  1. You may also look at martyn lewia and current chat about car interest payments being bigger than PPI!
  2. Just one more thought please. My daughter will shortly reach a monumental birthday one I personally thought I would never see as a callow youth but clearly did and am still here many years on! But what to buy her that's memorable and not sit in a drawer alongside the rest of watches, jewellery expensive pens etc? But a plate now that fits the bill in all sorts of ways , can't be lost or stolen, very personal and memorable every day . Better still it may even appreciate in value and can be passed on out side of IHT win win

    Goodbye

Oddly enough just listened to ad for Volvo on Classic FM. Very attractive female Scandinavian voice, wonder why it wasn't Mandarin? 😎
  4. Spectacular video, what a prized possession! But there's also shape. And after almost 24 years mine still shouts crikey! Well it does to me but then I'm biased but only massively 😎
  5. More ho ho ho;read recently if you still have any crackers left 😎 A group of chess enthusiasts checked into a hotel after a large chess tournament. Rather than going straight to their rooms, the group stayed together in the lobby discussing the day’s events and their recent victories. After an hour, the manager of the hotel entered the lobby and asked them to disperse. “But why?” they asked. The manager answered, “Because I can’t stand chess nuts boasting in an open foyer.”
  6. Thanks Jon, where did you source them from please?
  7. This is an interesting one, I can buy from the US site with no problem. I think it's worthwhile to ask for resolution ideas from Amazon. On the first enquiry you went through scripted first lines probably in the Philippines kindly ask your situation be escalated. Bearing in mind I suspect amazon are wary of any forms of money laundering even if way below £10k threshold
  8. Shouldn't that be wine with an h? 😅, Merry Christmas to one and all and may 2024 give us many more opportunities to be thankful for what you have 🍷
  9. I was with Tesco £340 last year new quote £620 😱went via Topcashback /confused/gocompare etc, best quote £444 via a broker called GoSkippy and cashback so sort of acceptable. Did the same with house insurance.
  10. Me too 😛🍷😛🍷😜
  11. The fundamental issue is there's far too much money trying to find a home. Try selling a George III mahogany writing bureau in Liberia for other than firewood. 🙁
  12. I know I've mentioned this before but you don't "own" the number. What this means is in the event of a write-off, heaven forfend, you will lose the number unless you arrange to cover it via your insurance company. 👍
  13. Didn't the majority of Palestinian people choose H over the alternative in their elections? And didn't these same people cheer in the streets on October 7th? And didn't these same people say nothing when millions upon millions of tons of aid funded building materials were diverted to construct 800 kilometres + of tunnels?
  14. Almost Bill but you're confusing your as with your us 😊
  15. What, 513 %, didn't surprise you? 513%! I'm astonished.
  16. Part of an article From today's daily express that makes disturbing reading; According to LV= General Insurance, the car brand that has faced the biggest increase in thefts is Lexus, with the number of reported thefts rising by 513 percent between September 2021 and 2023. Other brands that are typically targeted by thieves include Toyota, with thefts increasing by 103 percent, Hyundai, rising by 81 percent and Kia, which rose by 76 percent.
  17. Thanks Mike but didn't work for me. I have spent ages and ages getting quotes from all over but currently going through Topcashback has given me the best deal at £440. Here's the story so far - Currently Tesco 306 - new 640 Aviva 771, Sainsbury's 741, Confused 492 Hastings 505. Oh and my house insurance currently £140 via Hastings up by 41%, no claims changes etc. Tried my bank Nationwide £480 🤯Cheapest find so far £160. Thats living in a semi-rural low risk Derbyshire village hate to think about city centres 😱
  18. This may interest you ; latest DWP figures show, A staggering £64.3billion went into employee pensions in 2022. Employers contributed £38.6billion, workers added £18.3billion while tax relief on those contributions totalled £7.4 billion. So Employees not doing so bad after all 😊
  19. Numerous? How many exactly? Yes, the Maxwells of this world grab headlines but of the other 5 million+ they do right by their employees unless of course you are Arthur Scargill masquerading as Stephen? 😎😎
  20. It's only advantageous when and if you make money. People are quick to want to share in the profits but oddly enough don't wish to share if there are losses. Success has many fathers but failure is always an orphan.
  21. I salute your endurance 😎
  22. We are I think at a tipping point regarding taxation both direct and indirect. In the press last week - how it cost you £100 less to fly to Slovakia and return with a sleeve of cigarettes than to buy one here - utter madness, not that I smoke. So don't be too hard on people trying to own and run a business, there are huge "compliance" costs that no one gets to see but have to be covered somehow. I always recommend people to start up and grow a business to fully appreciate the saying - it's easier to throw a brick through a window than it is to make one. 🙂
