Majid, I helped someone recently with poor quality BT streaming from Spotfiy on an IS300h. So not sue if this may help, but the solution in their case was to change the BT profile version from 1.4 to 1.3 on their phone. We did this to fix a cover art non-display issue, but it also had the added benefit of fixing audio quality issues too. The music was tinny before the change. I know how to do his on android, but it sounds like you are an apple user - not sure how to change it on that, but might be worth a go if the issue is with streamed music. Paul

Track sequence wrong when playing MP3's from USB
PDM replied to Fusspot's topic in Lexus ES 300h Club
Thanks, Adrian. Try not to judge me on my my taste in music.... I listen to a lot of film soundtracks/opera/musicals and these dont really work if played out of order. Cheers and have a good weekend. Paul -
Track sequence wrong when playing MP3's from USB
PDM replied to Fusspot's topic in Lexus ES 300h Club
Adrian, do the voice commands work for you on your UX, for things like, e.g. "Play Album <album name>"? I ask because I have issues with this on my new RX. Paul -

RX450HL Voice commands
PDM replied to James Roc's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
Dear Phil, I am so glad to read your post (although not for that fact that you too are suffering with this being broken). Please can you do us both a favour, and write to: Lexus Customer Relations <cr@lexus.co.uk> The more of us that make this matter known, the greater chances of a fix being forthcoming. My understanding at the moment is that the fault is with the MM19 systems (which in the RX is the touch screen one, so only on relatively new builds). It's a great car in many ways, but things like this are taking the edge off it. Paul -
RX450HL Voice commands
PDM replied to James Roc's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
Hi Everyone, I thought I would update this thread, with a rather different tone to the one I posted above, unfortunately. Voice command have always worked perfectly for me in our 2013 CT and our 2015 NX. They worked well for a while in my 2021 RX, but now no longer work. As you see above, I thought I fixed it, but now it's totally broken for playing music from a usb stick with voice commands. Navigation and phone dialling work fine - it just seems to be "play album <name>" type of commands that don't work because there is an issue getting music data into the voice command system. I would like to ask anyone who has voice command problems, and would use it if they thought it worked properly (I have found it fantastic in the past when it did work), to report the bug. If sufficient people raise a concern over this, it has a greater chance of being fixed. Paul -
Hi Mike, Will do. Unless the LC has a very different software base in the infotainment than the current RX then I suspect the latest software will not help you here - as my RX is running the latest at present. Unfortunately I have been so used to barking "play album <name>" commands at our CT and NX over the years that not having it working in the RX is rather annoying and surprising. Luckily my dealer is only a 5min drive away. I'll keep this thread updated with my findings. Paul PS I'm envious of you LC500 owners, but the argument to my wife that "it has isofix points in the back, so it's a family car..." didn't work. 🙂

Hi Mike, I have sent a link to this post to Lexus customer service given the apparent synergy in the two bugs. Did this bug manifest itself after a visit to the dealer (and perhaps a software upgrade) or you only just recently tried the ipod for the first time in the car? For my RX, I had voice commands working on mp3 playback off the stick intermittently, but I believe it became much worse when the Feb 21 software release was installed. This could still be a coincidence, however, given it was still temperamental before. I will post when I find out more. Paul

Alex - check your stick is formatted as FAT32. Windows 10 will use exFAT on >32GB usb disks, and the Lexus can only read FAT32. Paul

Mike, I have a similar issue, but on my usb stick, with my 2021 RX. All voice commands work fine (phone, nav etc), but when I try to use them for playing albums etc off the usb stick, I get the "no media device selected" message... even though the album list works fine when selecting in menus. I use (well, I used to) this feature all the time... I have an open case with Lexus UK on this. Paul

Hi Jason, Thanks for noting this - however I think the voice training has been removed in the later versions of the head unit software. I seem to remember we had this on our CT, but it's not on the new RX (just checked the manual and can't see any mention of it. Interestingly I think it is still present on the American systems... Problem for me seems to be that the voice command system is not even indexing the album/track/artist names on the usb disk. Paul

