  1. Try looking at Hoya En-route 👍
  2. Always intrigued how certain words provoke different images! For me - U2 = Gary Powers, Joshua Tree = Yucca Brevifolia, and your choice of intermezzo, that's a toughie 🤔, if I agree I know I will chased by a duet of Peral Fishers and a large number of Nabbuco's Hebrew slaves 😎
  3. I think the full statement Brent is - never assume as it can make an ***** out of U & ME 🤯🤣
  4. The expression alternative facts evokes Newspeak, the language of the fictional ruling party’s propaganda in George Orwell’s 1984. In the book, Newspeak leads to doublethink, which is when a person holds two contradictory beliefs in their mind at the same time, and accepts them both. An example of doublethink from 1984 is the idea that “war is peace.”
  5. I would have thought that by now Ed you realised facts, indisputable evidence etc are not in themselves totally relevant. What really matters is how you "feel" that is the new truth. 🥳
  6. Eloquently presented Len. 👏. Like you, from time to time, I feel compelled to go into bat but you do sometimes wonder why? 😎
  7. Mine says - "things that will be handy even if I never use them"
  8. You make me sound in an earlier life I must have known Leonidas 🤣. In reality it wasn't that big a deal. Looked at no end of YouTube vids and articles about the car. Looked at the owner reviews and the extraordinary level of support from Lexus and the dealer network. Looked at the total cost of ownership numbers and to clinch it - the LOC site. As the Greeks say - Ti na kanome (what else could I do?)
  9. Oddly enough Len my "carefully thought out" method of acquisition was even more extreme! Having decided the need for an SUV for my dog I researched the options thoroughly thereby never considered Lexus! Then one day read that the RX was the most popular brand in the USA - time to widen my knowledge then. Looking at various affordable ones for sale I happened on one that had just come in the Lexus dealer, Newcastle. It was a Sunday, so I thought I'd try phoning. I did and spoke with a really helpful manager and bought it there and then. Bearing in mind it was lock down and I had never been in a lexus and never even seen a RX 😱. So when I eventually travelled to pick up the vehicle on first sight my first thought - bl**dy hell its big 😱😱😱. But it's been a great buy and would reccomend to anyone. I paid for it on my credit card so had the appropriate safeguarding measures in place and cashback 🥳🥳🥳
  10. Not quite 8000 BC but Aristotle, when speaking of logical fallacies devised the syllogism which enables the most simple of minds to understand arguing from the particular to the general is a no-no 😎
  11. Steady on malc, using such coarse language isn't like you 🤔. Speaking French I mean of course 🤣.
  12. I wasn't aware there were any snowflakes on here 🤣
  13. Do you mean Libra Malc? 🤣
  14. You are slightly missing the point my friend but in support of your pursuit of pedantics English vocabulary tends to use the term mathematics or maths 👍
  15. I deliberately placed this under the joke topic, because if you didn't laugh you would cry 😭. Here we have californians up in arms over having the most expensive Shell V power in America by far - 91 pence a litre 😱. This, in a State where the average pay is around $90k!
  16. Well it is Roman after all 😁. You would have to be DIM not to know that 🤣
  17. So very very two Ronnie's humour. The perfect crime was committed last night, when thieves broke into Scotland Yard and stole all the toilets. Police say they have absolutely nothing to go on🤣
  18. Are you promoting some form of moral equivalence?
  19. Not quite sure why you posted these here and to what end? 🤔
  20. Excellent, but still raises questions Herbs.
  21. I am sure most people are aware of changes coming but not perhaps effective today and very wide ranging : this is an article from Which. "It now covers ‘any device capable of interactive communication, even if that functionality is not enabled at the time’. This also covers devices that are in ‘airplane’ or ‘flight’ mode. Here’s a list of the phone uses that fall foul of the new law: Illuminating the screen Checking the time Checking notifications Unlocking the device Making, receiving, or rejecting a telephone or internet based call Sending, receiving or uploading oral or written content Sending, receiving or uploading a photo or video Utilising camera, video, or sound recording Drafting any text Accessing any stored data such as documents, books, audio files, photos, videos, films, playlists, notes or messages Accessing an app Accessing the internet Read more: https://www.which.co.uk/news/2022/03/changes-to-mobile-phone-driving-laws-come-into-force-this-week/ - Which? The "any device" is interesting as this will now cover smar****chs which I personally find very useful 🤔
  22. Love the charity shop one
  23. Super!
  24. I've always been intrigued by the originators of Christmas cracker jokes - now I know 🤣
