  1. Herbie, Looks like it could be Gen 9: https://lexus2.custhelp.com/ci/fattach/get/248839/1518556877/redirect/1/filename/Navigation GEN Index pdf.pdf Although this is a US site.... Do they even use the same generation designations in the UK? And i f they do, does it change in sync with changes in US model years... hmm... I honestly don't know. I've always known the systems in the UK as MM13, MM15, MM17, and the latest AA/ACP version is MM19. (And there is a new one coming with the new NX of course). But perhaps this refers to software functionality rather than hardware generation? Paul
  2. This thread includes the usb update instructions link, which fixed it last time.
  3. Hi, Yes this also happened with the OTA on the 2021v1 update too. You will find a thread on here about it... I should have linked to it... Sorry. I reported this bug to customer relations last time. If you have not reported this to customer relations then please email cr@lexus.co.uk. The solution is to update the entire map database from usb stick. (When you do OTA it loads eg the UK maps only on top of the old map database. Usb installs will update the entire map database from scratch) It's very disappointing that they have now know about this for 6 months and neither fixed it or added a warning to say that it's updates break speed cameras. I guess, like last time, even if you are online but using Android auto or car play, it still won't work. You need to have Lexus Online selected as the default service and as you say you need the internet connection active too. Very odd. I'll link in a moment to the old thread and the instructions on usb updates. Paul
  4. Hi All, Just to let you know that the latest map updates (2021 V2) are now available from here: https://www.lexus-tech.eu/Navigation/base Paul
  5. Ahhh... well spotted. I had not seen that. I think this is a very likely explanation! Paul
  6. Hi Everyone, My navigation system (MM19 in a 2021 RX) lost position last night whilst driving for over 30mins and showed me driving across roads and fields that were miles away from my actual location. I originally noticed it because the speed limits that were showing had become nonsense for the roads I was on. I rebooted the system (holding down the power button on the radio for 5s) but it did not resolve the issue. I power cycled the vehicle on returning home but the problem persisted. It "fixed" itself this morning when I reversed off the drive. I have driven on that route hundreds of times and never had an issue, and never have I ever seen this on any previous Lexus vehicles I have owned or driven. I am now waiting to see if this happens again. Has anyone else ever seen this type of issue? I don't see that it could have been a problem with satellite coverage (not over such a wide area and not given I have driven on these roads many many times before without the issue). The software version on my Navigation is 1160 (recently upgraded - so the issue could be a bug in the new software release but I have no way at present of telling). Cheers, Paul
  7. Whilst hunting for a rattle in my RX with the master tech at my dealer, he mentioned that he had seen creaking grab handles on the ES (he checked to see if it was an issue on mine but then realised the ES ones are a different design of grab handle to the RX). So i would say there is a decent chance your dealer might have seen this specific issue before and know how to fix it. Paul
  8. Hi Everyone, Just a brief update. As I mentioned in my last post, Lexus had previously replaced part of the head unit. This week just gone they replaced the other part of the unit. All of the old infotainment system hardware is now with, or on its way to, Lexus UK for them to diagnose things based on the log files on that hardware. I will let you know the more I find out, but at least this continue to move forward. Cheers, Paul
  9. As far as I know the BSM works with single chip radar. (as does the adaptive cruise control). Perhaps they have eliminated blind spots with the cameras, but keep the BSM as an extra warning that it is not safe to change lane? Paul
  10. Hi John, VOLTE=Voice Over LTE (where LTE is 4G). Not all 4G phones are capable of doing VOLTE... I just got a new phone which is (Pixel 5) and now I have the intermittent caller ID sometimes working sometimes not... I'll do some more digging. Cheers, Paul
  11. John, can I ask if VOLTE (4G calling) is enabled on your phone/network? I still think the VOLTE/non-VOLTE mix of incoming calls is what is making this intermittent for me. Paul
  12. Hi Everyone, This is a strange one: sometimes incoming calls from, let's say, "Person A" come up in the car properly with their caller ID "Person A". However, sometimes calls from "Person A" simply show as their number, rather than as "Person A". I have all my address book numbers stored in full international format (+44.... etc) and when the caller ID fails, their number shows on the vehicle screen without the +44. I am assuming therefore that sometimes, the incoming number is being acquired as +4478xxxx etc... and sometimes as 078xxxx etc. Thus, if it comes in with international prefix, caller ID works. If not, it doesn't. My hunch is that calls have the international prefix for VOLTE (HD) calls but not for regular calls. Has anyone else seen this intermittent behaviour, and/or figured out what is going on? I have already suggested to customer relations that this could be solved by matching only that last 10 digits of the phone number with the stored address book. Paul
