RC to RX
PDM replied to NemesisUK's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
Peter, did you manage to reload the maps from usb to get speed camera alerts working again? Paul -
Graham, On MM19 (as in outgoing 4RX, like Peter mentions above), if you try to update the map and the map is the current one, it will simply say "map is up to date", rather than give an error message. Therefore a message like "Problem with map update" definitely sounds like a genuine error. On MM19 we are currently running Spring 2022 (aka 2022v1), which has 2021 Q3 map data in it. When Autumn 2022 (aka 2022v2) comes out (perhaps in a few days), it should contain 2022 Q1 map data. (Thus the map is around 6 months old at the point of installation!) I can see here that the new MM21 system for the 2NX (called SMART CONNECT on Lexus-tech) has a current map version that includes map data from 2021 Q3, so this is in line with the (current) MM19 Spring 2022. https://www.lexus-tech.eu/Navigation/base The full code on Lexus Tech for you is 12-22-01[2021-12-1] (2021Q3 data) This is actually newer than the one you report above... so there is an update available. Also to reinforce the comment that Peter makes - on MM19 an OTA update consistently breaks speed camera notifications. No input on here yet, to my knowledge, if this also breaks the speed camera info on MM21.... but there's a good chance it will. Perhaps try doing an update on a memory stick, or, ask the dealer to do it for you. Paul

On my wife's NX, the anti glare on the sat nav screen got damaged by a valeting company using silicon spray on the screen which lifted the coating at the edges and had one scratch right through the middle! This resulted in me buying a can of said spray, and removing the coating from the whole screen. For me, it made absolutely no difference at all to usability/reflections/sunlight and it got rid of the scratches! I'm glad that the anti-glare coatings you get on glasses are a lot more robust than the coatings on Lexus sat nav screens! Paul

Lexus quality control (faults)
PDM replied to fourbanks's topic in Lexus UX250h / UX300h / UX300e Club
The infotainment software is very buggy. On my 21RX (and other models with MM19 software), several things are broken: 1. Unreliable (sometimes never) indexing of mp3s on a usb stick into the voice command system 2. Radly internet radio does not work (it did for a while and then stopped randomly) Lots more smaller bugs which I have reported to Lexus but no action has been taken. I see from reading the forums here that MM21 in the new NX is also bug ridden (broken profiles being a particular issue, as well as vehicle location not updating in the app/web). Paul -
Map updates

The immediate fix is to get them to do a full map update from usb. Just to be sure you have checked that "show speed cameras" is enabled in the navigation options menu? From memory... I think.... Settings->navigation->show speed camera alerts Good luck getting it sorted. Paul -

I think that may be a different beep like the noise it makes when you try to input something wrongly (although I cannot be certain). I don't think there has ever been an on/off setting specifically for the speed camera audible alert. -

Do the cameras show on the map and you are just missing the beeps, or there are no cameras showing at all? If the latter then you have the common the OTA update bug and need to update all maps from usb. Please complain to Lexus if this is the case. Paul -

Music on USB
PDM replied to BasingstokeRed's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
Artwork needs to be embedded at 500x500 pixels maximum to work reliably. If you are only seeing around 500 tracks, this suggests that you may be going over the maximum number of files per directory? Do you just have the files split in two directories? This table may be of use. Looks like you cannot have 10k tracks.... the maximum is 9999! (As a point of reference, I have around 8k files and the system works fine.... apart from broken voice commands). -

Incidentally you can't enable or disable the beep beep i believe. Its always there (when speed camera notification is working). Paul -

Dan, This suggests to me that the software may have been update over the air. Can I confirm the year of the vehicle? You are in a 2020 RX? If this is the case i would suggest that at some point an OTA update has been done that has broken the speed camera notifications. Rather shocking that Lexus are aware of this bug and have done nothing to fix it.... The OTA update will have probably only updated the GB maps and not other countries. To fix this you will then need to update the complete map database from usb. Let me find a thread on that. I'll post back in a minute. Paul -

Dan, Yes you can. go into Setup-> Lexus Online and make sure "Auto Download" is unchecked. you could also uncheck "Auto Check" if you wish. I leave auto check on, so that it alerts me when there is a new update, and leave auto download off, so that I know when to do the update via a usb stick. Paul -

