  1. Hi, do you know of such a web site for EU cars? I am in The Canary Islands (supposedly Spain) but so far have not been able to find anything like the link you have in UK.
  2. Congratulations. Beautiful car the RC. Wonder what you will enjoy most: Sound of the engine or the fantastic ML audio.
  3. Welcome. Youe island end up having more Lexus cars than my island.
  4. If you are able to define ugly you can make a lot of money as a designer. Ugly is not same for all. The eye of the beholder. My eye does not find beauty in the big SUV that are so popular now. Practical but beautiful?
  5. The French cars were not bad, but very different and it takes time to get to use the funny gear shifting in the Renault 4, but it did function well. The floating and sailing Dyane 6 was impossible to tilt even if some passengers could get seasick in them (the first generation MB A-class did have a terrible handling and did roll over when tested in Sweden), the Peugeot 604 was comfortable even on the worst rocky mountain roads. My wife found the 604 much better than the 250S MB we had before. I am afraid our Lexus are not the next common brand here in Europe. Build is great and the old ones are going to be around for a long time, but seeing almost no new registered here and knowing the service is poor I believe Lexus is going to be a rare sight in the future. Most new hybrids are: very many Hyundai, some Toyota mostly Prius (taxi), Auris, Corolla and even some Ford. Hyundai seems to have half of the market (except for the taxi market) and the rest is a mix of the others; very few Lexus. Probably too expensive when compared to what you get for your cash when buying other brands. There are many electric cars too but only the largest supermarkets have parking places with charger and only one or two, so electric are for people with own houses, which are few compared to how many living in flats. Our next car will not be one with a big hybrid battery and also not one fully electric if the CT will last till hydrogen combustion engine cars are available. Toyota has made the best gear shifting system and has been working and developing hydrogen engines since 1970 and today I believe they are not far from being able to start selling and Toyota has economic muscle to build fuel stations making these cars far more interesting than the, soon no longer possible to produce, gigantic batteries needed in electric cars. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Mirai The Mirai is only bettered in fuel economy by one Hyundai, but that car has a hybrid battery in it as well, so I think it is not an interesting car. https://global.toyota/en/mobility/tnga/powertrain2018/cvt/ https://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Automobiles/Toyota-s-hydrogen-engine-car-roars-through-24-hour-enduro https://global.toyota/en/newsroom/corporate/35209996.html We are supposed to give the planet to our children in at least as good a condition as we received it and so far we are very far from doing this due to the stupid politicians we have elected and our own greed.
  6. Yes, it is sometimes hard to understand that French fashion is the brand it is. Yes and popular too. Renault have made some extremely reliable engines. The R4, R12, R16 rarely broke down in the mountains. The Peugeot 604 we had was thirsty, but never missed a beat. Cars driving in mountains are having a hearder job than those in pancake flat countries.
  7. Whosoever say that French cars are not reliable have not been in mountain areas in Africa. The long living R4 are still driving around as taxi and the Peugeot 504 pickup can easily transport 10 people plus what they have bought on market back home.
  8. Correct. You won a medal.
  9. Must be pretty reliable. One here for sale with 600.000km.
  10. Welcome to the forum. About extras in UK some living there will surely answer soon. Enjoy the silence in your new Lexus. With the Takumi you surely have the Mark Leveinson audio and nothing is better from factory in any brand I have been in so far (very many).
  11. Sorry not 251 wide. 215/45-17 Not all tyres are available in this size. Where we live only summer tyres are needed.
  12. Good luck Alan. Never heard of anything that good.
  13. Please update when you have it installed as, if it has navigation from Android phones that alone would make it worth installing it. Also how difficult it is/was when you have done it. Android maps show more of the little streets here than the Lexus map: 02-40-51- (2020-05-1), which is the latest from Lexus.
  14. 1. Polluting a bit less than gasoline and diesel. 2. Depending on what car it is and what you are going to use it for. If you are not going to use it, it does not matter.
  15. Have been searching to find the bill from Toyota for the Cam belt but it was in 2005 2006 and I cannot find the invoice, but I am pretty sure it was mentioned as correa de levas which is cam belt. Cam chain would be named cadena de levas. But I am getting old and have been wrong before so why not now?
  16. Changed from BP to Shell. Big difference. Shell smell like petrol did in the old days, while BP not really that much. Engine runs quieter on Shell. I think.
  17. Where should Lexus be heading? Wikipedia is a good place to find info: Places with planned fossil-fuel vehicle bans This is a dynamic list and may never be able to satisfy particular standards for completeness. You can help by adding missing items with reliable sources. Countries Map of proposed bans. 2020s 2030s 2040s 2050s Countries with proposed bans or implementing 100% sales of zero-emissions vehicles include China, Japan, the UK, South Korea, Iceland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Slovenia, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Canada, the 12 U.S. states that adhered to California's Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Program, Sri Lanka, Cabo Verde, and Costa Rica.[1] In 2018, Denmark proposed an EU-wide prohibition on petrol and diesel cars, but that turned out to be contrary to EU regulations. In October 2019, Denmark made a proposal for phasing out fossil fuel vehicles on the member state level by 2030 and was supported by 10 other EU member states.[19] Toyota has already shown the way in 1970 or something like that. Hydrogen engines. Hydrogen combustion engines. Many or most combustion engines can be modified so they can drive on hydrogen and while spilled petrol stay on the ground and is easy to put fire to, spilled hydrogen is gone immediately and posing little or no danger at all. No more battery powered cars where half of the energy is wasted while charging and using the energy, where the planet is destroyed in search for rare earth to make the stupid batteries. The reason we do not have filling stations and hydrogen combustion engine powered cars is that the leaders we have are lobbied by the petrol delivering companies/countries. Yes we have a hybrid, but hope to get a hydrogen powered and would be happy if Lexus could provide.
  18. Have been using Continental for more than 30 years. Good tyres. Our CT came with Pirelli P7 and they are not bad, but when replacement needed will look for something more quiet in order to enjoy the silence of the car. Do not know if Michelin or something else is best but am open to learning from you who have had a lot of different tyres on your cars. Size: 251/45-17
  19. Have been living 20km south of Amsterdam. Never was in the red light area, never was in one of the famous coffee shops. Must be a boring person.
  20. Being first from one red light to another is not what life is about anyway. Welcome to Lexus and enjoy the silence.
  21. 70.000 km
  22. Do not know if it is tru but thy claim to have the solution: https://www.dvdgpsnav.com/blog/10-25-touch-screen-lexus-ct200h-android-head-unit-gps-stereo-upgrade/
  23. So economy is what you care about. Fine. I do not see a reason to have a diesel either. Sold the one we had and got the CT. We are happy with that. Consumption in this is also not what factory claim.
  24. If consumption and taxing are your main issues you could be right. About the IS250 being close to perfect you need to look at the forum for the IS and see if you still think that. Here it is possible to buy a lot of used IS and not one diesel. Could be for a reason. So yes: it is hard to find a good used diesel when owners will not sell.
  25. Hydrogen can burn. Gasoline can burn. If gasoline was the new thing just now it probably would be called too dangerous to be allowed driving on roads. When gasoline is spilled it stay on the ground being very dangerous. When hydrogen is spilled it disappears and is little to not at all dangerous. Want to go back to horses on the road? Many maybe most combustion engines can be modified to be able to drive on hydrogen. If we care about leaving the planet in as good a condition to our children as we received it, we should start thinking and telling our stupid leaders to do something instead of talking about economy. What good is a million in the bank for our children if they have no good drinking water and no air to breathe?
