Cheers for the insight Linus, yes my car only had one previous owner and is sitting around 135k miles so I suspect it may have been alot of motorway driving. They did include a video as well showing all the issues but I suppose its harder to establish unless you can see it yourself so I will probably take this to a garage to get a second opinion. Right now I am predominantly working from home so Im not doing many miles on my car but as the MOT is due in September I'd like to make sure when we go back to work (Probably june time) the car is ready for those daily commutes. I did notice some fariyl cheap Continental ECO Contact 6's with a discount code so if the price is right I may consider those also!

Hi everyone, I recently dropped my IS250 F Sport off at Lexus Nottingham for an air bag recall and I had a very pleasant experience. They lent me a CT200h for the day, polished my car, gave me half a tank of fuel and also did a free vehicle health check. They provided a video and breakdown of some of the issues on the vehicle, the main issue I'm noticing is the exhaust and the corroded brake pipes. When I did purchase the vehicle I was assured flagged the advisories up on the MOT but was assured it was addressed but it seems that isn't the case. I believe there was a previous forum member who had a similar issue with the corroded brake pipes and wanted to get some advice from felllow forum members on how best to address these issues. I believe they went to an independent garage and had them do the work as Lexus would naturally charge an absurd amount to get all these works done. There is a Toyota / Lexus specialist not too far from me in Nottingham so I'm considering taking it to them to get the works done. I am also considering new tyres probably Dunlop Sport MAXX RT2 as I believe Linas recommended them for comfort and economy. If anyone can provide any advice it'd be greatly appreciated.

I’ve purchased a facelift 2010 F Sport recently and as much as I would have liked to have cooled seats, I do prefer the slightly sportier ride as it suits my driving style. Mine does ride a little rough but overall the experience is very comfortable still so it’s a nice balance I find. It comes with every other conceivable extra, plus the benefit of the 2010 F sport is that it will come with Bluetooth music as a standard which helps with the outdated infotainment. That and the parking mirrors dipping down when in reverse gear alone is enough for me to recommend the F Sport most definitely over an older SE. It’s worth noting the 2010 F sport unlike the ones released in 2011 and 2012 deleted the west memory function but the 2010 keeps it which is great if the car will have multiple drivers. Do make sure the service history looks good for either vehicle, don’t let high mileage necessarily put you off also.

Ah bless her, I’ve always been a little uneasy driving near trucks but something like that would definitely put me off! Couldn’t agree more about the dash cam, as soon as I got the car back I was straight onto Amazon to buy a dash cam. I’m currently just deciding how I’m going to wire it up either permanently or via the cigarette lighter.

Cheers for that mate Thanks Linas, insurance havent contacted me at all after I gave them the dash cam footage so not sure where I stand with them in terms of liability and my premiums. As far as the car is concerned I couldn't be happier! Ah sorry to hear that Len! I think as Linas mentioned there are certain conditions for the airbags to trigger, I believe a youtube channel host (Car Throttle) had a very similar incident where he was caused him to spin in front of the cab and drag him along and I believe his air bag didnt trigger from the footage. I've linked the clip for you just below 🙂

Sadly you are right, my premiums will take a big hit unfortunately. I had a bit of a fiasco where with my first car (A corsa) I moved from NG2 in Nottingham to NG8 when I bought my house and they doubled my insurance from £90 to £180! With any luck I can keep the premiums to less than £200 I will be happy as that was what I used to pay so I can certainly budget for it,

Thanks everyone for the kind words and very handy advice! Sadly you are right, even for various of my family members Insurance they would have been much better off dealing with the third party directly. I did manage to speak to the insurance company and they chased it up with the engineer who was assessing the damage, thankfully they have actually authorised the repair and that will be going ahead now! At least thats not an expense I need to worry about for the moment, my excess is only £95 which isnt too bad!