  13. I do think that Lexus could have done a better job with the placement of the screens. If you look at what Audi is doing with integration of digital wing mirrors, they are much more integrated into the cabin than the ones on the ES. There is probably another advantage for digital mirrors that I don't think anyone has mentioned yet. I assume (I do not know for certain) that they may be better in the rain than conventional mirrors and depending on the quality/technology in the sensor/lens placement, and are perhaps better in the dark? There is scope for adding some image processing in the chain so I can see they images could be better than a simple mirrors in some conditions. And I also guess the field of view can be big enough to eliminate a blind spot. But I have never tried them, so this is all speculation based on what I think should be possible with this type of solution. Paul
  14. Hi Rob, It has come back...!! but it was when I put in a different memory stick with more music. (I have 2 sticks which are being progressively updated with more music as I rip it all from CD and occasionally get swapped between computer and car). I did the swap on about day 15 I think.... for some reason the old stick did not want to come to life. Hmmm.... it's quirky, isn't it? I have actually just heard from customer relations today and they are next going to swap over another component on my vehicle (the head unit it in two parts... they previously took one and now want the other) as part of their debug process. Paul
  15. Thanks, Rob. Interesting. I wonder if the 13 days thing is consistent across this problem. It could be the time take for the voice command cache to be marked as dirty and the disk needing re-indexing. Mine failed on Saturday with a new stick inserted. Let me see if it wakes up again a week on Friday! Thanks, Paul
  16. And... it seems I spoke too soon. After about 20 starts of the car where voice command have worked perfectly on audio release 1007, they failed this afternoon. This is a shame. I thought we had a known good reference version at least, but alas we do not. Paul
  17. Just to update anyone who has an interest in this thread. My dealer swapped over my head unit last week. As shipped, the replacement unit had audio software release 1007 loaded on it. (The old unit that has now gone back to Lexus had the latest public release which is audio 1138). After a discussion with the dealer, we decided to leave the s/w on 1007 so that I could test that. (Note that software on these units can only be upgraded, not downgraded). I can confirm that 1007 has working voice commands for playing mp3s from a memory stick. Therefore, there has been a regression at some point between 1007 and 1138. I have no further news at this time but will update as and when I get some. Cheers, Paul
  18. Rob, I'll send you a direct message. Paul
  19. Hi Rob, Ok. Thats a shame. Given the changelogs I thought an update might help but as you say, you are already on the latest avaiable releases. I understand there is an audio 1140 on some newly delivered vehicles but this is not yet available on lexus tech or to dealers for upgrades on existing ones. I also have no idea what it may fix, but at least it does suggest an update my be imminent. Regarding your wifi connection: are you using the internet capability on your phone using a wifi hotspot on the phone or are you using internet over bluetooth tethering? Both are possible. You may wish to swap and try the other option and see if it works better. Paul
  20. Rob, which version of DCU software are you running? Go to settings, general, s/w update and it will tell you. (I think that's correct)... It will be listed as "Audio version". If you version is less than 1051 I think an update *may* fix it (quite a number of iphone related issues were fixed in 1051). Are you using a wifi hotspot or doing the internet connection share to the car from the phone over the BT? Paul

  22. Thanks, Rob. Feeling somewhat better this morning! Hopefully this message will have fewer typos and odd words! My vehicle is going in to the dealer on friday for them to swap the head unit over. This is not because they think there is a hardware fault with my unit - it is because they want to do a deep diagnosis on the logs on my unit to try to resolve the issue. (Odd they cannot be downloaded onto a usb but apparently they need the unit). This keeps me somewhat hopeful that they will work on a fix. Thanks for reporting it - strength in numbers! Ill keep you informed of progress. Paul
  23. Hi Rob, Resolutely . It should not take a week to index a memory stick. It should take 2mins. This is a clear defect. I, and several other on here have reported it. For me, sometimes it never indexes it at all. Seems to vary from stick to stick. At present I feel the issue of eventually indexing, or never indexing, is related to the depth of the folder hierarchy on the disk. (Although I am always within the limits specified in the manual. Thanks for also raising the ordering issue for playback. I have also reported the track ordering decent and the impact this has on the voice commands for songs to Lexus. I recommend you report that too. It admonishes me that anyone ever thought it was sensible to play albums in track order. Also, you may find that you cannnot have multiple artists on the same album - otherwise they appear as different albums! (Compilation albums, anyone!) I have it on good authority from Customer relations that the more reports they get the more they likely they will issue a software fix so if you do have a moment to drop a quick email to cr@lexus.co.uk you are adding to the case number and increasing the chances of a fix. They are very friendly! Thanks very much. Sorry if I sound grumpy, just coming round from a general anaesthetic! Cheers, Paul
  24. Hi All, Same for me. I assume it it because the DCM uses gps data to track where it has been, rather than counting wheel revolutions. I would therefore expect the readings to further diverge over time but have not monitored the delta between the two readings. I guess this is because the lexus link functions are very much a bolt on for the existing MM19 infotainment systems through the wifi box rather than being truly integrated into the vehicle design from the beginning. Paul
