Just quick question? What do you expect from petition? They will discuss it and what then? I hope you know that petitions literally doesn't mean anything?

If they would then we wouldn't be outside of EU.

    We? Who exactly are we?

I understand what you are saying Philip & of course I am concerned what will actually happen in the future.

I think the state pension maybe slightly different because quite a number of people have actually paid extra in to make their pension up, I feel that would be hard to take away without a number of court case actions.

The WFP has not actually been earnt as such & was gift from the government.

The State Pension as defined in law is a benefit not an entitlement, therefore can be changed /withdrawn at any time. The fact that you paid in to increase your income is neither here nor there. But I equally agree like the WASPI women should go on for a while. 👍

I still stand by my original post that there are a lot of pensioner that do not need the winter fuel payment, but agree that there are probably more that do.

There should be a reasonable cut off level where you don't get help & that is what the government should put in place, not base it on pension credits etc.

Set a limit of £25k say & no one with an income of more than that gets it. That is just a random figure plucked out of the air to make a point.

Steve, this will come back to haunt you😱. Removing the WFA has nothing to do with saving money. When the real savings are netted out it will be derisory. It is far more sinister, it is purely a test of the countries reaction and resolve to the idea of means testing any "benefit" of which the State Pension is one. This is already in play with child benefit and accepted. Imagine a similar scenario whereby your total pension income exceeds X, say 25k then your state pension element reduces by £1 for every Y amount over that. No doubt the Marxist mindset of some on here will see this as being totally consistent with removing WFA? Along with the madness of Intergenerational unfairness as a legitimate argument !!! It is also clear these measures are designed to appeal to the "yoof" (votes at 16) by robbing the old and giving it to the "yoof" thereby saying we are the good guys vote for us.

Okey, let's think about it hypothetically...

    1. You get into hospital and either there are no junior doctors or there are junior doctors, but they have not got their 200k training (also it is debatable that their training is worth that)... and you die.

    or

    2. You get into hospital and there are junior doctors who are trained, but get literal peanuts instead of salary... and you survive.

WHO benefits from this? Doctors who earn peanuts or you?

What is beneficial in that training for the person getting it if not the salary? Being trained to do job well is not a benefit if that job does not pay well. It is benefit to the society - sure... but what is benefit for them?

Look - I 100% agree, NHS is completely broken, whomever we should blame is not relevant at this point, but I hope we both agree that system does not work, it does not work for society (waiting times) it does not work for doctors (shaite pay). It needs fixing, but it is not the fault on junior doctors... also - why the hell some stupid footballer is earning £46 million a year for kicking stupid ball, but people who actually matter, like doctors and teachers, and nurses and, fire fighters gets crumbs? We can argue that as a society we are rotten from the core, our values are rotten, not you specifically, but there is more fundamental problem when we can't even pay decent salary for a doctor and 200k training is apparently an issue, but some useless ball kicking brain dead kid gets more money per hour, than the entire doctor training costs...

And here I am not trying to imply that I know the solution, or that solution is obvious, I just see the problem and also it is strange that from all wrong in the society the doctor training was the thing which you thought was not fair, despite the fact that they don't even personally benefit from it... unless they quite and go contracting or emigrate (which every sane person MUST do).

You sound like Kamala Harris 🙂

For Motability, recipients trade in getting a cash benefit for a private vehicle. It doesn’t cost the government or taxpayers more (unless you argue the favourable VAT treatment is a cost). Car companies negotiate with Motability to get their vehicles in the scheme - Motability are the UK’s largest fleet operator - and have to offer discounts effectively in exchange for volume. Recipients will pay a larger deposit to get more expensive vehicles (typically).

There are elements to criticise - the huge reserves and some high executive pay - but personally I think the scheme is a great example of meeting a need without needing huge government subsidies.

Thank you Al, but just take a minute to look at the underlying numbers. As of 2021 and paid for by UK taxpayers - the average staff salary is 64k,twice the UK average with the highest being 7 figures. If you are in receipt of the highest allowance, £75 per week you can get a brand new Jeep SUV inc maintenance, breakdown, tyres and insurance at no cost to you but not so for the average taxpayer who can only dream of such an arrangement. The scheme makes £520 million in profit yet pays no tax, what other business that turns over £4bn can say that? Lots more interesting numbers and information in their annual accounts. 👍

Totally Agree with Your Comments.....!!!! I Think Personally ALL pensioners should get The WFA Irrespective Of Income..Will They apply The same Ruling to Disability benefits For whom Many People Rely on And where does it stop There ? I feel sorry for the Small Business man Or Woman who Is solely dependent on Local Trading dynamics..The likes of Amazon are forcing them out of business Whilst at the same time depriving the country Out Of Tax revenue Which ultimately affects inflation and the Economy....Continuity and Change are a Social Science fact But If More money is not Injected into The NHS It won,t be on its Knees It will be Flat on its Back...Just my opinion of course..!!!

