  1. I just got back from the pub Linas, I didn't see you there?
  2. A hero of mine Thomas Sowell, demonstrates some wise insights in his book Intellectuals and Society and demonstration of the effects of alleged elites on our democracy
  3. She looks a very well balanced and happy child 😎
  4. I do love the way you argue against yourself Linas😎 We both agree that the climate changes, everyone does, and always has done and always will. And we both agree it is unproven that it is a consequence of anthropogenic activity. Yet the world is awash not with Co2 (currently below optimal levels) but with people claiming to be an expert in climate yet having no qualifications in it, saying its down to humans and we have 9 years to fix it. If that's not pseudo science then I don't know what is! This is where we disagree. And I earnestly ask you to not read the Flat Earth Magazine (otherwise how would you know the content.) but read, for example the GWPF, Principa Scientific, The BMJ et al for sensible content
  5. London has a fantastic public transport system compared to the rest of the UK. TfL see no reason at all why you need a car hence punitive rates and conditions, eg new builds with zero parking, for having such an upstart opinion contrary to theirs. This attitude is now seeping into other regions such as Birmingham who do not have such a comprehensive public service. Travel further afield say to Derbyshire where I live we get a bus twice day 🤯. But as we are rural and seemingly remote with few votes our opinions don't count. But that's also OK because as a consequence I could not give one jot about any edits emanating from the high and the mighty
  6. Well argued Ed. Twenty odd years ago I was a champion of "location independent workers" made practical by advances in technology. It was a hard sell with employers being unconvinced employees could be trusted if they were off site and out of sight. Yet now there is a headlong rush! What's changed? One motivation I think is the wish to limit people's journeys by limiting their freedom to drive thus contributing towards the pseudo science of climate change. The combination of an EV and a Smart Meter at home raises interesting possibilities in this area. You mention forced decisions, I see this in the nonsense of face mask wearing where non-wearers are social pariahs and compromise the good of the many despite increasing evidence that they will do more harm than good. This will be replicated for drivers of ICE vehicles and will be far more vicious than drivers of 4x4s were subjected to a few years back if anyone can recall.
  7. Yes, Toyota have outsourced the management of the day to day warranty process to Assurant, a US based worldwide conglomerate. No doubt matching service level agreements to process efficiencies thereby cutting costs. So lexus will be the sole execution delivery mechanism but crucially Assurant will have the say about "does your claim meet warranty qualification" , this should be interesting going forwards as they seek to drive down costs
  8. Paul, there are documents somewhere that show what's included in a "full-fat" service schedule, Essential is no longer an option so no point comparing, however I would not enter into any service agreement until after June 1st. As I understand it the 60k/120k involves extended labour costs replacing the Iridium plugs. Couple of points that I have mentioned previously, Gold card membership will win you up to 20% off service plans, not warranty however, Barclay card now offers 0% finance over 28 months, get one then amortise your total bill into one readily affordable monthly cost with Section 75 cover. Finally a FSH has got to be a plus point when/if you sell 😎
  9. Crikey John if that were the case and as an ordinary bloke not sure if I could afford a Swiss roll let alone a ticket for a big six wheeler, scarlet painted 97 hp omnibus 😉
  10. My mini Schnauzer loves them but prefers smoked salmon 😅, regarding tax my XKR has a 4.0 litre engine and average 19 mpg yet my VED is 260 I think 🤔 way way more than my RX450H. And I for one am not complaining, well not loudly that is.
  11. Actually Malc the best ever are from Sainsbury, they cost £1.50 RIGA Gold. from Latvia. Stuff from tesco etc. come from morocco and in water, tomato sauce or sunflower oil so a different product actually albeit genetically similar if that makes sense?
  12. Lord Denning Master of the Rolls as I recall yet I cannot recall a picture of any sausage roll or Swiss roll he ever judged? 🤔
  13. Thank you John, yes, I believe these days using the term "in writing" is applicable to most modern forms of communication in addition to the traditional method. However I would venture to say an "old fashioned" letter tends to carry more weight than being one of a hundred emails received a day?
  14. Apologies Malc, should have been addressed to BigBoomer 🤡
  15. I do hope Malc that you know you are offending my recently bought tin of Waitrose finest sardines in olive oil? 😅
  16. Don't get fixated on the tyres Steve, plenty of places will sell you used tyres to change back to for little cost should you decide to send the car back. But I think you need to be clear in your own mind as to "what would make you happy"? Then put your case to the dealer in writing as to the current situation, how you wish it resolved and the consequences financial and otherwise if you are unable to agree a suitable conclusion. The "in writing" is vital and send multiple copies to key managers if it's a large dealership
  17. How did you pay for the car? Why did you change the tyres? How long is the Mot?
  18. Chaps, it's just a car! It's not a kidney dialysis machine that you need every hour 🤕, Distance selling regs plus a credit card gives you all the cover you need. Should it be the case that it doesn't meet your expectations then back it goes. Worst case is you have learned more than you knew before but critically tested those expectations against what is realistic for the price point you have in mind
  19. Agree with Graham totally, are you buying from jemca Toyota or Jemca lexus?
  20. Paul, look at Kevin Hunter on YouTube, the one on leverage, before you do anything else 👍