Hi All, thanks Banji for the reply. Sorry for my long reply but some of this may be useful - particularly with what I have found in the Feb 21 software update to the multimedia system... 1. car plays mp3s in alphabetical, rather than disc number/track number order (work around by renaming mp3s as "%disknumber.%tracknumber %title". This is acknowledged by Lexus. Let's hope for a fix where the system reads mp3 track number id3 tags.... I can only encourage people who are annoyed by this to raise it with their dealer and with customer service. I can't imagine this is more than 1 afternoon work for a programmer. 2. trackpad haptic feedback turning on when it is set to off (goes away on infotainment reboot) This was acknowledged by Lexus and fixed in the Feb 2021 software update. If you usually leave the trackpad haptic feedback on, you won't have noticed this of course. I turn it off and hence noticed it. Anyway, it's fixed in the February update. 3. cycling through different map views and returning to the angled/3D view, the car is not always pointing up on the map (goes away on infotainmemt on reboot) I have not noticed this occurring again since the dealer updated me to the Feb 2021 software. 4. Been trying for about 10 days to activate the wifi subscription.. still not managed... (many people seem to have issues with this) This is now resolved.... my vehicle had an additional problem where it was registered in the free-wifi trial period, but I picked it up a day after the trial ended, hence various things on lexus link were completed before and after the free wifi cut off. This was a "special case" for my car and is now fixed - free wifi enabled for 6 months. Required some back end work in the online system by Lexus. Bad timing/luck on my part. 5. Rattle in driver's door (steadily getting worse) This is fixed now I believe as of a trip to the dealer yesterday. It seems the rattle was in the extendable drivers door bin mechanism. I also had a rattle where the dashboard meets the a pillar just below the speaker. This was also fixed yesterday. 6. Intermittent behaviour in voice command system (goes away on infotainment reboot) This got much much worse since the Feb 2021 update was applied and now no longer works at all. The voice commands do work for everything apart from "play album" etc for accessing memory stick music. The same usb stick works totally fine in my 2015 NX, works fine in a 2015 IS, fine in a new UX and does not work in a 2021 NX and another 2021 RX I have tried it in at the dealer. It may well be that if you have not got the Feb 21 software update yet (which I got because it fixed the track pad issue), you may not have seen this issue with voice command music playback. Banji - do you ever use voice commands for playing music off a usb stick? If so, be cautious about being updated to the Feb 21 software at your next service... This issue is not totally confirmed yet, and I will post an update as soon as I have more concrete information. Thanks everyone for reafing and I hope this is useful. The main word of caution is that the Feb 21 update seems to have totally broken the usb music voice commands.... at least for me. Lexus are investigating. We still have to totally rule out the issue being my music/stick, but the fact that it works on my wife's 2015 NX, and the problem has gone from intermittent to always on the RX since the Feb 21 update was installed, suggests to me something has happened recently in the code base to break this. Thanks, Paul

Hi Simon, I had the same question for my new RX too.... I have looked into this. It turns out that the wifi box has an e-sim. So it can't be changed unless it is re-provisioned by Lexus to another provider (through a software change). Currently they use Orange and you can buy a subscription on the my lexus website. Here is the link to the manual for the 4G box, which talks about an e-sim: https://www.lexus-tech.eu/aimuploads/5b76a9e8-0ec7-4d68-8853-46b80d5dba39/PW680-10100-NE.PDF Paul

New NX reverse noise
PDM replied to abhundia's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Hi, what sort of noise is it? My new RX intentionally makes a low frequency noise when moving slowly on electric mode to warn people. I thought to start with it sounded like the brakes dragging, but its an intentional warning tone. I notice it when backing off the drive in a morning. -
Hi All, Thought I'd post an update and see if anyone else has been seeing these issues. I'm now suffering from many many bugs in the infotainment. The trackpad haptic feedback turning on when it was set to off has been fixed, I believe, but voice commands for playing music off the usb stick (play album XXXX) are now almost totally broken. The exact same stick works perfectly, with voice commands, in my 2015 NX.... Yesterday's bug was that when I select a radio station from the list of available DAB stations, the car plays a different station to the one selected. This seems to be an "off by 2 error" in that what gets played is the station 2 entries up in the list from the one that I click on. Have any other RX owners (with the newer touch screen infotainment) seen these issues? I'm trying to help Lexus get to the bottom of this as fast as possible so gathering as much info as I can. Many thanks, Paul

Lexus WiFi Hotspot "Weak" security reported on ipad
PDM replied to PDM's topic in Lexus Audio/Video/Electronics/Security
Hi All, I changed the SSID of the box and reconnected and now the ipad is no longer complaining. It seems as though even through the box was previously set to WPA2/AES only, it may not have been until I changed the SSID. I suspect that previously it was actually running in hybrid WPA/WPA2 mode, even though it said it wasn't. Cheers, Paul -
Lexus WiFi Hotspot "Weak" security reported on ipad
PDM replied to PDM's topic in Lexus Audio/Video/Electronics/Security
Hi. The wifi box itself is set to AES only but somehow the ipad thinks it is connecting with tkip. Windows devices report connecting with AES. I dont see a way on the ipad of forcing an AES connection (although on the router side, tkip should not even be available to the ipad). Cheers, Paul -
Hi Everyone, Just trying to finalise the hotspot setup in my new RX and when I join an ipad (running IpadOS14.2) to the hotspot, the ipad tells me the security between the hotspot and the ipad is "weak". The hotspot settings (accessible from 192.168.0.1 when joined to your hotspot) show the wifi security is set to WPA2 AES (which the ipad weould consider secure), but the ipad is telling me it has joined using WPA2 TKIP instead. A windows 10 laptop seems to join using AES, so perhaps the ipad is at fault here? Has anyone seen/resolved this one? Paul