In place of /in addition too why I we funding the Mobility scheme that costs Billions? A scheme that allows for a Lexus or Range Rover? 🤔

Yes there is so little done to encourage entrepreneurship in this country any more - it's all about how much can be squeezed out of those least able to resist aka micro and small businesses - and dream up more and more obscure tax rules that are difficult if not impossible to defend against (IR 35 being one). The Conservatives had lots of opportunity to put right some of those wrongs but were not interested in small businesses seeing them as an easy cash cow rather than an investment and aren't therefore much better than Labour in that respect. I'm starting to wind down now and will eventually retire. Really not sure I'd try to start a business again if I was in the same position as I was a couple of decades ago. My brother started a business about the same time as me and has recently sold it and it was such a huge relief for him too when he could finally step away from it.

There's no support now for those willing to take a risk and create wealth - just more and more people working in the public sector ringing up liabilities there will be no one left to pay for. And I have some of my family working in the public sector (linked to defence of our realm) and TBH I've now said to them they might as well get what they can as working in the private sector is becoming a hiding to nothing.

You should read Intellectuals and Society by Thomas Sowell to get the real insight into how we got to where we are now. 🙁

I have a plan with Emac, which I took out when I bought mine three years ago. The salesman gave me a copy of the offer which included four annual services for £41.75 each month, which I took out before inflation struck. Next service is due August.
Each time the car is serviced, there is no charge for collection and returning it to me.

Lexus always contact me to advise when my service and MOT (combined) is due.

Always ensuring that I have the car serviced and MOT’d in plenty of time, I rang Lexus to arrange a suitable date for collection. The lass on the reception advised me that it would be £55 for the collection service. I told her that I’d never been charged for this service since they’d been servicing the car. Her reply was, ‘it must be in your contact, then.’

To be honest, I’d never received the terms of my contract from Emac so I recently contacted them. I received the terms, which basically covers what is included and what is not. Nowhere in the contract does it include free collection as part of the deal. The monthly payments cease in December, this year and I still have one more service in 2025.

The thing about these contracts is, I’ve got peace of mind and know that the hybrid battery is under warranty for each year as long as Lexus check it over and the car is serviced by them.

I doubt that I will ever get such a good deal from Lexus these days. The car’s still only on 45k miles and drives just as good as when I bought it. I certainly won’t be changing it. In fact it will probably be my last car at my age. Sad to say.

Don't despair! Call or drop into see the After Sales Manager, they determine free collection not EMAC. Ask the manager about an extended Plus Warranty if you want peace of mind and Service packages, they will be happy to take your money off you. Alternatively buy a HHC for about £50 every year up to 15 years old to warrant the Battery

I don't doubt for one minute that the revised policies with taxing cars in all sorts of ways, novel or not, will be to the fore to enable more deserving causes to be paid for ...........  the 35% pay rise for Junior Drs to name but one   😂

Car owners are to be clobbered whichever method the financiers wish ......  and I don't think they'll be hiding it either .......  but of course they'll blame the previous Govt ..  of course   Why not ! All this politiking is a joke ..  just so long as they get their hands deeper into our pockets .......  after all, we can afford it, we're Lexus owners 🤢

And EV owners will of course be " fair game "   ..................  as will everfyone 😇

Ah, Malc, how freely and and willing you are to spend other people's money, 35%, 35%🤯. What a precedent that will set! And it's not just lexus owners, it's all car owners, house owners, savings and pension owners. When the latter is liquified to fund extravagant ideology welcome to another variant of PPI.

.....but according to Lexus UK, this did not effect RX models destined for EU Countries nor the UK.  How can that be given there's no difference to RX models, only to the standards by which each country operates for safety?