Hi folks, despite COVID and lockdown affecting everyone in 2020 my year went rather well and I ended it off nicely with the purchase of an IS250 F Sport. Unfortunately after a sat nav mishap and coming to an awkward junction I did have an accident a few days ago in which the bumper and driver side got taken out. The other person I don't believe was at fault an independent party cause an obstruction in the road so that blocked my vision and I didn't have enough time to react sadly. As annoying as it is, thankfully me and my partner left without any injury and am currently awaiting for my insurance provider to go over their "engineers report" to decide if the car is a write off. From the way they have been behaving with me it does look like it may be and I wanted to get opinions from fellow forum members. From what I could tell, the car still drives fine, only the AFS disabled light goes off in the dash. The driver side headlight was cracked so doesnt function, the driver side of the bumper was dragged off and the fog light is still functional. It does look like the crash bar has taken damage but no air bags went off, would you guys say the car be worth buying back and replacing the damaged parts? I was after this car for weeks and weeks so its a shame to have it gone after only 2 weeks of ownership!I am with Hastings and from what I've seen they don't tend to let you buy back your vehicle unless you really reiterate is so any advice would be greatly appreciated! All the best Bill

Cheers mate! Honestly insurance was one of my major concerns, I was planning on waiting til my 2nd year of driving but with the corsa dying I checked with my current insurance provider. To change vehicles mid policy my quote jumped up from £80 to £140 a month which isn’t bad as I was paying that pre Covid for the corsa. Thankfully I’m working from home so I dropped my annual miles from 10k to 2k and just social driving! Generally my insurance is quite high compared to most most but should slowly come down over time. Haha I’ll hopefully keep an eye out for you mate! At some point I may get a private plate, just bought a GROM VLINE for now so the bank balance has taken a hit 😂

Cheers mate, I was after an ultrasonic blue for quite a long time and I was never quite able to find one within my budget sadly so the black is a nice alternative!

Cheers mate and I certainly shall do!

Apple car play

I’ve spent a lot of time looking into this, I’ve recently acquired an F Sport 2010 IS250 and I believe 2010 IS250s with iPod / iPhone playback the only viable option is the GROM VLINE 2. Ive actually just ordered this tonight so can let you all know my experiences when fitted. This applies to NAV cars only NON-NAVI vehicles can support any android unit I believe. For any car 2005 to 2009 with NAVI or any non-NAVI there are several android units that can replace either the top portion or the IS infotainment or the entire thing with a Tesla style unit. With android, you’ll have the ability to use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto by use of a third party app and they work extremely well even integrating into steering wheel controls and wireless Carplay working also. They’ll replace the entire system and still provide functions for climate control and car functions either via buttons or built into the OS but you do have a considerable drop in sound quality due to cheap chinese DAC’s but DSP’s may remedy this. I’ll provide a few links to give you guys an idea, there are a few videos of guys who have installed these units also! £317.82 48% Off | TEYES CC3 For Lexus IS250 XE20 2005 - 2013 Car Radio Multimedia Video Player Navigation stereo GPS Android 10 No 2din 2 din dvd https://a.aliexpress.com/_m0mTSNx £179.46 17% Off | Xdcradio 10.4" Android 9.0 For Lexus IS IS250 IS300 IS350 Car Radio Car Multimedia Player Auto GPS Navigation Stereo 2005-2011 https://a.aliexpress.com/_mOxorfb £207.00 25% Off | Car Radio Android 10.0 10.1'' DVD Player For Lexus IS250 IS300 IS200 IS220 IS350 2005-2012 Stereo 2 Din Head Unit GPS Navigation https://a.aliexpress.com/_mOdBZln -
Hi guys I’ve been driving for almost 2 years and ever since I passed I’ve had my eye on a Lexus purely because you don’t see many of them on the road. Thanks to the many active individuals on this forum, I learned so much about Lexus as a brand, the rock solid reliability, the luxury and the refinement and after test driving an IS250 I was not disappointed one bit and was immediately sold! Finally after my poor corsa broke down, I decided to take a plunge and I bagged a 2010 Lexus IS250 Automatic F Sport and so far I love it! Hoping to be an active contributor on this forum and I am looking forward to my many years of Lexus ownership and to make some friends on here too 🙂
