Ok today at Lexus Re service and mot. Conflicting news so Lexus say Re (a 3rd party mecanic telling me I must change all the discs) discs I have 8mil on read and 4mill on fronts shes said the rears have 70% left so don’t need changing front or back but the bad news is spark plugs are not part of my service plan so they will give me a quote and I pay seperatly and also 12volt battery I requested to change current battery was going to fail mot not enough power output so good thing I changing anyway today.

Loaner car given to me for a day in comparison to my other past cars and Gs 450h mk4. 220 BHP, the naturally aspirated 2.5 Litre 16v Inline 4 petrol engine with electric assistance accelerates this IS 300h to 62 mph in 8.4 seconds and on to a maximum speed of 125 mph I’m now glad I didn’t buy this model given the chance as I find the is 300h as someone who is 6’3 height to be not as snug or spacious as my Gs my left leg hugs the centre console. Originally I was deciding between a Is or Gs and choose the Gs 450h f sport. Also this spec has no mark leverson system and the difference is night and day the mark lev system is a must for audio connoisseurs like myself. It’s the first ever car (I’ve got it on my work truck) I’ve used with active radar cruise control and I loved it wish I had this on my Gs I just have normal cruise control. The is made me feel relaxed knowing the car was keeping its distance by itself wish was nice experience I didn’t test what would happen if there was a stopped car in front on me though. Acceleration is decent but I found in normal mode I was just plodding along tortoise/Sunday driver I had to have it in sport mode the entire time to get any serious sensation of normal spirted speed I’m used to. The infotainment system felt a step backwards bearing in mind my cars 2012. I found the menus bland smaller to read and the physical selector I found i did not like at all it’s similar to the Gs joystick but very very different and I got frustrated the stick was super stiff I did not find it immediately intuitive on how to navigate. On the Gs the stick moves free like a joystick and whatever you need to do you just think and do it where as the is was not so it requires you to twist the circle joystick at various times to go up and down various menus even selecting music left and right was awkward. It seems like they buried the random folder button in a sub menu but if there’s a simpler way to select random play then someone can correct me. The Gs random play option is right infront of you while your in the audio music playing screen which is great and simple! The steering whee controls I also found where not great for me as I have big hands and big fingers on my Gs volume etc have big simple and obvious buttons for their usages and their purposes which I love which I did not find on the is with the tiny wee buttons and several of them on the is 300. Visibility looking out was fine I note the centre mirror seemed extremely Xl large vs any other car ive driven which was good. The thing I hated the most was the pedal physical handbrake near to the brake. Now to be fair I’ve never in fifteen years of driving driven a car with this so alien to me. I struggled to get my head round it and didn’t like even using it. So at red lights I just physically moved the gear stick to park every time instead vs my Gs which uses a no brain work auto electric park break at red lights and when stopping and I don’t have to touch the gear stick at all unless stopped for a few minutes (maybe five minutes?) the car then forces you to put into park physical moving gear stick as a safety feature. The seats where non electric and the side mirrors u have to physically press a button inside the vehicle EVERY TIME to fold them in when you park vs my auto fold in mirrors on my Gs when you lock the car. I do love the look of the car from outside it looks fast and expensively prestigious. I do this review with a pinch of salt as I know this is a base model without all the trimmings of a highly speced model.

This maybe a silly question but I’ve just bought this Jack as missing on the car when bought. Does anyone have a instructions or video tutorial on how to correctly Jack up the car? Jack points etc…. I recall years ago with my Audi A4 I used the cars boot Jack as I was lifting the car up I heard a horrible crunching/cracking noise and in fact I’d crushed the under body structure a bit so I want to avoid that this time with the Lexus.

Ok I had a roller coaster day. Garage called me told me they can’t fit the pagid discs on because my car a *special car* the brakes the we’re gonna order (£700) where for non f sport and my ones are bigger discs need f sport discs. So I thought ok let me take a gamble and call Lexus Sidcup for a quote they quoted me all discs and pads £700 all in wow so long story short I’m taking it to Lexus to do brakes next month so a happy ending in the end.

copy and paste from my thread. just researching pagid discs vs lexus. " 4) Is the KILLER when I'm on the motorway breaking at speed there's a slight vibration. He said reason being front break discs are slightly wobbling and the rear discs are wobbling so much will fail be an MOT failure. He said he I really need four new disc breaks he gave a rough quote for four pagid brand discs which I've heard the name they seem ok he said Mercedes use them for around £600+ ish and for four OME Lexus discs £1000+. either way this going to kill my bank account dead 😪 I'm more mad I spent £500 on AA warranty with the car and unable to use it for anything at the moment feel like warranty is useless I generally never warranty anything in my life. Ok update cars been in the garage since Monday and I've got an update report. He said he ran it through a pre MOT check. 1) The constant mechanical noise while moving was caused by a air tire sensor lose freely spinning around inside the front nearside tire. Sorted 2) loose heat shield fixed back on. 3) rear exhaust had been in a knock caused it to be bent back, with previous owner(s). Sorted. 4) Is the KILLER when I'm on the motorway breaking at speed there's a slight vibration. He said reason being front break discs are slightly wobbling and the rear discs are wobbling so much will fail be an MOT failure. New observations Re my mk4 gs 450h. Two things one minor and the other maybe major 🙈. with my previous car Audi A4 when I had the 220 watt Bose system going full blast none of the windows vibrated. Ive noticed with my Lexus on high or highest volume at first I thought it was just the drivers glass a bit lose and needs tightening up in the frame as it vibrated a lot (I have bass set to 2+) but after a little testing I can say for sure both front glasses vibrate I’m guessing this normal and not a fault? Maybe something to do with design or tech like slow close windows or a Lexus thing? Now onto the possible Mayor issue 😪. I’m hoping this mite be normal but I suspect not. Owning it for seven months now I always play my music high from move move off so I don’t know if this like this from beginning but I’ve noticed recently moving off with music off and electric hybrid mode crawling or driving slow. It makes mechanical click clack sound over an over again constantly. I think it stops when I get up to a good road speed. When I reverse back the electric motor gives off a loudish continuous hum maybe normal or related to the click clack noise/electric motor issue? Part of my dilemma is I’ve booked a week annual leave to coincide with my mot and service which I’m doing at Lexus Sidcup in London in case they find anything which I do with all my cars as I use my car for work so can’t afford to have it off the round. I have AA mechanical cover until December 2021 on the vehicle. It’s a bit frustrating as Lexus norm is to say investigation fee of I think £120 also I’m not 100% sure if AA will work with Lexus Sidcup? which would mean I’d need to find another 3rd party hybrid my next week off annual leave will be December 😞 I’m hoping the click clack sound is normal or easy fix, will not cause the car long term damage making car worse. Then will lexus work with aa mechanical cover to cover repair or will I have delay repair until I find a 3rd party garage near to Dartford Kent?

I disagrees I prefer Lexus infotainment system over apple car play. Plus when I got the car I was playing music from my iPhones Bluetooth but now I play All my music from a 64gig Sandisk usb which is great.
