I'll be buying a new hybrid just before they are banned unless a) fuel cell cars come forward at a sensible price b) BEV get significant reliable range and much lower charging time and reduce in price, and c) the EV infrastructure improves dramatically. I'm sure I can't be the only one thinking like this...

You are right but my trusted mechanic told me to go to Lexus. I don't know if he did not want to do the job or if he was unable to do it. Anyway yes I could have looked around and try to find another garage but it would have taken me more time and not sure where to go for it. I know on eBay is a lot cheaper but was not sure about the compatibility with my car. After all It is outrageous what Lexus charges for labour and part, I could have probably looked around. I will try to do differently next time.

I am in Ireland and I will pay 600 euros. I know it's a huge amount for such a small part but if I am not wrong about 300-350 is the labour only.

I am having the AFS sensor replaced tomorrow by the dealer. I know I could have saved a lot if I had bought it on eBay but I wasn't sure about what to buy and eventually for peace of mind I have decided to go to the dealer.

Did you end up fitting the UHP2s? I've ordered a set and was wondering what you thought of them.
Cheers
I will wait until September to replace the tyres.

that's a brilliant good outcome from Brexit then ✌️

I think Brexit has nothing to do with it: I don't think that even within the EU, an authority of a member state can force a citizen of another state to pay a fine issued in its territory. In other words Germans getting fines in Spain or France or another EU country are not forced to pay them and I don't even think that they receive any fine by post back to their homes in Germany and the same applies, I think, to citizens of other EU countries.

Booked my car with the Lexus dealer to replace the AFS sensor on 5th July (the earliest available date). In April I replaced the rear shocks. I hope nothing else needed for some time.

SUVs are the same - basically same amount of material and parts just sold in different form for more money.
And as long as we (as society) going to continue to buy their overpriced crap they will continue doing it.
Hence I have long abandoned any plans to buy new car, not because I can't afford it, but just because I do not consider them worth the asking price. Used car prices are issue now, but I just accepted I will be stuck in ~2000-2010 period for foreseeable future. Or even better - maybe I get daily classic car which not only not going to lose money, but hopefully gain some.
This is one of the reasons why I bought a 2008 GS 450H.

hydrogen is on its way and the Ford and Toyota cars will follow as night follows day …. and my Hydrogen powered Ls700 might follow on too
the choice might be, do I plump for a left-hooker Ford sedan OR a Toyota rebadged to Lexus sedan Ls700 ? 🤔
what might be my and your preference ? 😂
Malc
Malc I think your new car is on the way

I had the rear window replaced in my previous Prius and the windscreen replaced in my actual GS last year by Allglass/Autoglass through a claim to my insurance and did not count as a claim in both cases. Maybe in Ireland is different.

Excellent choice 👌.

A second hand Prius? It may not be good looking as a Lexus but has a huge boot and plenty of leg room.

I also believe that Slovakia is a really beautiful country and often underestimated by tourists. We go every summer to Zilina, about 200 kms north of Bratislava. Last year from Zilina we drove to Auschwitz which is not far away.

I would not be sure that parking is plentiful in Italy especially in big cities, maybe cheaper compared to UK. Driving is ok until Florence even though I think in UK you are more disciplined. From Rome to the south of Italy I think only India can be worse.

We often spend time in France, Belgium and Germany as we drive through to our main destinations of Czechia, Poland and Slovakia.
Where do you go in Slovakia Herbs? I am curious because I go every summer to Slovakia for 2 weeks as my wife is Slovak.

Which were the OEM tyres on your CT? I wrote again not to criticise but because I know that you prefer Continental.

Just got new tyres today and enjoyed the 3db difference in noise and hope that fuel efficiency B is much better than fuel efficiency C.
Continental again?

I did not mean to be cheeky, it is just a different habit from kms to miles and vice versa but I understand that the sat nav could be confused. Anyway I don't find the roads in Cork so good, maybe better than in England as you say, but considering what we pay for the motor tax they could be much better.

Shame they insist on Kilometres though.
This is the advantage of being part of the EU. It is just a point of view and habit. For me it is difficult to use miles and gallons. Also shame that UK left the EU in my view.

I put OEM shocks in mine. Lexus Cork did the work.

The tape player was one of the reasons why I would have preferred a 2008 GS over a 2011 one if I had had the choice.

I replaced the rear shocks in mine last week. For how many kms the new ones can last according to you?
Disabling GS mk3 TPMS?

I agree with Len: I have a leaking valve in one of the tyres of my car and the TPMS tells me when I need to inflate the tyre before it is completely flat.
