Tax in Ireland is so stupidly made that today you can buy a brand new 2021 RX 450H 3.5cc for 87,600 euros and pay only 260 euros in motor tax or you can buy a 2007 second hand GS450H for 5,499 euros and pay 1,809 euros in motor tax. I have a 2004 Prius which is worth maybe 1,000 euros and I pay 413 euros in motor tax, so I pay more than somebody who can afford a brand new RX. There are plenty of second hand cars in good condition (Audi, Lexus, Mercedes, BMW) with engines over 3.0cc which cost between 2,000 and 5,000 euros because they are 15 years old and nobody buy them because of the expensive motor tax. The motor tax should be calculated according to the engine capacity (for cars registered before 2008) or to the emissions (for cars registered from 2008) but also and especially according to the current value of the car. It is not acceptable that you spend 70-80-90,000 euros on a brand new car and pay less than somebody who has a little 1.4cc 15 years-old car. I am surprised that nobody in Ireland is questioning this and the government recently has introduced different criteria to calculate the motor tax which unfortunately do not consider the value of the car. Sometimes I wonder where these politicians live. See below for some examples: https://www.donedeal.ie/cars?make=Lexus;model:LS,GS,GS Hybrid&year_to=2008

You are welcome. If those 2 do not ship to England you may also try partfinder.ie It is a website of Irish autodismantlers who are more likely to ship parts even though I am not sure if they ship to England. Here below what I found: https://partfinder.ie/vehicles/LEXUS/GS450/2007_2011 As you can see there are 5 GS in Ireland for parts, if you click on the green box "details" on the right you will see the phone number and email of each autodismantler.

These ones below are 2 GS for parts in Ireland. You may try if they ship the bumper to England. https://www.adverts.ie/cars-for-breaking/lexus-gs450h/22063691 https://www.adverts.ie/cars-for-breaking/lexus-gs450h-for-breaking/23028640

I am not sure if I understand what you mean John but that thread is the 19th on page 1 of the section dedicated to GS450H. -

In this section on page 1 there is another thread "GS450H Trim Levels" which explains very well the differences. -
Well, my first discussion was in the section for new members, so I thought that maybe somebody who wants to sell a GS in Ireland may look into this section more likely than in the new members section.

I am looking for a GS450H in Ireland preferably SE-L, MY 2008-11 with beige interior (I do not like black interior). Preferably a low, medium mileage but not more than 120-130.000km. Thank you

My suggestion is to check with Lexus Ireland about it. It does not make much sense to me going to Belfast to get it done simply because if in the future you had a problem with the hybrid system how could you drive up to Belfast to have it checked? Equally I think it is useless to have the hybrid health check without warranty for another year. I simply would prefer not to know how is the battery without any warranty given. I would prefer to face the problem when it occurs rather than knowing that it did not pass the test or it passed it but without warranty.

This one below is a bit beyond budget (maybe you can negotiate the price) but very low mileage and I think high spec https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202103049749788?model=GS 450H&advertising-location=at_cars&postcode=ha86ny&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=New&radius=1501&sort=relevance&include-delivery-option=on&make=LEXUS&page=1 -
Before deciding to look for a GS, I have looked at V4 Prius and Airside Motor Centre has one from Japan which is really unique as it is the Touring Premium edition. Anyway the idea of another Japanese import stopped me. Now I am more into the GS but I am still waiting for a good one. In UK there is so much more choice but I would prefer avoiding importing it. Have you seen that Lexus Cork has a 2013 GS with 60k km? But it is an executive and not F-Sport. https://www.carzone.ie/used-cars/lexus/gs450h/fpa/202103019600423?SOURCE_ID=SOURCE_ID_FPA_FROM_FEAT_LIST&journey=FeaturedListing

I have been checking the cars websites for a GS450H MY 2008-11 and I noticed this evening that this one had disappeared from Carzone. Anyway it was not of my interest as I am looking for the previous model and moreover I know that Airside Motor Centre mostly deals with Japanese imports and as my Prius is one of them I do not want another Japanese import as my Prius has the MFD in Japanese and I have been unable to use most of the functions and info because they are in Japanese. But it is really a good looking GS you bought even though white is not my favourite colour. Enjoy! Ps did you drive from Dublin down to Cork with the current restrictions to 5 kms? You are brave!

Moreover it is really stupid selling something on ebay from a bidding starting price of £40,000 even with reserve while the buy now price is 45,000. Nobody will bid I am sure.

But this Sport trim has particular suspensions and run flat tyres? I have read that these tyres are more expensive than common tyres? Anyway for more or less the same price I would go for a SE-L as I like very much the wooden steering wheel and gear knob. Also I have read that since 09 facelift there is a slightly bigger boot which would be very useful.

Thank you Nick. Do you mean that in Ireland they had only Base and SE? I have not completely abandoned the idea of importing it from England as I would like to get a SE-L. I might be able to pay more in the coming months if I find a good one, but I need to find a dealer in Dublin which may import it for me.
-
Could somebody please tell me if this one below is a SE or SE-L trim? It seems to me a SE. Thank you Declan for pointing it out. I appreciate it. It must have been a recent advert as I checked the website a few days ago. Unfortunately it has already been sold but I would not have bought it anyway it as the motor tax is very expensive on models prior to 2008: I can't afford 1,809 euros per year. I am looking for 2008-11 models which cost 750 euros in motor tax which is still affordable for me. Anyway this one was very cheap and the high spec, but 2 years of motor tax cost nearly as much as the price of the car.
