I think in an age where very little is physical, something tangible does have its merits. I fear however my view is a generational thing, but when/if technology lets you down it's good to have a plan B.

Just read the list of crucial items and your boot will provide more than enough room for that little lot. Curiously I too bought a "store all" similar to Graeme's and if I recall correctly probably for my XE. As for the compact umbrella, hopefully it will fit neatly into the passenger door bin, as indeed mine does. Earlier this week I used an atlas for the first time in years and in the event it proved very useful as we visited various spots in the New Forest so still a handy item to have.

Simple solution, adopt a minimalist life style. Got to admit, I am intrigued as to what you are or at least attempting to stash in the boot.........

How does the 'inspiration' series work?

Whoops wrong link, try this one: Inspiration Series LC500 -
My wait it over, 2 weeks felt like 2 years LC500 has landed
Brian R replied to Winston's topic in New Members Area
Congratulations Winston and what a beauty. IMHO, the best colour of the bunch albeit the blue isn't too far behind. I think I too would take it very carefully on Devons roads and certainly till you can judge the car width more precisely. Also bear in mind the extra width the door mirrors add to the car. Ask me how I know! Sounds like an enjoyable spin up the M5 is calling........ -
How does the 'inspiration' series work?

The Inspiration Series car is currently showing on the Lexus UK site and can be configured accordingly. I haven't gone through the ins and outs but try this link for more info: Inspiration Series -
I've always had a soft spot for Lotus, albeit I've never owned one. I too saw Mat Watson's review of the Emira and clearly Lotus have not only produced a good looking and very capable car but also something that provides creature comforts in its cabin. At the suggested price point, I think they could be onto a winner. As I often say, so many "British" car manufacturers could do even better if they would but employ the QA team that works for Lexus or come to that just about any Japanese car company.

Very good point Fred but I think Alex intends to use a "proving" circuit and one that is used more for performance assessment rather than racing others on a track. Every possibility he will be one of a very few cars when he does his run(s). Like Winston, I too think the second option sounds the best, and effectively it works out at a lower cost per circuit assuming there was no significant cost in transferring the insurance. Still not cheap mind you!

Beat me to it Chris! Just been out to mine, a 500h and therefore with a smaller boot and no problem at all to fit something of that size. Do also remember you have 2 (presumably) vacant seats in the rear which would also readily take that size box and then some. Hopefully you can now buy with confidence but I never realised the F type was so lacking in that department.

I can highly recommend PPF. My bumper, bonnet, front wings, A pillars, mirrors and headlamps are covered. Needless to say there is not a visible mark on any of those surfaces and the film itself is self-healing. One other area that would also be worth covering is the rear of the side skirts, which, like so many cars, will be prone to stone/chip damage. Icing on the cake would of course be a ceramic coating, but PPF probably offers the best physical protection in the long run. Btw, the chances are before the PPF is applied the paint will be thoroughly cleaned/machine polished.

Ah, I did wonder whether it might not be the case with all keys. Nonetheless, 2015 onwards still captures a goodly number of cars.
-
Forgive me if I've missed something along the way (and I presume this is the case with all keyless entry) but you can render the keyless function inoperative by holding the lock button and then pressing the unlock button twice. You should then see 4 flashes from the keys led and hey presto you can walk up to the car with key in hand/pocket and it will not be recognised. I do this every night and the process is as simple as a,b,c.

