still.😀 Must admit it does take some upkeep but always looks a picture at this time of year.
  16. Ah, but do you now feel better for your confession Len which, as they say, is good for the soul 😇 I think in practice I am doing my best to safeguard my laser cut alloys especially having seen my wife demolish 2 of hers in one fell swoop. Just for good measure on opposite sides of the car too!
  17. Took possession of this 17 plate genuine 4K mile 500H on Wednesday this week and was able to thoroughly spruce it up yesterday. Long tiring day but I hope the results speak for themselves. Sonic Titanium and rose leather if I've got my colours right. Very impressed by the whole package and will be stretching its legs later today. Still fathoming the infotainment system but nowhere near as bad as some would have you believe. Already a big fan of the HUD and radar/adaptive cruise control. I haven't got used to the reverse camera, despite having one on a previous Jaguar a couple of years ago. I think I am fixated on the tilting mirrors in reverse as my primary point of reference, so need to build confidence in the camera. Hope to put some serious miles on the car in the coming months, but before then it has to receive its fourth service (a major) come July. Bizarre given the engine oil is so clean it is barely visible on the dip stick! In practice, the car has only done something like 600 miles since its last visit to the dealership! Hardly makes any sense, but it will be comforting to introduce it to my local Crawley Lexus and hopefully experience the fabled service I should receive. All in all extremely taken with the car but now need to move on my previous cars to provide a bit more drive space!
  18. Curiously I prefer Sonic Red but just in recent days I bought a Sonic Titanium on the basis of an offer too good to refuse. If I'm honest, I think darker colours better suit the LC, but I also appreciate silvers once washed look cleaner for longer.
  19. Thanks Philip and the Jag is an XF. Will be sending it off to someone or another some when soon. Need to recoup a little cash whilst also moving the garage queen Z4 to another new home. Shame the LC won't go into the garage even though the previous house owner significantly extended it sideways. Shame he didn't increase the door opening size the same time! Still, my wife won't be shy about housing her Countryman Cooper in there! 😀
  20. Curiously I called my would be dealer just yesterday dealer to clarify servicing matters and they too were very excited with the news. Must admit I wasn't so believing but it does seem true! Hopefully this will endorse my decision to move from Jaguar to Lexus. What a great day to take ownership of a "new to me" Lexus 500h!
  21. Good question given that I pick up mine tomorrow! Have to say one of my test drives was within a residential area with prolific and some very obvious speed humps. As per Malcolm above, I too didn't experience any problems, much to my relief. From what research I have made, it does seem as if the LC has particularly good ground clearance.
  22. For my two pennies worth I've used an app called "Radarbot". When the phone is bluetoothed and the app is configured to remain "on" it will interrupt your sound system and provide very clear warnings. For me this all happens seamlessly and it's not a case of remembering to turn the app on albeit I do sometimes turn it off to save battery. The only concern I do have is that I'm not so sure it is up to date given my current experiences on the M23 where it still advises average speed cameras that were removed months ago.
  23. Are we sure it is to do with tax? I ask because it could just as well be because it is parked with all four wheels on a pedestrian pathway, in itself illegal. I'd also say it is parked adjacent to zig zag lines normally before and after a pedestrian crossing therefore severely restricting an oncoming drivers view of the crossing and those about to access it.
