  1. Valid point John, also how often do you anticipate going? I suspect a van rental is about £50 per day or about 40 visits to the tip. And it also means relatives or neighbours won't be knocking your door asking for help 🤠
  2. 🦧🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕🎉🎉🎉 Thanks Andy
  3. Despite it being in James Bond film I should have added
  4. Still don't understand 🤔 smart h2o has been around years, from Telford as I recall And The Toyota press release mentions it in full 🤭 This sounds like the address of the Mi6 building at Vauxhall being, technically speaking a State Secret which means you are breaking the law to mention it 🤡🤡🤡
  5. How come my post was altered and replaced with asterisks, anyone advise?
  6. SMAR****ER is a well established traceable marking method for all sorts of property
  7. Ah, Librae, Solidi and Denarii, coupled with Avoirdupois now THERE was a proper way of exercising the need for mental gymnastics John. Linas has become my replacement therapy 😉. In all seriousness I think he is well intentioned and lays down spirited chat designed to encourage equivalent responses. And I bite all the time 🤡
  8. You are of course Malc assuming that they had a conscious to begin with, I am increasingly convinced that some people never had one to clear. Hence when life, as you say, has a habit of sneaking up behind you with a piece of lead pipe they wonder what did I ever do to deserve this? And who can I blame that doesn't involve me🦧
  9. You make a great point regarding distraction so much so speed detectors are actually legal and encouraged because of that very point 👍
  10. Well John, as I recall the Highway Code came into effect in 1931, or just after half past seven when I went to the pub. After which I cannot recall the contents of most things 🍺 As to speed I am old enough to recall being in an Aston doing 132 all quite legitimately on the M1.
  11. Tovaritch Vladimir, thank you for the recommendation. And yes I am a habitual speeder in the same way I am a habitual breather, that is to say I find it impossible to avoid both all of the time. As individuals our lives are being increasingly burdened by rules and regulations that limit our lives more and more. Driving is one of the last great pleasures in life that recognises our individuality but very quickly will be subsumed by the states decrees. If you are content with this then so be it but many people like myself knew of better times. Oh and I have a RX450H mainly to carry my dog in comfort 🐕🐕🐕
  12. John, this is not good for the economy, its a way of depriving ordinary people of their ever dwindling discretionary income due to usury levels of taxation disguised as fines. And you get to a destination on time by leaving on time and not blaming it on speeding. But it's quite easy to see how we shall be the last generation of drivers with complete freedom of the road as such.
  13. You sound like an ex-smoker in the company of a smoker, or you are being paid huge fees for running a speed awareness course. 🤔 Around 1000 drivers a day are fined for speed related infractions and that by default can only be a tiny fraction of drivers who, at any single moment in time, are actually speeding so what is your proposal? Presumably to have a live recorder in the car. This seems to be the single area in law enforcement that the authorities are determined to pursue, burglary, shoplifting, smoking drugs however are too difficult as too many people are doing it! I don't suppose money has anything to do with it? I am still fascinated by seat belts being mandatory since following your logic if everyone drove more carefully then no accidents = no seat belts 👍. And the 10% myth is just that a myth, it is purely down to local regions whether or not they apply any form of leeway. But going 36 mph OVER the limit is clearly reckless and you are no doubt writing from Lourdes where you are seeking absolution for your dastardly deed 😱😱😱
  14. Fascinating article John, I note that one significant drawback is a redesign of the entire manufacturing process and that sounds like a biggy to me
  15. Good tip Brian, just bought a copy, for less than a fiver what's to lose? I particularly like the always on feature as I don't always remember to switch on TomTom or Waze. In terms of updates I think we all have a part to play in using the update database feature. If I fail with this one then perhaps Road Angel might be the best option?
  16. No Malc, it was Linus saying you can't have it both ways. I said that you haven't lived unless you have had it both ways, referring of course to English cream teas😉 A Scottish version would make both a third way and clearly making a political statement which would never do in the gentle undulating landscapes of Devon or Cornwall
  17. Well, if you don't believe in inequality then clearly you have a superior thesis to that of Charles Darwin and his theory of evolution. And that, empirically speaking means some form of mind conditioning often referred to as Religious. Socialism, Marxism, Anthopogenic Climate Change etc etc. And if you have not had it both ways you ain't lived Linas 😂. (I am of course referring to English cream teas and jam first or second!
  18. If I spent all my time watching an empty space then where would I find time to respond to your finely crafted, well reasoned, syllogistically sound argument 🤔
  19. Dear boy, a tax heaven is where you pay no tax at all! Therefore the dividends you are able to pay investors (your pension if drawing or fund if not yet) will be that much greater. But maybe the ideals of pursuing health, wealth and happenstance are contrary to your Marxist ideas? (that's Groucho Marx by the way 😎l
  20. At the risk of a blizzard of social opprobrium may I earnestly ask before you unleash your slings and arrows at insurance companies and other profit centered firms ask your pension provider where do they invest your money and do you insist on a return? 🤑🤑🤑
  21. I admit full responsibility 😎
  22. Some years ago I read a book by T. Scott Gross - Positively Outrageous Service. It should be mandatory for anyone in the customer facing environment. However it does not apply to Banks, because they do not see you as a customer but as a mere vassal who thinks you should be thanking them for allowing you to bank with them 🤡
  23. I went through the same psychosis 7 years ago and bought my Jaguar XKR 🤕 But you will get to a point where the bills and speed awareness courses bring you back into the real world but until then bathe in absolute bliss 🎉🎉🎉. By the way I presume your reg plate means Unidentified Flying Vehicle 🤔
  24. It is 100% true John, best thing is that the NatWest was literally next door to the Nationwide and I even asked them to walk next door with the money - no go, unbelievable lack of empathy for the situation. I closed the account next day and moved to nationwide who have been just excellent.
  25. Could not agree with you more John, I closed my account with NatWest after 50years! This was after their refusal to transfer a small amount over the phone to my late mother's account at Nationwide to help her pay her energy bill. To say I was apoplectic is an understatement 🤯 and to add salt I was later called by a snivelling wretch of an employee who effectively claimed it was my fault as I didn't have electronic banking!!! That was 5 years ago and my blood still boils at the thought.