LC500 V8s back to mid £40k by end of year?
Brian R replied to Flytvr's topic in Lexus LC500 / LC500h Club
Couldn't agree more AJ and the amount of stealth taxes being introduced into our system is legion. As you say it won't be long before the majority of new cars hit the 40K mark and if new prices are on the up then so as sure as night follows day so will used. Add to that the ongoing chip shortage and other raw material costs stoking price increases and regretfully for buyers there's only one way prices are going to head. Frankly, until demand is stifled, this scenario could play out longer than most would wish. You know what I paid for my LC and even now I'm still sitting on a trade in profit! I never thought I would see the day when cars were/are an appreciating asset but here we are. -
LC500 V8s back to mid £40k by end of year?
Brian R replied to Flytvr's topic in Lexus LC500 / LC500h Club
I'm not quite sure why some think the price is dropping. Currently, on Autotrader, the lowest price 500 is £56.5k and £57.5K for the 500h. When I cast my mind back to two key points in my ownership i.e. when I bought the car last June and again to this January, these values are both well above those then asking prices. The evidence would tend to suggest prices are still on the up and I would further add inflation affects prices of all goods and cars either new or used will be no exception to this fact. Judge for yourself and have a trawl around new car prices let alone used prices. I recall how many people laughed at the additional VED for cars over £40K only to now find themselves caught in yet another tax trap. Look at a now £30K car and factor 10%/pa inflation and lo and behold in 3 years time the price will be £40K. As with the personal income tax allowance, lifetime pension allowance and inheritance allowance to name a few, the £40K threshold is set to remain fixed till 2026, and I suspect beyond........ -
Having just insured my LC 3 weeks before it was due to renew it seems to me one still has to play the insurance game. My premium in the event has reduced on last year's figure, so happy days. I renewed or to be more precise perpetuated this via Confused because I ended up insuring with my current insurer! Shortly thereafter, I received the official renewal notice independent of Confused and from the self same insurer, only to see their asking price was significantly up on last year's premium and up on what I had just insured via Confused! Bizarrely my same "then and now" insurer sent me a NCB notice as if I were taking my business elsewhere which of course I am not. I also checked with the insurer that nothing had gone amiss, only for them to confirm all is in order and that they were unable to offer an explanation as to why this should have happened. Critically, it genuinely does seem one has to insure or re-insure 3 weeks before the existing policy expires. This is something numerous sites suggest and I will be putting this to the test again next month when I have to insure another car I own. As a footnote, I understand car insurance is less expensive this year given average mileages are down (and I suspect will remain so) in the current fuel price era.

Really pleased for you Alan, and I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Interesting to see that you had a fair number of Jags. Got to say I had 2 prior to my LC and loved both of them but I always thought I was driving on borrowed time before they let me down. Going forwards, I'm sure you'll experience the same positive vibes the Lexus generates.
-
I guess you need to somehow check if there is any run out in the discs, albeit not an easy thing to do if you don't have the right equipment. Hopefully with some ingenuity you can jury-rig something that will provide a clue. Must say I would be surprised if the dis(s) were warped and all the more reason to rule them out in the first instance.

Came across this on another Lexus forum and wondered if it might be of interest. Seems there's far more carbon fibre in these cars than one might have first imagined.

Len, I'm with you on that and probably the simplest solution unless, of course, it is not physically possible.

If it's any help, I had some BMW M wheels painted in a chrome finish. The paint did a very good job of giving the illusion they were chromed, additionally the wheel barrels were painted black. The whole effect and the finish was superb. The problem as I see it with the 21 inch LC wheels is that they have a polished and a painted finish on the same wheel face. I dare say some wheel refurbers would be able/prepared to paint say a chrome finish and black where required. All a bit of a faff and I dare say expensive, and of course all four wheels would need to be done. Out of interest, the car you described sounds very much like one I looked at over a year ago. Was it red and with a sport spec?

I too cannot see why being a convertible should warrant a more frequent oil change but perhaps this link might throw some light on the matter. Oil service interval

Aside from my LC, we have two of these in the "family". Bought one purely as a runabout and the wife loved it so much she sold her very highly specced Mini Cooper S and bought an all but new Jazz hybrid. Great cars and capable of carrying vast loads and even full size bikes once the rear "magic" seats are raised. So don't worry Steve you're in good company and clearly a man of taste 😂
-
Could indeed be scary stuff 😂 but let's not rule it out as a possibility.
-
Possibly because they don't want their techs sticking their fingers across the high voltage points associated with hybrids. Just a thought but I may well be way off beam.

That'll be the mid flight fuelling facility! I should have thought it must be something to do with the tyres and as Malcolm says, a stuck stone/gravel or god forbid, a nail.