The answer it seems is that issues were limited to some "batches"  with the anti collision/BSM equipment and on pedestrian safety testing, so the article wasn't being fully honest as not all vehicles nor vehicle years of those models were affected.  I was assured that all models being imported into the UK are fully compliant and that there is no issues with the electronic safety aids for UK customers.

But this affected loads of Toyota models hence the huge financial hit. I wonder how much we're actually told? For example United Health Care own PKB being promoted via the NHS. In February in the USA they reported a data breach possibly affecting up to a third of all Americans! But no mention of the UK?

  18.

This hasn't received much attention other than a 15B hit to Toyota value

    From Fortune magazine

"Through an internal investigation prompted by a regulator mandate, Toyota found it had not performed safety tests as certification required in five cases related to vehicles including the Crown, Corolla, and the Yaris Cross. In one case involving the Lexus RX, the company had submitted falsified data to meet safety standards and submitted it for certification."

  19. Good morning 😊

Can anyone reccomend a decent key case? I use one but it's rather bulky. In winter not a problem as you tend to have lots of pockets but come the summer that's different. Needs : 1 x Lexus key, 2 x house keys.

    Thanks

The video was interesting but I like to look at the comments as well. It seemed a bit butt clinching to use steel wool or wire wool as we call it but the comments seem to be favourable. 000 or 0000 grade. Not sure if that's sold here or not. I was wondering if using the soap pads that we use for pans etc would work. Glass is hydrophobic but the rainx is supposed to make it bead off faster.

Ive seen a lot of threads on this topic.
Ive just purchased a new 12v starter battery for our RX450h 2019 from Lexus. In fact its badged as a Toyota the Part number is L28800-YZZZA for the sum of £121.99 in Vat.
You can for this yourself from within the boot. However please note:
If the boot is a power boot it will not shut after changing the 12v battery, without manually applying pressure on the boot lid and closing ,manually. The auto open options both on the key and within the car will not operate as you will have an yellow warning on the dash “PKSB” Parking Support Break Function none operational (car symbol with a star above tailgate and a triangular object behind the tailgate).

If this happens then close the boot manually with care and take the car for a 2/5min drive and it will clear which will re-enable all the boot operational functions.

You may have other personal preferences in the car set-up to also re-set to default however simply re-set as you prefer. Alternatively try to keep a 12v supply to the vehicle while you change the 12v Battery.

Ohh additionally i read that Lexus only offer a 1yr warranty, however on purchase i was advised it has 3yrs.

    Hope this helps.

Great tip, lexus parts direct are also competitive

Thanks , True but the price for the next service of approx £700 has made me think twice!

As always depends on ones attitude towards risk. I pay £54 pm for an extended warranty plus cover which I believe to be an affordable "insurance like" cover. March 2025 will tell me how good my bet was. The major service is a big pill to swallow but iridium plugs won't need another change for years so £1300 ish will give you cover for say two years unless something untowards happens in year two. Irrespective the HHC is a must have.

  23. 50 minutes ago, Jagman said:

Had my 10year old Rx450h now for a year, so lexus warranty now finished.

Absolutely faultless for 7000 miles except for a type pressure sensor failing so very pleased with it now I’ve got used to it.

On 64000 miles now so servicing myself , have changed oil / filter ,front and rear transmission fluids etc. which were suprisingly easy.

Really just leaving a spark plug change which does not look too easy.

I would be grateful for any tips from people who’ve successfully done it.

    Thanks

Extended Warranty Plus is still available to you. And the £59 hybrid check covers your Battery for one year.

Of course getting customers on to PCP or HP plans is a good earner for dealers.  So it’s prevalent industry wide.

When I was buying my Lexus I made it clear that I didn’t require any financing. However, that didn’t stop a staff member elbowing the sales rep aside to ask if he could introduce me to their Purchase Plan.  I said he could do that provided he clearly understood that I wasn’t going to use it

So we then had a perfectly affable fifteen minutes or so - right up to the point where he tried to close the sale and I said ‘No’.  His attitude then became distinctly icy and I had to remind him that I had made my position very clear from the start.

I haven’t seen him again and I accept that it can be a tough way to make a living.  My criticism is not that he tried, but that he was somewhat unpleasant when he failed - as he had been warned would happen.  Every other member of staff I’ve encountered has been exemplary.

Sack the salesman I say 👏, what a waste of everyone's time and money! Yet another example of demonstrating misguided language claiming you are an entity referred to as a "customer" when in fact you are an impediment to their goals or a problem in other words!
