  1. Rob, I should have also said - you may find that at some point it could randomly start to work. For me, occasionally a disk will get indexed into the voice commands after a few days. Sometimes never. I had also thought it could simply be that it takes time to perform the indexing, but on my wife's 2015 NX it does it in a minute or two, and before it has indexed, if you try to use the voice commands it says " voice commands not available at this time" I think. Then a minute later it all works. I hope at some point your car will reindex this for you so it works again before we (hopefully) get a software fix. Cheers, Paul
  2. Rob, Thanks for the update. If you havent already, please let customer relations know at cr@lexus.co.uk My head unit it being swapped in my vehicle on friday so that the current one can go to lexus for diagnosis. The more people who raise this issue formally to customer relations, the faster it will get fixed. Cheers, Paul
  3. Hi John, The current vehicles come with 3 years free map updates, issued every 6 months. I was pretty upset when Blackberry 10 went end of life and I had to switch to an android based phone... ho hum. Paul
  4. Hi Herbie, Thanks. Interesting how some people find the Lexus voice commands work well and some people have little luck. I'm originally from Yorkshire and find they work well with my accent - perhaps it doesn't like the accent from across the Pennines! 🙂 Seriously, I would say voice commands for phone dialling work perfectly for me on more than 9 out of 10 dialling attempts. There is also internet radio provided in the new vehicles as part of the Lexus wifi box (although the interface is quite primative and no where near as good as what you will get on a phone, but the service is there. I think it is the most under-advertised feature). I will have more of a play with AA. Paul
  5. Thanks, Colin. Particularly in your point that with car play you can join webex... Paul
  6. Hi All, I'm genuinely curious as to what people find so clunky on the Lexus sat nav? I think we can break down the merits (or not) of the system into 2 categories: 1. How good is it at route planning/Time of arrival prediction etc? 2. How good is the user interface? Can it let you perform the types of input etc that you want to do? I suspect for 1, the answer is "not as good as Google/Garmin etc" but it seems a lot of people here simply don't like the user interface. I go back to a comment I made previously on here - user interfaces are either familiar (because you have learned them) or not familiar (because you haven't). Do people really find the UI so bad? Is it really slow to respond? I never thought that (yes - it takes a few seconds to calculate a route...). Having used a Lexus satnav in it's several generations for a while now (and admittedly nothing else) perhaps I don't know what I am missing....?? I'm also less convinced than others about the merits of Android Auto. I don't see that many more features that it provides over the built in vehicle systems with a phone paired on BT (if they are working properly) - apart from being able to use a different mapping application. One thing I was excited about when purchasing my new RX with Android Auto was going to be the ability to join conference calls (Teams/Zoom) - on audio only of course - whilst driving. Alas, it can't do that..... that would have been excellent. Also, AA/ACP are not so integrated into the vehicle systems (heads up display navigation is one limitation). So, what am I missing by sticking with the inbuilt system? (assuming I keep the maps up to date, which I do... twice per year on the new systems). Cheers, Paul P.S. I clearly have a different view of what I want from a phone to most people - I still use a Blackberry.... (an android one...) so perhaps I have a strange view of what I want from the inbuilt systems!
  7. Hi, There have been issues with speed camera notifications recently if an over the air map update has been done. This may be why you were not getting the double beep. If you do a clean map install of 2021v1 (the latest) on a usb stick, then if this was the issue, it should start working again. See my post on this here: Worst case is it doesnt fix it, but at least you have the up to date maps. I also like the directions on the heads up display. Paul
  8. Unfortunately not. AA/ACP does not drive the HUD directions display. Paul
  9. I must be unlucky and catch it at bad times! Cheers, Paul
  10. Hi Steve, Glad it's up and running for you. From what I understand, the new infotainment package and connectivity that is coming with the new NX may be more unified across continents... so the disparity may disappear. Doesn't help us with our current vehicles of course! Some of this may stem from regulation differences (e.g. remote start/stop for ICE/hybrid vehicles I believe). In the same way, USA doesn't get digital door mirrors on the ES like we can option in the UK, so it's swings and roundabouts. Enjoy your new found connectivity! Paul
  11. Indeed. If you do everything on your phone through android auto then you only need the android auto connection to be active.
