  1. I note you use an article from the Guardian, 2014 in support of your case but have perhaps overlooked this article also from the Guardian in 2018 that led off by stating "On the 28 March this year, the scientific peer review of a landmark United States government study concluded; " that there is clear evidence” that radiation from mobile phones causes cancer, specifically, a heart tissue cancer in rats that is too rare to be explained as random occurrence". 🤔 Rather than a process I tend to think of science as permanent state of scepticism and accepting there is no such thing as "settled" science which, for example, the weather change zealots refuse to accept. Call me a cynic but I also tend to want to know who funds this myriad of "scientific papers" and is there an unknown agenda, witness the tobacco industry as a prime example. Actual "on the ground knowledge" as John referred to often has an uncanny knack of proving to be right over time. Over 55 years ago I recall reading of a treatment called acupuncture which the entire medical/scientific community thought hilarious bit like using leeches and maggots - and where are we now?
  2. I went through the same thought process over 2 years of pre-paid EW, but when combined with a concurrent service plan(discounted with my Gold Card) the amortised monthly cost is highly affordable especially when balanced against the risk of something going wrong with a car of my age.
  3. Good article Barry, the PSA test is notoriously inefficient, if anyone has the slightest concern ask/demand an MRI (3.0 Tesla) before a biopsy which is the preferred (cheaper) route. Go private if denied, these days its no longer wildly expensive 😎
  4. Yes, that's the truth of it, all these individuals have probably never filled up a car with their own money or paid tax, of any kind 🤑.
  5. Not so Len, There are really four truth values: true, false, indeterminate, and self-contradictory. The sentence “My coffee mug is green” is true. “It is now raining outside my office window” is false. “This sentence is true” is indeterminate. If it were true, it is logically consistent. If it were false, that is also logically consistent. So it is both true and false at the same time. “This sentence is false” is self-contradictory. It cannot be true, and it also cannot be false. And any hearsay from Williams or another party is just that and hardly the foundation for a correct summation of the facts or truth? 😎
  6. I have no idea how you interpret your chart but for healthy lives, 10, read healthy outcomes 🤔. I saw this chart (from the left-leaning Commonwealth Fund 2011) on the Insurance world. Com site it then goes on to analyse The Best Healthcare System in Europe ; Healthcare System in France Italian Healthcare System San Marino Andorra Malta Singapore Healthcare System Spain Healthcare System Oman Austria Japanese Healthcare System Norway Healthcare System in Portugal Monaco Greece Iceland Luxembourg Netherlands UK Healthcare System Healthcare System in Ireland Switzerland Healthcare System At 18th I wouldn't consider amongst the best, would you?
  7. Get with the programme John 😱, have you not heard of pre-quels? 😂
  8. Be having you appear in Dr Kildare soon😂 great news Piers, I recall what it was like 👍🤗
  9. Unless you buy from Richer Sounds where it can be 5/6 years!
  10. Crikey Len are you seriously asking this forum to believe a single syllable that emanates from the august bodies of Blair and Campbell? And I won't theorise from which part of the body they emanated from 😳 Thank-you for the etymology lesson most interesting and I also believe that the word is remarkably similar to one in Sanskrit 🤔
  11. Hopefully, and paraphrasing the inimitable Flanders & Swann, LOC members are moral, and they are good, and clever and modest and misunderstood. And all the world over, each forums the same, they've simple no notion of playing the game, they argue with moderators, they cheer when they've won. And practice beforehand which ruins the fun 😎
  12. As George W Bush famously opined "the trouble with the French is the don't have a word for entrepreneur" 🤣
  13. Marvellous Len, when skilful juxtaposition of English words can invoke such humour and admiration of the kind, "now why didn't I think of that"? Especially as you know each individual word but not in that sequence. One limerick I have always been envious of the author is; The was a young lady from St Paul, Who went to a newspaper ball, Her dress caught fire, Burnt her entire, Front page, sporting section and all. 🔥🤣🔥🤣🔥🤣
  14. 😂😂😂😂😊
  15. I believe John, the word cute is American English colloquial and student slang. Heaven for fend that I should use such a vernacular term in such illustrious company as your fine self 😱
  16. Acute observation Len 👍
  17. Spot-on Andy, for me it's a little like trip advisor reviews where I wrote recently regarding a hotel in Jersey and said "if you go with the intention of finding shortcomings no doubt you will so my advice is try Claridges or the George cinque (Bentley/RR) where you can find a better quality of problem" 🤗
  18. 🙋"What is morally wrong can never be advantageous, even when it enables you to make some gain that you believe to be to your advantage. The mere act of believing that some wrongful course of action constitutes an advantage is pernicious" Cicero 🙆
  19. Reading into colin/James this is two components, a small OBD reader that plugs into the car port, and an app (Torque) for your phone that connects to the reader via Bluetooth so all the data displays on the phone so not a HUD per se unless another projection device is involved 🤔
  20. Is that a proposition or assertion John 😜
  21. 🙋🤔Hang on a minute is this the same Shapoor who said, " " I suspect we are getting into the nitty gritty of something that is perhaps not relevant to the general aim of this thread, but ok, one more go. The line between proposition and assertion is a fine one that is very easy to confuse in any lengthy written discussion." Oh, and for the avoidance of doubt, a proposition may be true or false, an assertion is one you hold out to be true🙆
  22. Is "driving" the most appropriate term I wonder? Is it far too generic? Perhaps we need something more definitive of the experience? I suggest "stepping out". Other suggestions eagerly sought 🙋 As to you not knowing Witty that well I believe his mother made the same observation 🤣
  23. Well I for one Len have never heard, seen or read Dr Chris Witty bantering have you or anyone else? 🤗
  24. Well said Barry
