  1. From today's papers "Charging points for electric cars will be preset to turn off for nine hours a day amid fears they could cause blackouts with the government pushing the switch from diesel and petrol. From May, every new charger will automatically not function at 'peak times' to ease the pressure on the national grid. There is also set to be a 'randomised delay' of up to 30 minutes if there is high demand from motorists". All designed to nudge you into charging at off-peak hours 😱. I wonder about all those company car drivers who chose EV because of lower BiK rates and actually need a car to perform their job?
  2. There are less than 5% fatalities per Billion miles travelled on UK roads but I am with you Malc that's enough of a risk to make me stay at home and never go anywhere until I can be assured there will never be another accident 🤯
  3. Super article Rob I am sure it will be of helpful to lots of people alongside the Ian hunter YouTube vid on leverage. 😎
  4. Update, just heard on the radio PCR tests may no longer be needed from October!!! Timing is everything they say. 😒
  5. Spot-on Doog, and you need to have a proof of purchase code to enter onto your PLF so trying to fiddle the system is a no-go. Regarding St Lucia I stayed at the Cap Estate a few years ago, great place, great people lots of mozzies mind. 😱. I just about remember a day trip on a pirate boat to Marigot Bay, mad, way too many rum punches that's how you drown 😎
  6. I spoke with my local dealership who commented "as yet we have seen no claim being made via Relax" so unable to state how functional the system is. However, intriguingly, there is the prospect of some form of warranty/Service extension beyond 10 years on the horizon? Beyond that I have no further information to share.
  7. Well Les, your account reminds me of the old adverts for Marlboro cigarettes, all the advantages but no downsides, unless of course you haven't smoked/driven them long enough for them to become evident. 😎
  8. For anyone who needs access to a reliable PCR testing company try Nationwide Pathology based at Lutterworth. Very easy to order on-line or over the phone, £40 for a day 2 Amber. I have no connection with the company but might ask LOC admin if they might get them on the Gold card discount page. They clearly offer discounts to someone as it's mentioned on the order page.
  9. I have always had a leaning towards inspirational/motivational quotes from much sharper observers on life than myself. Amongst my favourite ones is "happiness doesn't come from getting what you don't have but from wanting what you have and remembering why you wanted it in the first place" (I added the last bit 😊). To these favourites John I shall add your vignette of defining an idyllic almost semi-nomadic lifestyle where you ask very little from life but receive boundless gifts from it's generosity if you have the right attitude. And with apologies to your namesake, John Augustus Shedd, " A car in a garage is in a safe place, but that's not what cars were made for" Sante 😎
  10. Well John, one definition of appendage is - A part or organ, such as an arm, leg, tail, or fin, that is joined to the axis or trunk of a body. It's the tail or fin that's intriguing and if you were to lose such a physiological extremity would that make you a demi-John? 🤔😁
  11. Just to let you know Alex I have had the same problem recently occur, this has been investigated and will be resolved by fitting new steering column 😱. Fortunately it comes within my extended warranty otherwise its 2850😨.
  12. It's his head that needs filling not his boots 🤣
  13. I agree, 4.6 in hard second in my XKR but boy it's worth it 🤣
  14. Doesn't that broadly apply to all the Lexus range? 🤔
  15. Why would you not be? 🤣 Admiration is not a bad trait to have 😎
  16. That's one helluva sinkhole Anthony 😎
  17. Why wouldn't you get a brand new one over 3 years for considerably less? GFV is just that, a guarantee, not what it might actually sell for.
  18. Evening Chris, just because something has a label on it doesn't make it so 🙄 As from today's announcement if you are of working age you will be subject to greater levels of government extraction of your money to give to someone./something else since WWll. In principle this means you work and I eat because I can spend your money better than you can but lets call it fairness and equality. 🤔
  19. Cracking looking interior 😍
  20. A delightful compendium of 3 non-sequitors Malc and your use of "wot a load tosh" can only be testimony to the success of your "amazing state education ". 🤣. Firstly, your first para is so full of assumptions it's hardly worth commenting on so I won't. But I am sure parents of young people of a similar age may well do. Your second para makes my initial point entirely, be responsible for your own life don't let someone else live it for you. Thirdly, some months ago I wrote how Halfords had fitted 4 Goodyear Asymmetric's WITH my gold card and a running promotion which meant I paid way below any other supplier including Openeo. And it wasn't a 17 year old who did the job but there was one watching, I guess Malc we all had to start somewhere and couldn't get it all by some form of osmosis as we slept. 😎
  21. Nature or Nurture Malc? Don't know about you but when in gainful employment I strove to deliver the best and self-improvement was fundamental to that aim. But today we are inexorably sliding into a socialist centric society where the state/employer is expected to be responsible for all your every-day life expectations and if you fail to realise those expectations it is entirely someone else's fault and nothing to do with you guv.
  22. Yes Anthony, my experience is some employees haven't a clue and you have to insist