PDM replied to Sybaris's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
Dan, If you have a 2015 NX200t as per your profile, then the update is via a micro SD card in the center stack behind a little flap that flips up, just below the radio media/seek buttons. This is payable. On newer models the update can occur OTA and they come with 3 years of "map care" updates included. On these, however, you should never do an OTA update - always do the update by downloading from the web to a usb stick and then update the car from the usb stick, otherwise speed camera notifications will stop working. Paul -
What i find crazy (true on my 2021 RX as it sounds as is the case on your new NX) is that the basic automotive engineering is superb but what lets the vehicles down are the customer touch points with the technology. There are still many bugs in the older MM19 system that ships with the outgoing RX (music voice commands, tracks play in alphabetical and not track number order, car will not recognise incoming calls on 3g, or not on 4g depending on how you store numbers in the address book (take your pick as to which you want), occasional glitch that the radio station that plays is different to the one you select.... And many more small but very annoying bugs that should not be present in such a car and clearly very little software testing was done). When i test drove a new NX i was surprised to see some of these bugs had carried over into MM21. Very odd for a total system rewrite... I really thought that the new infortainment system and software would fix these things for Lexus... But... As I have told the Lexus UK support line many times, "you can do the hard bits really well and you fail on the easy bits. The problem is, we all expect the easy bits to also be bug free." And the speed at which such things get fixed is glacial to non existent. I'm still waiting for fixes that I (and others on here) reported 18 months ago with the MM19 system and there has been no fix forthcoming.... At the moment i am unable to send navigation destinations from the web site or app to the car... This used to work but randomly stopped a few weeks ago. And I have not managed to get the Radly.fm internet radio working now for over 1 year.... Again... Used to work. Paul

MM17 2020 v1 Map Update released
PDM replied to pobrown's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Still no fix for playing tracks in alphabetical order (instead of track order) and no fix for voice commands. This is true on both MM17 and MM19, despite many complaints to Lexus UK. When i test drove a new NX with MM21 it also had broken voice commands for playing music from a memory stick. Paul -

Portable MP3/music players that will plug in to the car's USB
PDM replied to a topic in Lexus CT 200h Club
We used to have a CT and a Sandisk Cruzer Fit used to allow the cover to close: https://www.westerndigital.com/en-gb/products/usb-flash-drives/sandisk-cruzer-fit-usb-2-0 Looks very similar in form factor to the one that Maurice just suggested. Our CT was a 2013 model and it used to work just fine. In your manual it should state the mp3/flac formats etc that are supported and things like how many files per folder, max number of folders etc. It should read ID3 tags for the artist and track name etc so you can search for the music. Simply choose USB1 or whatever as the music source. You could just do a quick test by putting an mp3 file on any usb disk you have and try to make sure it plays ok in the car. The USB must be formatted FAT32. Paul -
Portable MP3/music players that will plug in to the car's USB
PDM replied to a topic in Lexus CT 200h Club
You could also just load music onto a USB stick and play direct from that. Paul -
Hi, Unfortunately you need the refreshed model from 2020. To mirror the phone screen on car display needs android auto or apple car play which didn't become available until 2020 MY. And even with the 2020 model you cannot get turn by turn onto the HuD. You need what is known as MM21 for that, which is the new infotainment system in the new NX and the new RX which is coming out later this year. The hotspot subscription will not help you achieve any of these things I'm afraid. Paul
-
Just to concur with what the other have said. I think it's called seat easy exist assist or something and it can be set to off, partial or full retract. Yours must be set to off. Have a look in the infotainment menus. I can't remember exactly where it is but it is there! Paul

2023 Lexus RX
PDM replied to rayaans's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
The loss of V6 has been expected from early leaks.... and the highlander also dropping it. The same regarding the analogue clock... I can't see a drive mode selector, and it looks like an RX staple - the fold out front door bins - are also replaced with fixed ones!!! The proof of the pudding will be getting in and driving one of course. I consciously bought a 450h last year knowing the 5th gen weas not that far away - due to the lack of V6 and the general move to touch screens and no hard buttons. I am also in the minority that actually likes the touch pad. (I hate finger prints on the screen!) One nice feature is this 5th gen seems to have a separate rear seat climate control zone. Will be very interested to drive it. Paul PS It does look very close to the highlander in terms of interior design. I wonder how material quality compares between them.
