  1. Coming from Scotland Sonny I find anyone saying £100, AFTER TAX, is literally nothing amazing? I don't think even the people from Noble Grossart would agree 😱 I don't work for Costco btw but they have such a huge buying power, consider this, their turnover is greater than Shell, so it's no surprise that they can negotiate much lower prices with no sacrifice in quality not only in fuel but across the board, you should try it sometime.
  2. Very succinct expose Bernard, the misnomer is using the word "salesman",. They are no more than order takers and certainly not salespeople no wonder they are melting away like any other value less overhead. A true, professional salesperson would have spent hours upon hours learning every nook and cranny about his product and that of the competition, how else could he/she effectively advise the customer? It still mystifes me why any business would wish to add £50k+ to the overhead for no demonstrable return in the case of so called salesmen 🤔
  3. Sounds like a very fishy story to me James🤔 can't imagine for one moment they have Halibut in the Sea of Galilee, predatory life forms, yes, 😎
  4. Why James? What ghastly crime have you committed? 😂
  5. Thanks Len, been watching steven grundy on utube, fascinating stuff 👍
  6. I use Invisible glass Pete and yes it's good, together with 0000 wire wool. Got mine from Amazon with Prime 👍
  7. Very interesting post Len, as I said right at the start science is one of vigilant sceptism and I find informed opinions from any source always of value in steering my own "canoe" Thanks. Regarding relevance, well since cars are getting more loaded with technology ie Ev's who knows what the health implications will be? Right now I am learning more about the microbiome, can't see the connection as yet to Lexus but give it time 😂
  8. Now then Tel, as young people potentially have access to this forum do we really need to know about the state of your dongle? 😂
  9. I was referring to the later 2019 report " As a follow-up, NTP published an article in October 2019 that evaluated DNA damage in three regions of the brain, the liver, and in blood cells in rats and mice that were removed at an earlier timepoint from the ongoing 2-year toxicology study. DNA damage, if not repaired, can potentially lead to tumors. This work was also included in NTP’s published Technical Reports, but this study includes analyses of the data in the supporting information not included in the Technical Reports. NTP scientists found that RFR exposure was associated with an increase in DNA damage. Specifically, they found RFR exposure was linked with significant increases in DNA damage in: the frontal cortex of the brain in male mice, the blood cells of female mice, and the hippocampus of male rats. There are many factors that influence whether damaged DNA will lead to tumors. NTP plans to conduct additional studies to learn more about how RFR might cause DNA damage. Please see the FAQs below for more information about the specific studies and NTP’s cell phone RFR program." Now I assume Len you know more about this subject than most lay men like me but that sure sounds like an unequivocal pointer towards at the very least one of concern? As Robert Burns poem says," The best laid schemes o' mice an' men/Gang aft agley" 😎
  10. From the National Institutes of Health "Specific DNA sequence differences linked to diseases in humans often have counterparts in the mouse genome. Genes whose expression patterns are related in one species also tend to be similarly related in the other species. These findings validate the importance of using mouse models to study certain human disease"
  11. Such terminology does exist John - in America. It's a fully fledged offering from Lexus Financial Services not disimilar from the old EW. There's a pdf online from Lexus which gives a very detailed "what's covered". So maybe here is the 3 layer strategy - initial 3 year warranty - total cover no cost, lexus Relax, limited cover up to 100k - no cost, LEC, gold/platinum, up to 125k, extensive cover, additional cost.
  12. John, I can also recommend this chap. Michael Wilkinson Auto Electrical Ltd - Auto electrical solutions & car diagnostic services, vehicle starter motor & alternator specialists. Call 01283 855 043. He is near Burton upon Trent, and I have used him twice for alternator diagnostic and refurb for Saab and Jaguar over the years.
  13. People in Los Angeles would love to pay that 🤑. Live there, the most expensive US state with 3 different taxes, which is why there's a wholesale emigration to states such as Texas and Florida.
  14. Someone who knows GxD invented economists so they could, at last, have someone to laugh at. 😂
  15. I recall even going back as far as the late seventies the US - £ was always 1 for 1. So with their much higher pay rates being a consumer then was a much cheaper option. Over the years things like lower tariffs, cheaper shipping have helped a lot but the undeniable fact is the USA with a population of 300M+ and the highest disposable income in the world is the keystone market if you are a manufacturer, just look at the RRP of Lexus at current exchange rates 😱.
  16. Of course not Steve, it's your responsibility to get the best deal 👍No doubt your employer made a similar judgement call when paying you some of the highest amounts in the world?
  17. Q:what is the term for 50,000 accountants at the bottom of the ocean? A: A start! (same applies to lawyers 🤗
  18. If the agreement calls for a wider range of tariff free goods then I interpret that as being better for both sides which makes it different to that which existed previously. 😎
  19. Don't think that's the interpretation John. I read it as being, Thistle Group (PCP/finance ? ) provided a bundled deal including some form of extended warranty which may or may not be with Lexus . Lexus Cheltenham are saying if that's the case then the warranty contract is not their responsibility be it with Lexus or not. In other words washing their hands, which as I said is is really poor. I wonder if an accountant has been put in charge?
  20. Interestingly Steve, once our trade agreement with Japan, CEPA, was signed last October it allowed better trading arrangements than existed before in some areas than under the EU arrangements. So it may be the case that your part is now cheaper than it would have been prior to Brexit.
  21. Crikey Barry, a double whammy 😱 I guess it's a good time to consider other outlets? As to the warranty well that displays a poor attitude in my opinion, firstly, if a Lexus warranty? Then they might have offered to sort it for you, secondly, if they took your money as part of the initial transaction then its still their contract, not Thistle whoever they may be, presumably finance? But this raises a bigger question which I foresaw earlier this year, ie, with the Relax programme in play how interested will dealers be as the Warranty group will be hard task masters when it comes to reimbursement and opportunities to "pull the wool" gone.
  22. Is money an issue for you Geoff? If not then stay as you are for the time being would be my call. More problematic is I detect changing attitudes towards drivers over 70 with more intrusive health questions and re-tests both a distinct possibility 😕. The sun is shining, let's continue to make hay 😎
  23. Try running a business and see the cost just in overheads Steve 🤑
  24. That's a great "I never knew that" 👍 and possible quiz question 🤔
  25. Fabulous article Malc, just one teeney-weeney point, having paid into the system for more than 55 years I don't consider it to be FREE.