Hi All, Just an update. A software patch was applied today that should have fixed the track pad issue of haptic feedback turning on when switched off in the settings. Working so far. It may have addressed some of the other issues too, but it possibly also created another one 😞 . I'm now on a Feb 21 release. Rather than bore you with my speculation here, I'll post back when I have more concrete info. As you would expect(!) the rattle was not present when they test drove it. That one may take a while to find.... Lexus also think they know why I cannot activate my WIFI subscription. It seems my car was registered a couple of days before the free wifi offer ended, but I only picked up the car (and tried to setup the wifi) a couple of days after it ended. It seems part of the Lexus/Orange backend may think I should have free wifi, and part of it thinks I need to pay.... and it's falling over with some conflict. Cheers, Paul

Track sequence wrong when playing MP3's from USB
PDM replied to Fusspot's topic in Lexus ES 300h Club
Thanks, Charli. Will keep this post updated if and when I get some more feedback from them. Paul -
Hi All, On my third Lexus (first RX) and the first time I have started to engage in these forums. It's nice to meet you all, but unfortunately I'm writing because of some issues... I thought I had solved most of my problems (due to a corrupt memory stick... as I added to this thread yesterday... and the problem is certainly less frequent at present than it was last week... ...but it seems that on starting the car this morning the problems came back. The voice command system was not recognising the usb stick ("play album <name>" and the car responded, "no media selected") even though it was playing an mp3 from the stick at the time.... I waited in case it was reindexing/syncing the disk but the problem persisted even after 5mins. In addition, even though I have the haptic feedback on the track pad set to "force=0", the pad was shaking as my finger moved around. A reboot of the infotainment (holding down the on/off switch for a few seconds) and the voice commands started working again, and the haptic feedback was off as expected. Last week I was also experiencing some intermittent behaviour when changing the map view (cycling between north up, vehicle up, and the angled view) but have not seen these issues again. I have this logged with customer relations and the dealer but I wanted to see if anyone had come across these issues. I wonder of these are software bugs (that everyone might see) or a hardware problem specific to my RX. I don't want the dealer to rip out and change the infotainment system if this is a common software bug that needs fixing rather than a specific hardware fault. So far, my total list of issues (after 2 weeks ownership) are: 1. car plays mp3s in alphabetical, rather than disc number/track number order (work around by renaming mp3s as "%disknumber.%tracknumber %title". 2. haptic feedback turning on when it is set to off (goes away on infotainment reboot) 3. cycling through different map views and returning to the angled/3D view, the car is not always pointing up on the map (goes away on infotainmemt on reboot) 4. Been trying for about 10 days to activate the wifi subscription.. still not managed... (many people seem to have issues with this) 5. Rattle in driver's door (steadily getting worse) 6. Intermittent behaviour in voice command system (goes away on infotainment reboot) I'm booked in on Tuesday at the dealer... Any ideas, folks? After 8 very happy years with the brand to date, I'm feeling pretty unlucky at present. Thanks, Paul

RX450HL Voice commands
PDM replied to James Roc's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
Hi All, I seem to be an outlier here but I have always found the voice commands to work pretty well for both phone dialling and playing music of a usb stick. (Good experiences now on 2013 CT, 2015 NX, 2021 RX). Never tried it for navigation... However, on my new RX, I was having some serious issues a week or so ago. Turned out that a corrupt usb disk full of mp3s (which would actually play ok in the car and was seen fine on my PC) was somehow stopping the voice commands from working (not sure how these things are related.... other than through the infotainment system) A low level format of the stick and I reloaded the mp3s and the voice commands work properly again. James - if you have a usb stick of music in use, you might want to try again with the stick removed? Paul -
Thanks, Banji. I may need to resort to that. Yesterday (on the 50th try overall?) I managed to get my identity validated with the right combination of photos. "Finally!" I thought... but... then... not so fast. It then failed me on the next page that asks for your address! I have updated the ever patient multimedia team and will see if anything comes back before I visit the dealer to get some new tyres on my wife's car on Tuesday. If I find anything more concrete about how to guide this this thing through I'll post more info... The multimedia team is well aware that this process is not good enough and are hoping significant improvements can be made. Paul
-
Hi All, I also have an open query with the Multimedia customer relations team on this (who are very helpful but of course they are at the mercy of those who actually run the service). Apparently I missed out on the free internet subscription by about 3 days... and when I try to purchase a subscription, no matter what I try, the system cannot validate my identity. Did anyone have any look getting through that stage? Paul