  12. I suspect this is a legacy hardware thing - the original MM17 systems (and earlier) only ever needed to read from one usb port at once (as you could only be listening to music, or watching videos, from one port at once). The AA capable MM19 system which your car will have has inherited this limitation, that I guess was not foreseen prior to android auto/car play coming to the picture. It will be interesting to see what the salesman says! (Of course, id love to be wrong and see he has a solution, but...) And yes, its a first world problem, but then again you have just spent a lot of money... Cheers, Paul
  13. Hi David, You cannot play music from usb disks whilst AA/ACP is active. It is one or the other. There are two usb ports in the centre console, which are for both power and data (usb music, AA, ACP etc). There are two in the centre stack under the climate control buttons which are for charging only. There are two in the back (well, middle row in the RXL) in the centre arm rest I believe. (In the non L model they are below the rear climate vents). These are again just for charging. Paul
  14. To stop the map auto zooming, I think this should work: Go to: Setup Navigation Map And turn automatic map zoom to off. Thanks, Paul
  15. Incidentally, if anyone wants instructions as to how to do a complete map update from a usb stick, see these very clear instructions from Phil (pobrown):
  16. I agree, John - it is sub standard. Motoring journalists dislike it because they say it is not user friendly or it is lacking features. This is subjective and, after all, the operation and features are on display when you choose to buy a car. I actually like the system design and I like the trackpad *when it all works as it is supposed to*. I also don't think there is really such a thing as an intuitive or unintuitive interface - just ones that are familiar (learned) and ones that are unfamiliar. What troubles me, however, are the number of bugs in the latest MM19 software and in the Lexus backend, and the reliability/uptime of the backend. And of course this is not something you see when buying the car... only after using it for a few days/weeks/months. I hope they get their act together. As I have said several times on this forum - please report bugs to customer relations at cr@lexus.co.uk - this is the most productive thing we can do to try to get Lexus to up their game and fix the software problems. Paul
  17. Steve, it seems the My Lexus backend is now back up for me so perhaps try again? Paul
  18. Steve, This morning I tried to login to "My Lexus" and send a destination to the car. That service was/is down, so it seems there are some issues at present. I have reported this to customer relations. I'll message you when its back up for me and perhaps you may find it works after that? Paul
  19. Dear All, Just an information share... In my 2021 RX with MM19 multimedia (the one with AA/ACP), after doing an over the air map update for the GB/IE maps (I think this was the trigger), speed cameras failed to show if Android Auto/Apple Carplay was selected as the default service under "General settings". They would show (some of the time) when using "Lexus Online" as the default service but seemed to disappear after a long drive.. After updating the entire map database over USB to 2021v1, the problem seems resolved and speed camera warnings are showing again even when AA/ACP is selected. Customer relations are aware of this issue. This is in a 2021RX, so not sure if the error or fix appear in any other models, but they could well do, hence me posting this in the general electronics forum. Paul
  20. Hi Steve, Which parts are not working for you? It all seems to be working for me this morning, but I have had sevral issues in the past: 1. Shows vehicle in a different place to where it actually is (i.e. position not updating) 2. Journey info not updating sometimes until a day or so after he journey. (Only happens occasionally) There have also been issues with the map update configuration to choose regions to do OTA updates on (on "My Lexus" on the web) not working until recently, Radly.fm not working (the bluetooth internet radio that is part of the wifi box) and occasional issues with data usage information on the wifi hotspot. Did you notice other broken items? Paul
  21. Hmmm... it could be. Mine was mot as continuous, but perhaps louder when it came on (hard to tell from a recording though). But it sounds a but like 2 slightly sticky surfaces sticking and unsticking each other very quickly? I had to press on the slightly raised thin piece of dash where it meets the A pillar, infront of the speaker, for mine to stop. I suspect it is essentially the same thing though, even if it comes from a place a few cm different to yours. (Yours is on the lower, rather than the raised part, right?). Paul
  22. Chris, My 2021 RX had what looks to be exactly the same problem where the A pillar meets the dash on the driver side (along with some other rattles that are yet to be resolved.) The A pillar rattle was resolved for me by Lexus Gatwick on the first go. Seems to be the wrong end of the country for you but perhaps your dealer could call Gatwick to find out how they fixed it? Seems a shame for you to do it when the vehicle is under the original warranty. I can tell that they re-seated the dash and the speaker on the driver side. I don't think they touched the A pillar trim at all. Paul
  23. Hi John, On the very occasional time that my phone does not auto connect to bluetooth, a reboot of the infotainment (5s hold of the power on button on the stereo) seems to fix it and the phone will connect as the system comes back up. Have you tried that? I agree that the ML sounds excellent. Paul
  24. Robert - can I just check - I assume the mp3s will play from both ports, but the voice commands only seem to work from one port? Is that right? Thanks, Paul
