  1. Well Oddly enough Bernard it's from the Greek meaning Victorious. And in that it fits perfectly. For days we have heard, yet again, forecasts of being visited by the four men of the apocalypse. Yet, yet again, yes it's strong winds, and yes it will cause damage, its nature you can't control it. But it's not the end of the world as we know it, regrettably there are individuals out there trying to persuade gullible individuals otherwise.
  2. Online etymological source 👍
  3. Not so fast 🤔. Tire late 15c., "iron plates forming a rim of a carriage wheel," probably from tire "equipment, dress, covering" (c. 1300), a shortened form of attire (n.). The notion is of the tire as the dressing of the wheel. The original spelling was tyre, which had shifted to tire in 17c.-18c., but since early 19c. tyre has been revived in Great Britain and become standard there. Rubber ones, for bicycles (later automobiles) are from 1877. A tire-iron originally was one of the iron plates; as a device for separating a tire from a wheel, by 1909.😎
  4. I am actively considering a Powerwall/vault /Sonner with solar panels installation. Has anyone on here experience of such a config? Appreciate any comments.
  5. Not allowed I'm afraid Piers. Reason? Moaning about the weather if you are a Brit you will know is intrinsically woven into your very psyche therefore not an external event you can legitimately witter on about 😉. However, if not a Brit and you are moaning about the weather it's clearly cultural appropriation 😎.
  6. Not very it seems 😂. John Harvey Jones is nearer the mark. Lord Digby Jones(who coincidentally I've known for 40 years) was head honcho at the CBI.
  7. Sustainability 🙄. It's a term I don't fully understand but nevertheless it's everywhere. Bit like recycling, since everything ultimately is reduced from whence it came what's the point?
  8. Tyres dear boy tyres 👍
  9. As long as she is the main driver 🤔
  10. How right you are tovarich 💂
  11. Still in your Pj's Malc? 🤣. The 75k wasn't anything to do with football but merely a way of mentally grasping the sheer scale of the vandalism for those people who think an acre is the effect of being hit in the nether region 😭. And sequestration of Russian assets would be really welcomed by all the UK investors in Russia such as JCB. I don't think your application to the diplomatic service is progressing very well 😎
  12. Even the biggest "shed" would be dwarfed by the enormity of these proposals. The West Cottam one for example is 2,800 acres 😱. Imagine a pleasant run out to countryside with mile upon mile of solar panels! Biggest issue is the depletion of agricultural land meaning more food imports via the English Channel - good luck with security of supply there. And what about all the people who work on the land, supply and service the tractors and machinery, the processors of the produce from the land and so on. This is inevitably due to the madcap "net zero agenda" so first thing is to write to your MP outlining your concerns if enough people do it we just might get a pause in the destruction of the countryside. 👍
  13. Definitely, the threat of involving a Bank or CC company tends to add impetus and focus 😎
  14. I agree, this definitely smacks of sleight of hand. Personally I would bring it to the attention of the dealer principal. Also how did you pay? If by card you certainly have scope there.
  15. At the risk of you already knowing this Malc when I renewed in January I went via the Martin Lewis site, it came up with Tescos bank via confused. I then went through the reviews to satisfy myself that they are up to it. I then joined Topcashback and signed up via them - nett due £230. 04 for 5k miles 😎
  16. Not that us Phil's should stick together but I think you raise an entirely legitimate point. If as a previous poster noted "I get running electric and trying to improve air pollution in cities and towns etc" then by default you must seek out the best combination of inputs to get optimal outputs ergo less pollution etc etc. But I am more bemused by the contention that if you can afford £60k that money should not be a consideration, presumably that also applies to, insurance and the cost of financing £60k be that own money or third party. As I am not in a position to splash out such a sum, if only, I am not envious of others who can. Rather the opposite, if we didn't have people like you there wouldn't be a company devoted to the pursuit of excellence. 😎
  17. Whilst the "free" Relax warranty is not as all-encompassing as the original warranty it remains a pretty unique service proposition. I fully expect your problem to be fully covered however not necessarily through the Relax programme but because it was there at the point of purchase and that's a decision the garage can make and not a time-delaying third party . I don't know about others but I would be very disappointed if no courtesy car can be found? I mean how hard can it be to rent one or take one from a staff member. I am assuming the car is in an unusable position or that driving it may cause further damage 😎
  18. That may well be the case in that specific instance however the article spoke of this happening all over so more of a general comment
  19. Hope you noticed this? Article on people getting tickets in all sorts of places such as McDonald's, apparently signs specifying max times have not been updated. Some of the penalties issued have been for as much as £120 at certain service stations and public car parks. And the owners argue that the current time allotted for parking in the spaces doesn’t allow for a full charge of electricity for their vehicles. One owner, James Warren from Birmingham told The Times: "I found somewhere to charge in a hotel car park [in Weybridge]. It took around 45 minutes, then I paid on my app. "I was aghast to receive an £80 fine from Parkingeye, saying I had parked in the hotel's car park without permission.”
  20. And not just homes Shahpor, would you go on holiday abroad without insurance? Or against theft, increasingly common that some sections of society think what is yours is theirs without having put the original effort in. Or life assurance, without it leaving your kin financially strapped. And so it goes on
  21. As they only do 8 miles a year not a bad risk 🤣
  22. Thank-you
  23. Don't you mean "as kin" not akin? 🤣
  24. That's an interesting start John, what's the source, wind, hydro?
