  1. Insurance for 7 and tanner!! I seem to recall a marriage licence cost the same 😅😅 But at least you could change your insurance every year 😂😂😂
  2. Well John, I agree with the former but had my 450h for 3 weeks now and my sofas have moved further😂😂😂 Roll on the end of this wretched state of affairs in the country.
  3. Fascinating to compare values, 6.5k will get you 2 Duresta sofas in the sale, now they won't get you anywhere but boy are they comfortable 😂
  4. Morning, I have no interests nor receive favourable treatment but take a look at Oponeo, they have amazing stock of all tyre brands!
  5. Well I know Julian you must feel like Tantalus in Homers account of the Odyssey but I am convinced the answer to your quest is just around the corner as it were 😎
  6. Hi Julian, did you get to view anything this weekend?
  7. Yet Goodyear are still making the 3? Be interested to know why?
  8. I have Goodyear Asymmetric 3's on my Jaguar XKR from Oponeo which are/have been great I will have no hesitation in putting them om my RX when the time comes.
  9. And if it that were so there would be no collective nouns? I think it was the Australians who coined the term "piddle" as the collective noun for a group of pedants 😅😅😅
  10. Royofthe rovers, point of order Sir? No discussion, exchange of views etc about Lexus could be remotely described as boring, now cyclists well that's whole different matter😂😂😂
  11. 0.01% 🤑🤑🤑see a financial adviser quick Malc. I agree about petrol price hikes, no reason for it) using the RX not the XKR means my mpg has doubled so happy there. As to having a full tank well the RX is such a beautiful ride it would be like having a full tin of McVities chocolate digestives, you can't resist keep dipping in😋 As it happens I live 5 miles from the nearest petrol station so yes, I tend to keep more than my immediate needs, its enough of a distress purchase as it is!
  12. Interesting comment but slightly flawed logic! If it was a one-off purchase your argument has merit but buying petrol (a distress purchase) is a continuous process so depending on your usage it makes no difference. Unless of course you do 50 miles a week and are happy to have your cash invested in your tank and not elsewhere .Avoiding condensation is a real must do if you live in say Canada where a low temperature is brutal and often but here in the UK? Be intrigued to know if any members have experienced such a condition in other than cars standing for years
  13. Great choice of music, now adding Jazz would make a perfect quartet🎶
  14. I have a 450h and find my phone with the "Here we go" app a great combo especially speed limit notifications. I use a small magnetic air vent holder and a lead permanently plugged into centre arm rest outlet, very neat and only visible when needed. As to the mouse well I worked for the firm who designed them in the 1970's so I am intrigued almost 50 years later it's still a challenging technology 😉 You don't use it for hours on end as in an office so is just a case of familiarity and then you find it works well. Although I must confess voice navigation input is a mystery
  15. Well mine is; NEC which in Scotland is an abbreviation for National Entitlement Card. Which I thoroughly agree with, everyone should be entitled to drive a Lexus 😎
  16. Well, if you are experiencing MLC at 48 then I am you multiplied by 1.5😂 And the single biggest advantage I find to a private plate (least digits the better) is, it's easier to remember!! Especially useful at those meters which ask for your reg. 😅
  17. Johnatg, Interesting schedule, Total paid in until S1 - £440 ie the actual service cost is being paid for in advance. At S2 - £245 the payment pot will have £480 in it. Therefore £235 going forward, add 3 more payments of £40 therefore 355 in the pot for S3. So it sounds like Lexus Reading have knocked off £100 but won't be liable for it for 3 years. Clever accounting model which I believe is centrally implemented. Haven't accounted for Mot's not clear if included also spark plugs will not be included until 120k as its a major major labour element
  18. That's a great reasoned response thank-you! And yes, you are so right, for people like me permanent deprivation of my vehicle would only represent a minor inconvenience (unless my dog was in it) . Now if it were my XKR that would be totally different 😎 But for people who have a major investment in their car, work and/or financial, theft must be a real emotional wrench. And yes, in those circumstances I would be selling off the family silver to fund Automatrics. Oh, where can I find a 5k 2012, I would love to know😉
  19. Linas. P, You make a number of interesting points but as Edmund Burke (British) commented in the 18th century " The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing" You highlight quite rightly, perhaps, the efficacy of the Automatics solution, (or should that be Automatrics?) but without an affordability versus risk quotient? As a new entrant to Lexus acquisition and this club I suspect, like me, most member's cars are not in the first flush of warranty therefore look to balance out the joy of ownership with Council Tax, Energy bills etc. If not then this site would be called the Bentley Continental Owners Club. So in the face of adversity we naturally feel we should be doing something! And if it's less than optimal, and affordable, and quite honestly makes us feel at least we did something how wrong can that be? In regard to British is best etc. That is not quite the context in which my comment was posited but for clarification Flanders & Swann on YouTube have "A Song Of Patriotic Prejudice" which no doubt all countries have an equivalent.
  20. Hello all , I did post this earlier but maybe it got lost; does anyone on here have any experience with the 104 tracker from Rewire Security on Amazon ? The description reads well, it's practical and highly affordable. I particularly like the, "designed in the UK and based in Bristol" label. After reading all these posts about thefts I am inclined to be a bit more pro-active Cheers Phil
  21. Well Richard, based on your model Essential service, 2 x major and 1x minor would be £1155.? And you paid 189 on top?
  22. Hi Julian as I suspected it didn't make the cut😕

  23. It's quite a mystery this unless it's some combination of Essential service? For clarity I have been offered Gold discounts on service plans but not Essential ones since they argue price is discounted already.
  24. I think things broadly double up so for example a 120k service is the same as a 60k so 200 would be same as 100k.
