  1. Looks like these are the latest for MM13. Check out on https://www.lexus-tech.eu/Navigation/Base. Map version 02-41-51 (2020Q4 data) Software version VC18102A
  2. Interesting. I have a feeling that the estore on my RX has not been working either. I'll check and revert. I have seen no announcement about the estore being closed, but then again there was no announcement about Radly internet radio stopping working either, and that hasn't worked for me for 18 months. Paul
  3. Max, Does the car have an active internet connection? Paul
  4. Colin, I asked customer relations specifically and they said my 21 RX has sleeping keys. So perhaps it was introduced without fanfare? Or perhaps customer relations are not clear about the technology? Paul
  5. Colin, seeing your post here jogged my mory of something from earlier about sleeping keys. I asked Lexus specifically about this (as a partial method for preventing relay attacks) and there was a period where Lexus keys were made to sleep and wake up when moved. Of course the newest models are now using UWB. My guess is that Ben's 2022 ES had sleeping keys, so possibility of a relay attack would be reduced. Paul
  6. The thieves can access the CANbus wiring to the headlights through the front wheel arch and inject commands to open the doors and start the car. Lexus are trialing (perhaps soon rolling out) a protection plate to prevent thieves from accessing the wiring through the wheel arch. They have started this on the RX. Not sure about their plans for other models. Paul
  7. As for ECU updates and hybrid control etc etc, I think there are occasional updates for those - but the dealer would just apply them for you at service time I believe. (I seem to remember reading there was an ECU update for cruise control or something on the new NX?). And I also think that testing of the core vehicle ECUs is much more thorough than the infotainment and navigation, which seems to get almost no testing these days given the number of bugs it ships with. Paul
  8. Great that this fix is now starting to roll out. Let's hope thefts start to come down over the coming months... Paul
  9. Hi Les, The Lexus software requires a perfect match because apparently they are unable to write an algorithm to just match the last, say, 10 digits of the phone number. This is another bug I reported in MM19 that they never fixed.... If you store all your numbers in your address book with the dialing code i.e. starting with +44 then it should work fine (almost all the time - unless the call happens to come in as a 3g call...) ...It seems that when you have an incoming call on 4g and above, it is seen with the international code, but on 2/3g it is seen without it. As we move to better 4 and 5g all incoming calls will be high quality 4 or 5g and will need +44 in the address book to match the call. Perhaps just try for the entry in the phone book of your wife and test it works before making any mass changes. If the names that seemed to match do not have the +44 stored in the address book, they may simply have come in as 3g calls. As usual, it's buggy and annoying but there is a work around. Cheers, Paul
  10. Steve, You can probably implement the work-around faster than you think. This software can automatically add the prefixes for you in one batch: https://www.mp3tag.de/en/ Please feel free to also write to cr@lexus.co.uk as another customer who thinks the "design" is bonkers. This (any many other bugs in MM19) could be fixed in less than a day for a programmer, but.... Are the voice commands working for you? ("Play album XXXXX")? Paul
  11. Steve, The MM19 audio system you have on a 22 ES plays tracks of an album in alphabetical order, rather than track number. It's alphabetical based on sorting of the track name id3 label. I have been round the block with Lexus on this one and all I get told is "this is how it is designed". I argue that in this case it wasn't designed because I know nobody that listens to music from an album in alphabetical order. But.. no fix... The work around is to prefix all your song names with: $disc_number.$track_number So that they sort correctly. Paul
  12. CAN is a two wire bus With CAN high and CAN low signals. If no node is transmitting, both wires are at 2.5V (called a recessive state), but when transmitting the CAN high goes to around 3.5 and CAN low to 1.5 (dominant state) and the bits are transmitted by a rapid succession of dominant and recessive states - the sequence being determined by the data being sent. In a compliant CAN network, a dominant state always overrides a recessive state due to the implementation of the CAN transceivers. I believe from what I have read that the CAN invader can overwrite a dominant state with a recessive state (because it uses a modified transceiver that is not CAN compliant) and this causes errors when nodes try to communicate because a compliant transceiver will not read back a dominant state even though it has tried to transmit one. Voltage is measured between two points and so if point A is positive with respect to point B, point B is negative with respect to point A. Paul
  13. Nick, Have you by any chance done an over the air map update recently? Paul
  14. You will need to email cr@lexus.co.uk in the first instance. They will then arrange things with your local dealer for fitment. No rattling at all. Paul
  15. It will certainly fit other models, including first gen NX. Not sure about other models but I suspect it is somewhat universal across the range. Paul
  16. All, I had one fitted to my RX today. As @08ISF suggests, probably best not to explain too much on a public forum but I have confidence that it will make a significant difference to thefts and make thieves move on to other targets. I understand it has been deployed in other markets and has had a substantial impact in theft reduction in those places. I think the main thing now is that the community of RX, NX, ES etc owners approach their dealers to schedule fitting (clearly this will take some time) but only by getting this installed in more vehicles will theft statistics come down, hopefully causing insurance premiums to do the same. Paul
  17. I agree that is very annoying. It seems the system can only talk to one usb port at once (which was sufficient until car play and android auto came along).
  18. correct! Although I remembered wrongly. I actually use a 128GB. Not sure of the limit on MM19, but no issues with 128GB. Paul
  19. it's just nice to have it work properly when a regular CD is used.
  20. 99% of the time I use high bit rate mp3s on a 512k memory stick. Quality on ML is excellent.
  21. John, It adds track names and album names to regular audio CDs. This is nice to have on the one occasion per year (!) I use a CD in the car. I agree that with other forms of digital music, meta data is usually encoded in the files. Paul
  22. John, It is certainly true that on my 21 RX the later versions of the MM19 software remove Gracenote functionality (from something like a mid 2021 update) and I believe it does not come on the new NX and RX for instance. But I wonder if a new database can still be loaded onto cars running older firmware? Paul
  23. Alex Have you tried this on a Lexus? I was not sure how generic the gracenote database is and whether is is transferable between different vendors. Paul
  24. I believe that MM17 and MM19 (or CY17 and CY19) use the same map data format. I think MM19 is very similar to MM17 but with android auto and apple car play added.
  25. I asked the dealer a week ago and they found out from Lexus that the plates are in production but as yet no time line for fitting them. Paul
